@geriatric1927 im so pleased I discovered your channel. Im thoroughly enjoying it and could sit and listen to you for hours. with regard to your demob suit would that have been British utility clothing with the CC41 mark. I look forward to viewing the rest of your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Its so good you are putting your experiences down here. Not only are your recollections interesting but you tell them in such a nice way. So enjoying them.
I think you do not have to feel guilty to have let your parents down, really. You may have made a major change that seemed to render all their before made investions and sacrifices useless, but in the long run ...
Okay, to know that by then was literally impossible, and the feelings of guilt were there, undeniably, but ...
Seeing what has become of you, what great person and ~ality you are, what you give to the community here and with The Zimmers ...
Wow, I never realised that young men found trilbys so unfashionable after the war! A hilarious and deeply interesting nugget of history.
I know that I for one would find an antique hat to be very cool indeed! I don't own a trilby myself but I do have an American fedora which is quite cool!
Thank you so much for sharing your life with us, and giving us a window into the past - you are an amazing person and I hope life will continue to yield new experiences for you!
Incidentally, I think it would be great if you would show some samples of your wife's art school day sketches and fashion designs of the 50's to mid 60's era say. From what you described working for a design house she seemed to be quite accomplished.
Ha Ha..! I like that "..oil in my veins instead of blood" Perhaps for much of the youth of today with their Nintendos, X-Boxes, mobile/cell phones and such like it would be electrons in their veins instead of blood. LoL :)
Sir, I would like to again say thank you very much for telling us about your life. I have gained great respect for you and I enjoy watching our videos.
you worked with radar? wow I hope you didn't come down with testicular cancer. Where you able to have children? I hope so because you are so charming it would be nice to know that there was another form of you somewhere.
All my grandparents are dead/missing, and I've never met any of them. I know for sure both my grandfathers fought in the very same war, though. But on the other side. I love hearing your stories.
I didnt say that to geriatric, it was a reply to GoldLining. I love geriatric1927... You should LOOK on my account and notice i have subscribed to him.

Leicester is awesome!!! I am from North Carolina, and I went to UK twice; once to Birmingham, and once to Leicester. I love that place. I still have vivid memories of walking on the town and touring almost everywhere last year in Leicester...i cant begin to say how much I'd want to live there
Nice video i love war storys and love listening to them you explain it so well throughout your collection of videos and have shown the world how older people can be popular on youtube too well done!
I think you are a very wonderful person. I am so happy to hear your words of truth from your hard times in life. I think that we as people take things of which we have so easy for granted. Listening to you makes me have a sense of being grateful for what I have. You are like a Grandpa! Your stories aren't boring either. This is a wonderful idea and I hope people will learn from this
You are a blessing, an inspiration and role model. You worked so hard and went through so much for others. I hope now you find time for yourself. I love listening to you and I feel like I'm learning a lot. We love you!

I just found your video blog. I lost my grandfather 2 years ago (he was 10 years older than you) and I used to love to listen to his stories. Hearing yours has been like having him back again.

Just want to add my voice to the list of people who appretiate the surrogate gramps. My real Gramps (1927-2005) died shortly before I got my first motorbike early this year, I know he rode in his war service with the Military Police and again after the war as a contstable with the Metropolitan Police Force (London UK). Thanks for your videos, may you post many many more.- Sarah
I wanted to post a quick comment to say Thanks for sharing your life in these videos. I am from London and also went to college in Leicester! My grandparents had all died before I went to college, and I think I feel that I missed out on what they had to say since I was relatively young at the time. I'm 30 now and happily married with a wife and son. It's nice to hear those 'grandfather'-like stories again of someone who was there in that time.
I'm still here listening...I'm going to slide off your lap to get me my bag of jellybeans...I adore the way in which your revealing yourself bit by bit...
Once again, great video Peter. At 21 I love hearing stories that can show me a more personal side of history, and yours in particular is quite interesting.
I can't get enough of these videos....im sure ur not going to recieve this seeing as how u get hundreds of comments but its just remarkable the things u bring up and everything i just love it...u made me laugh a couple times in this one too....keep it up geriatric1927
That's fantastic, Sir. i recall myself being discharged from the Navy, wherein we were given the rest of our Uniform Allowance for the year to get a new set of clothes, and i bought myself a pair of designer jeans and a designer shirt, to the tune of almost $130! Good on you for refusing the cap! The first thing i did at the train station was take off my belt, untuck my shirt, take off my hat and step off on my right foot! This pirate salutes you!
Hi there the grandpa of internet. The Swedish newspaper wrote about you yesterday:d Again I'm telling you that I love listen to you. When I'm cooking or cleaning or just relax. Keep it up grandpa:D

You get paid to complete offers, usually about 1$ each, but they add up. There are also free trial offers worth more than 10$ each. The survays are easy and only take a couple minutes. Each month they send u a check in the mail for your earnings. i know there is a lot of spam/crap on the internet, but this site is 100% real. just a good way to make some cash if u have some extra time
i intercepted a message from this gentleman to thewinekone asking him to do a video in the nude. some things are not as they seem.... i could see this faggot coming a mile away though. listen to how he talks! ha ha what a hilarious fag.
Hey udder, I've seen both your videos and it's astonishing that you have the gall to call anyone a fag, least of all a dude who was defending his country about 30 years before you were so much as a twinkle in the milkmans nutsack.
I do love your opening jazz tracks... something we do have in common. I think you are really cool filling up your twilight time with this new form of communicating.Brilliant ..maybe the "kids" can learn a thing or two.
I've only just found out about you Peter, I wish my dad could join in, he only has a telephone email address though. He was born in 1927 too. Hope you take the BBC comment I saw earlier, up on their offer with email address. Good for you and I look forward to logging in from now on to find out more!

I only would like to say hello from Poland, Your stories are very interesting! I must use dictionary to understand everything, because my english isn't well :) but I'm looking forward for next movies.
you know i have followed all of your videos and one thing i noticed was the fact that you had a motorcycle excitement. you throw it out every once in awhile but, you use it in odd ways. we are used to hearing about old times and war times. when motorcycles come around it sounds too modern. if you know what i mean. i am very fascinated with your sory but i wish i knew a better pattern with your life.
Thanks for posting these videos :) very enjoyable.

I agree with Donna, you're special.
I disagree about Shakespeare and Latin being nonsense, though. I think that's what's wrong with us young ones today, not enough books.
Just my opinion.
God bless!

I made 357$ from this site last month.
http://dolph.ontheinter.net
You get paid to complete offers, usually about 1$ each, but they add up. There are also free trial offers worth more than 10$ each. The survays are easy and only take a couple minutes. Each month they send u a check in the mail for your earnings. i know there is a lot of spam/crap on the internet, but this site is 100% real. just a good way to make some cash if u have some extra time

i intercepted a message from this gentleman to thewinekone asking him to do a video in the nude. some things are not as they seem.... i could see this faggot coming a mile away though. listen to how he talks! ha ha what a hilarious fag.
uddercrap 5 years ago
Hey udder, I've seen both your videos and it's astonishing that you have the gall to call anyone a fag, least of all a dude who was defending his country about 30 years before you were so much as a twinkle in the milkmans nutsack.
Show some respect you cretin.

Youn sad insecure fool. leave the general public alone, and learn that you are the abnormal. Live with who are and accept that. CRETIN

I've only just found out about you Peter, I wish my dad could join in, he only has a telephone email address though. He was born in 1927 too. Hope you take the BBC comment I saw earlier, up on their offer with email address. Good for you and I look forward to logging in from now on to find out more!

you know i have followed all of your videos and one thing i noticed was the fact that you had a motorcycle excitement. you throw it out every once in awhile but, you use it in odd ways. we are used to hearing about old times and war times. when motorcycles come around it sounds too modern. if you know what i mean. i am very fascinated with your sory but i wish i knew a better pattern with your life.
