  • one of the first symphonies i performed in public as a young professional bass player 35 years ago.

    It has bitter sweet memories for me . . . . . .

  • @Strefanasha Why? What happened?

  • @Slick2614 it's personal i was a trainee in a professional chamber group attached to th new zealand symphony orchestra and we joined the NZSO for 2 concerts doing the 6th the end of that year. but the conductor of my ensemble, the schola musica, was a sadistic tyrant. he destroyed careers as a matter of routine and though i won a prize at the end of that first year, 1976, i could not take the endless abuse and resigned march 1977. profesional music is now painful for me and has been since then

  • @Strefanasha I'm so sorry to hear of your unfortunate experience. Most people probably encounter bad people in positions of power during their careers, and the trick is to get away from them, but I realize that may not be possible in a field as specialized as classical music.

  • Ok.. this always brings tears to my eyes especially if i listen to the 4th storm movement before this. the way the strom ends and the sun comes out. the genius in this work is beyond anything. How could a human being create something like this ?

  • The first piece of music I remember from earliest infancy, still makes the heart sing

  • Es de las interpretaciones más maravillosas que he oído en mi vida. ¡Qué hubiera dado por estar allí!

  • so so beautiful :-)

  • Is that someone coughing at 1:47 and 2:02? An otherwise fine performance.
