@woterx SX is just an upgraded 404. The SX is better and I doubt they even make a 404 anymore because the SX is just an upgraded version.

When I sample from turntable the volume is lower than everything else, so I cant use it because everything else will cover it up

I like how you can use the 404 as an FX unit via the ext input. I would like to trigger pads while affecting the input. is it possible to trigger pads while affecting audio from the ext source input? (thanks)

If you can find the sp303 you will be so much happier. The 404 has pretty lights though, I guess.

@TheChinglish what's better about the 303? the most common thing I hear is the sound is "creamier" and "grittier", as opposed to the 404 being "harsh" and "bright", or something to that extent.

which one is cleaner and fuller sounding (closest to 24-bit recording)?

is there anything cheaper than the $2,000 MPC for 24-bit sampling, does anyone know?

thats cool, but when i plug the mic in, its like way too low volume compared with the pads 1-12. If i turn up the mic on the mic level it just keeps peaking....do you know what to do?

Nice one, this is really helpful and the only tutorial I have found up to now that shows clearly proper sample trimming on the SP 4040 all the others are mostly lame (give or take a few nice ambient ones) So well done and I thank you very much sir *****

Splendid vid, also answered a question i had a about sample-editing, so very cool. Is recording based solely on the timing of you pressing record? Or do you have options to set it to record only a fixed period like 1 or 2 bars, so it will automaticly stop recording once the set time has elapsed?
