@falco560 not really. The twins, the boy on his tricycle talking from his finger, the axe through the door, Lloyd were all taken from the original film not the remake. The only thing that even vaguely resembles the remake is the mom being blonde and that probably wasn't a conscious effort to imitate the remake because nobody remembers the remake or liked it except Stephen King

In The Shining: The exterior is Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood in Oregon. (the views without the maze, anyway.) The interior is a soundstage, based on the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite Park, California. But to my knowledge, no filming was actually done at Ahwahnee.

It's possible MS filmed at Ahwahnee, since that's what The Shining's hotel was based on, internally; but they likely did a soundstage, like Kubrick did. (And probably 'cheated' with green screen or something.)
