  • Question about the Graphics Display Designer V2.0.1.9 (with updated Library):

Is there a limit to the number of type="picture" elements (widgets) that can be added to a screen? I have 18 and get errors when running Code Generation: "GDD Files Not Present..." The files are present, since I just use a total of 17 pictures and all works fine. I am trying to come up with work-arounds but nothing appears to work. Any help would be great!

  • @ubeacreful The problem seems to be in the limitation of the length of arguments passed to the Graphics Resource Converter tool from Graphics Display Designer (GDD) (not number of arguments but total length of argument string, though more arguments means larger the character counts in the command line invocation). Try to move the project to a shorter path (i.e. C:\Microchip Solutions\prj\) and also shorten the names of the picture files (p1.bmp) & see if they fit within the command line buffer.

  • Lovley demo but cannot find any documentation which will allow a user to build a simple grpahics application from scratch.Grahpics is complicated only when it is not though properly.

  • It is impossible to align components in the GDD or to copy replicate a component. Copy/Paste doesn't exist. I found this system difficult to use and am now looking for something with a better look and feel.

  • @davidhaile “Thank you for your feed back. Microchip is committed to make the Graphic Display Designer robust and also feature rich. We are working on a new revision that contains fixes for a few important bugs and addition of a couple of core features. Expect to see this out by end of October. More releases and features will follow in time”

  • Im fan of Microchip Company and in this video they shown us how simple it is to use the GDD with their development board but I have one critic to make: I think Microchip focus too much in software development in their classes, probably anyone can follow this demo using their development boards but only few people can make it work with their own designed PCBs. I have been twice in Microchip Masters USA and I will be there again. Im asking for more Hardware Classes if is it possible.
