So the reason Fakir is always viciously trying to rid Mytho of his feelings is because he knows the outcome of the legend. He knows that although he tries to protect and sort of "hide" Mytho from reality, he is in a way "hiding" himself from his fate.

So what his father says is true; he is really only trying to protect himself. (though I believe he is both fond of, and caring towards Mytho.)

Rue, on the other hand is neutral, yet her alter ego is the antagonist.

How did they actually write this? A girl who was a duck, turned into a girl by a dead creepy man in some sort of time warp who then turned her into Princess Tutu who had to return pieces of a heart to a prince from a story book but couldn't tell her that she loved him, meanwhile a girl that loves him turned into a monster raven but Mytho is sort of starting to love Princess Tutu and Fakir (a reborn knight) is trying to stop Tutu and kill the raven. Phew that's a lot to take in. And there's more.
