  • This vid is popular on Quito

  • This video went viral on Bratislava

  • rest in peace socrates from pakistan. he played the game the way its meant to be played.really sad times for our sport. first speed and now socrates

  • @ammad471 .what do you eman our sport?does pakistan even exist int he paramter of football or any sport?

  • Great Player Socrates RIP. Some of the Best Matches of all time during this World Cup. Love from Greece/Italy

  • RIP Socrates from an Italian

  • RIP Dr Socrates !

  • RIP Socrates

  • Dear NicodemusDK, the definiton "robbery"is perhaps a little bit too "strong" even if i agree that Italy was not spectacular as that Brazilian national team was. Italy doesn't stole anything but played a very intelligent match and made also the fourth goal cancelled only by a mistake of the referee. A match that had an unexpected end and remains one of the most beautiful in WC history even if there were some evident mistakes done by the players during the match

  • Even nearly 30 years after, this is still one of the biggest robberies in football history.. But hey... if you don't have a defense, you rarely win a trophy!

Brazil had one of the, if not the, most charasmatic teams in the last 40 years. Still saddens me, that they never won.

  • @NicodemusDK

ROTFL, Italy has never robbed anything in its footballing and non history, maybe you're confusing with your German friends (1954:doping and 1990 non-existent penalty)

  • I can't believe some of the comments on here regarding this Italian side...were these people even alive in 82? this was a FANTASTIC side, one of the best in WC history with world-class players all over the pitch...Zoff, Cabrini, Scirea, Tardelli, Conti, Rossi...the 82 win was a culmination of six years work by Bearzot. The core of this side was involved in the 78 WC in Argentina but was a bit too inexperienced to make the final, but they did the job in 82

  • @hugodrax71, people forget that this italian side put out the three previous champions . some of their goals were counter attacking football at its best. italys greatest ever side

  • regarding your diskussion with wisefelipe the level of your arguments could be better..lets better talk about the Italian team: First three games in WC 82 were poor, nr. 4 against Argentia was ugly, but against Brasil and furhter on they played cold-harded,more fair, effizient and I see a certain beauty in their game; In total I rate the team clearly above the WC Champions of 66,74,78,86,90,94,2006 - it was a strong team; my favourite player is Cabrini, for me best Italian defender ever

  • @datomann Cabrini best italian defender ever? What about Facchetti or Maldini? And I'm not talking about central defenders like Vierchowood or Baresi.

  • @datomann

I'm not too sure if this team was better than 74 Germany or 86 Argentina but I agree about all the others.

  • failing a dope test??? he was done for match fixing wasnt he?

  • Just something wrong the commentators said, the left-sided back was known simply as "Junior", not Juninho. Not every single Brazilian player has a diminutive in their name.

  • @wisefelipe it's not the only mistake of this commentator...

  • the greatest striker between '76-'85, led a small team to champions in serie B, next season was runner up in serie A with the same small team (whilst being the league's top goal scorer), next season was voted young player of the year in the '78 world cup. in 80 he served a ban for a betting scandal, and returned in time for the '82 wc. his first three games, he played abysmally, the next four games where the best of his career, a true assasasino ! brilliant team, very much undervalued team

  • @featherinthewind123

I don't think it's undervalued, it's just that people always compare it to that Brazilian side which makes the Italian look bad, but they were excellent, much better than Italy 2006 or even Brazil 1994 (maybe 2002 too? I'm not sure on thsi one).

  • We were far better than Brazil. Conti was a better dribbler than any Brazilian. We are the original Latins. People forget that.

  • Brazil were very good...but Italia had Rossi!

  • Paolo 'Pablito' Rossi is an Italian legend and hero. Rossi, Toto Schillacci and offcourse Roberto Baggio are legends

  • This was when people played with their hearts, not money

  • Am I wrong or the commentator says that Rossi was disqualified 2 year before this WC because he "failed a doping test" (about min 0.35)?

It's absolutely false: he was disqualified 2 years between 1980-1982 in relation with the betting scandal of february 1980: at the end he was guilty cause he have not reported an attempt to corruption that involved his team mates in Perugia. In that time the laws were strictly enforced and also Milan and Lazio were relegated in the 2nd league (serie B).

  • Italy has so much more history and culture than Brazil that when Italy beats Brazil in a silly game, people start hating Italy, go figure.

  • @montelatici

I'd guess if anyone really hates on Italy is only when people say racist and xenophobic stuff like the one you did.

I don't think there's a single descent football fan in the world who would say that Italian side was bad

  • That 1982 Brazil team was incredible and yet Italy still won. I think their name was on the cup.

1982 is my favourite world cup. I haven't seen a better one since.

  • KUWAIT HAS JOINED 82 WORLD CUP

  • what a shame that at that WC, becasue of the seeding curiosities, Italy, Brazil and Argentina had to play at Sarria Stadium in Barcelona, with maximum capacity 48,000, while the great Nou Camp, with its 120,000, "went" to the most dull and poor group of the second stage with Poland, USSR and Belgium...

  • This Italy team has to be the greatest or arguably the greatest team to lace up the boots!! Argentina, Brazil, Poland and W. Germany, all slain within a 10 day period.

  • Rossi was banned cos failed dope test?!!? it was his implication in a betting scandel... !! how they get that wrong? rossi might well ask for this to be taken down from youtube or sue... and listen at 00:53... "for *once* Brazil would have to chase *again*"... that makes no sense!! forza italia!

  • @172km I think he meant that Brazil had been a goal down with Scotland and USSR at the group stage before eventually winning those two games...But with Rossi - he indeed messed up. anyway... Forza Italia!

  • Football only sport that is not always the best wins.

    Brazil! 5 World Cup!

    FUCK YEAH! problem ?

  • Brasilians think = they made football and they only know football..sad

  • the philosopher was playing with the brazil team!?!?!?!

  • brasil sucks italy for life

  • what a turn and pass from Zico....

  • The charmless, tough playing style with which Italy beat Brazil in 82 turned against itself 12 years later, since 94 was somehow Italy reaping what it had sowed in Brazilian football soil on that sorrowful evening in Barcelona. Winning 94, nonetheless, could ever make it up for losing 82. We changed our style, improved our defense, won two other World Cups... Only to forever regret that July 5th, 1982, at Sarriá Stadium: the day day football died.

  • Excelente partido. Grande Italia

  • Italia 82 lo MAXIMO , ROSSI ,CARINI , CAYETANO,BRUNO CONTI , ALTOBELLI , AMO ITALIA

  • Super Italia ! Very smart players, brave, dogged ! A very big team !

  • Brasil won World Circus 1982 award

Italy won football World Cup 1982

  • @goodyears73 ....Brazilians soccer was playing with art...do not forget it.

  • @dimaz2008 But it could be beaten couldnt it, tactics and defence won the day.

  • It takes more than have the best talented players in the world in your team, we all know that....Brazil maybe had the best team in the 80s but they won nothing...and last year it happened again.

  • brasil were too stronge to be true back then to the point where they would of gave them the trophy before they the WC started . brasil remind of barca now there passes are same ! italy played great

  • Comment removed

  • I like how the commenators leave it so one sided.

Rossi banned for taking dope but he scores.

Brazil was naive - does that mean Italy won't smart enough?

No one has anything thing good to say about Italy they just won't admit it.

  • Wow, every single one of the goals came from misstakes. Italy's first goal shouldn't have been scored if the center backs had marked the right players. Brazil's first was lucky/bad goalkeeping. Italy's second was a sloppy pass and lack of concentration from the defender. Brazil's second, how the hell did he get that much time to shoot? Why didn't anyone pressure him? Italy's third was just pure laziness from the Brazilian defender that should push out in that position to get Rossi offside.

  • @tibiasuckness you can say the same about the brazil goals. anyway this was about 29 years ago. you should try to find the brazil coach from that time, and try to explain him your point of view. Then michael J. fox can pick you up in a time machine, and take you guys back to 1982.

  • @emmadafacca

Um, I'm pretty sure that I wrote that Brazil's goals were lucky/misstakes too? Are you blind or what?

  • What is funny is that Antognoni scored a fourth for Italy which was not offsides yet this everybody forgets yet if Brazil had had a goal taken away for the reason then a lot of people would be saying that Italy won becaue of a mistake by the referee

  • the commentator in this video is an English idiot. Paola Rossi did not fail a dope test. He was suspended because it was said he took part in match fixing. His suspension had nothing what so ever to do with drugs or dope or any other such things.

  • The starting game against USSR had to be the "red lamp" that winning a World cup is not like winning a beach match at Copacabana. Just look at the Brazilian defense at the second Italian goal - a bunch of morons. Or Serginho`s miss at 1:0 (not in this clip).

Also - if you compare Italy`s equalizer in the Mexico 1970 final with that second Italian goal here they are almost twins in terms of how the Italians receive the gift.

  • @tyzhen Of course they should give the gift back and lets be honest 95% of all goals or perhaps even higher are scored becaue of mistakes of one kind or another. It it is a far away shot then its the goalkeepers fault because he was not where he should be and if it is close then the deffense let him get too close. Brazil's second goal was also a huge mistake by the Italian defense who opened up thinking pass and Falcao shot the ball,

  • Paulo Rossi lol

  • ITALIA 4 BRASIL 2 JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJ LA VERDAD |!!

  • not because a team just wins that it's better and this is a proof precisely; another match in this same world cup was a scandal: france did deserve to win over bastard germans; son of a bitch of schumacher failed to kill poor batiston of france; this was how in most ugly way nastily germans won but they were beaten with their own way of game(just defense) by italy in final

  • @mahvachcheidani Sure that the Germans only defended - that is why they scored 2 acrobatic goals in that semifinal for just about 6-7 minutes of play, plus the second of these goals was one of the finest goals ever seen. By the way - when in 1970 in the "game of the century" Italian defender broke Beckenbauer`s arm when the Kaiser was free against the Italian keeper and the referee slept over the situation, then no one cried against "the bastard Italians with their ugly way, etc".

  • @tyzhen Excuse me you seem to know your football but Beckenbauer's arm was not broken, his should was dislocated and that was not done by an Italian defender but due to the way he tumbled in to the box. so it was the fall after the foul which caused the damage.

  • @mahvachcheidani And what about when in Euro`84 the French Le Roux broke the leg of the Danish Simonsen like a truck goes through a glass window ? Let me guess your explanation: "hmmm....that is football....hmm ..that happens...". Then accept that what was in the 1982 World cup semifinal also happens.

Oh, yes - and something happened in the 2006 World cup final. Someone`s head happened into someone other`s stomach when the ball was 50 yards away .But I doubt that you remember...

  • @tyzhen I am Italian and I wrote an article about that semifinal,Germany vs France 82 and I really don’t think Schumacher wanted to hurt Battiston. He was in the middle of a jump and it is hard to change directions or stop when one is jumping. He went to visit him in the hospital and wasn’t a dirty player. If you want to read this article google “Truvianni,Germany France 82”

  • I remember watching this game in 1982 and thinking it was probably the best game i had seen, and even now 29 years later it is still one of the best if not the best.

  • italy drew all thier group games, no-one gave them any hope. rossi played terribly , italy only got through on more goals scored. they had to put out all the 3 previous winners to win. top top team. rossi went on to have his best four games of his career. antognoni, tardelli, conti in mdfield; sciera, tardeilli, bergomi and the assassin in defence, happy memories

  • Look at Leonardo's Inter losing to Shalke and you'll see why Brazil lost in 82.

No compactness and no (defensive) tactical awarness.

  • Great memories of a wonderful 82 World Cup. Italy was given no chance in 82 but won it fair and square. Bearzot built a great team.

  • PERSONALMENTE MIS GOLES FAVORITOS SON:

    1) GERSON EN 1970 EN LA FINAL DESDE FUERA DEL AREA

2)PELE EN LA FINAL DE 1958 CONTRA SUECIA (HAT TRICK) Y TIRO CALCULADO DIRECTO

    3) FALCAO EN 1982 CONTA ITALIA

    4) NEGRETE MEXICO 86

  • @1RadicalDreamer Yes I'm agree m8. I'm italian and I've a great respect for Brazil football, for me Brazil vs Italy is a (friendly) derby, not like Germany vs Italy or Argentina vs Brazil, derby based to respect.

Maybe Brazil '82 was one of the most strong brazilian team of history, anyway Italy '82 defeat Germany, Brazil, Argentina and Poland (Poland in '82 was really good team), so Italy '82 deafeat the most titulated teams of the world.

  • @QuadraroImp

buddy remember france 1982; they were better then than even in 1998

  • @1RadicalDreamer Holland '74, Brazil '82 but don't forget Italy '94 or Italy '90, when there is a man with italian team... Baggio. And he never win a world cup, great injustice.

  • @QuadraroImp ur absolutley right my man...it still hurts my heart when thinking of this unjustice , although it wanst me playin and although its just football

  • I remember back then in the 90s when Italy was best. Now that Italy sucks, and Brazil recovered, who knows who will be second or first place now! Soccer (or how you British people call it "football") is very unpredictable. First, you know that you're winning then you lost 1-0, that's what happened to my team during the California State Finals. It's still good to know that your overall performance is better than many people.

  • Paolo?? i dont think he was better than zico

  • Zico may have been a legend, but Paolo was a god.

  • zoff=bidone

  • @alfliberatutti AMMAZZATI che non capisci un cazzo!

  • @immadrigovix Italia a vinto niente altro e importante, forze Italia

  • italy and france played the best football in this tournament. brazil created a great atacking football but their defense was poor, specially in this game.

  • Comment removed

  • forza italia

  • Whats bad is that people dont congratulate Italy, they won fair and square.

Put that Samba bs to the sword

Brazil dont have a god given right to win every tournament.

  • @FGalaxie

my ass they tore zico's shirt they just hit and beat every brazilian that were all gentleman like one falcao fantastic; i was just happy that italy won on final over bastard nazi germans except for breitner that's a gentleman

  • @FGalaxie

    my ass they tore zico's shirt they just hit and beat every brazilian that were all gentleman like one falcao fantastic; i was just happy that italy won on final over bastard nazi germans except for breitner that's a gentleman and i forgot paolo rossi a son of a bitch of a mafiosi;

  • @mahvach brazilians gentlemen? hahahaha, They get everything handed to them on a silver plate

Rossi whatever he did before this tournament, he made up for it, was on fire.

  • @FGalaxie

    my ass they tore zico's shirt they just hit and beat every brazilian that were all gentleman like one falcao fantastic; i was just happy that italy won on final over bastard nazi germans except for breitner that's a gentleman and i forgot paolo rossi a son of a bitch of a mafiosi;

  • @FGalaxie and furthermore, nobody can say all we did was deffend becaue this was a game we had to win, the English of course dont like it because they rather see Brazil win than Italy but the truth is we won fairly and with no contraversy what so ever. Forza Italia, siami 4 volte campioni del mundo

  • @FGalaxie FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Responder a este vídeo... Wow...but Italy was a great soccer team...!!! Great football team...Professional football team...Brazil's team in the cup of 82 was warrior and artistic. Not better than the italian team. Best regards....

  • @FGalaxie

I say that Brazil should have won the WC as often as anyone else, but in no way does that mean that I don't think Italy deserved it. They were a great side, considerably inferior to the Brazilian one, surely, but that's because Brazil was ridiculously good

Anyway, when a weaker team beats a better one, it's sad and all, but it was won on the field and therefore deserved, that's why we have a tournament in the first place instead of just giving the trophy beforehand to the best team.

  • @wisefelipe Brazil were only good at attack, not at defence and tactics.

A great team has to be well rounded in all areas.

  • @FGalaxie

The defenders were actually pretty good, although the goalkeeper indeed sucked.

And they were brilliant tactically, did you see the way they moved and exchanged positions? Everyone had tactical roles to do to offer options in attack.

The problem was that most of our team simply decided it was a waste of time to actually defend, they barely marked or tried to steal the ball, theyweren't too worried about the opponent scoring, believing they could always score more. Overconfidence.

  • @wisefelipe Cerezo and the goalkeeper could have been better.

But what you say is what pisses me off about brazil.

Beacause they can do tricks and are (were) poor. We should just give them every world cup. the soft fluffy creatures of the sporting world.

    Defence is important.

Other countries attack just as well.

  • @FGalaxie

Cerezo was pretty good, although he did end up making a bad mistake. In a team (almost) full of Legends, Cerezo was a lone World Class player, not good enough to be a Legend like the others.

The Goalkeeper could've been MUCH better I agree.

And Brazil as a whole knows defense is important, we were the first country to play with two DMs for example, but that team played in attack so easily that they thought they didn't have to defend, obviously they were wrong.

  • @FGalaxie

Did you know that in 1958 Brazil was the first team to use a back-four, with two central defenders? We got to the semi-finals without conceding once.

Another interesting fact, did you know Brazil has conceded less goals than Germany in World Cups? And we played two more World Cups than they did.

This whole thing about Brazilians not caring or knowing nothing of defense is just a myth, in fact, it has always been the quality of our defenders what allowed us to attack with so many.

  • @wisefelipe I know that Brazilians are a mish mash of genetic code.

So they should fefinitely not be uppity.

Plus that awful language they speak, Couldnt pick a better language than Portoguese?

The myth that Brazil is always the best and noone comes close is annoying.

They have and can be beaten,.

  • @FGalaxie

Err... a country doesn't just "pick" a language, just saying.

  • @wisefelipe That was said tongue in cheek lol

but come on porko? worst latin language, Even romanian sounds better

  • @FGalaxie

    Porko? Oo, what's that?

I don't know, I think Spanish sounds worse, although I do agree that Italian and specially French sound much better. Unfortunately I have never heard anyone speaking Romanian so I can't compare to it.

  • @wisefelipe

    C'mon,french sucks,italian and brazilian portuguese rock! :)

  • @FGalaxie I agree with you dude, it's all about likes. I guess the mayority of soccer viewers like spectacule rather than results, I dare say most us prefer to see a spectacular player or a spectacular team rather than a well balance team. The myth the Brazil is always the best comes down to their technique which is not equal to any other soccer team in the world, however they can and have be beaten just as you perfectly pointed it out

  • There's a mistake: Italy 4 Brasil 2

  • Comment removed

  • @paiosh : Exactly: Antonioni's goal was NOT an outside.

  • @paiosh what da fuck you talking about, the score was 3-2 for Italy

  • @JiS01 This is what the final score. The referee, however unjustly annulled a goal by Antonioni.

  • @paiosh

There's another one: there were 11 Italian players in the field

  • Paolo Rossi scored 3 memorable goals to shock Brazil & against Poland, where his 2 goals again won the match. In the final against Germany, Rossi scored the first of Italy's 3 goals giving Italy their third World Cup. With six goals total, he won the tournament's maximo goleador award—the Golden Boot--as well. Bravo #20

  • incredible the best Brasil lost vs. Italy. GREAT BRASIL FOREVER Beijossssss

  • The Brazilians are sometimes very arrogant despite their Third World status so they should lose, even against weaker capitalist "show" teams like England and even amateurs like Japan and South Korea. The Italians on the other hand have this vulgar animal Materrazzi on their team which (in English the word "which" is used to describe animals and things) also helped Zizou end his career publicly in such an inglorious way so I'm not so sure about them either.

  • @SeventhSun

Since when is the game of soccer about anything occuring OUTSIDE the pitch? To my understanding, what you're saying is that since brazil isn't as rich as other countries, they shouldn't win. Am i right? or did i read something wrong?

  • @SeventhSun You are a fag.

  • @SeventhSun i m italian and trust me when i say that materazzi is the worst shit that ever discraced the noble sport of football closely followed by minchio gattuso. many other people agree. the shit they play is not football fuck em . hail real football players , they played with heart and won this 1982 world cup.

  • In Italy 3 - Brazil 2 match the only real brazilian player was BRUNO CONTI... unforgettable

  • @Largitaja FUCK OFFF BRAZIL IS BEAUTIFUL!!!

    B1ATCH!!!

  • @Xpl0dable ¿? cuack! negra brasileira

  • thats sexy football by Brazil

  • @tsangpogorge are u gay?

  • @invig1 im not gay. in England beautiful football in the style Brazil played in 1982 and like Barcelona today is called sexy football

  • i am dutch and a big fan of the dutch team no doubt, yet the brazil team of 1982 is unforgettable. I still love this team the most, I think.

They should have won the cup that year , same like Holland in 74.

  • Absolute heartbreak for Brazil.

  • does it have to be italy and brazil. can it be germany and iraq

  • @uspkers hehe German, Iraqi

    Americans must hate you.

  • Paolo Rossi is seriously only one of the few people that can make Brazil look like an ordinary team, after Zidane.

  • @inlazlowetrust forget about rossi or zidane not even maradona can make this team look ordinary one of the best teams ever!

  • after this game the Brazilians couldn't go back home for a month after being threaten to be hanged !!!

  • what is the name of the documentary ?

  • @superlex611 Ur Mother

  • @jammbbosammbbo fuck you asshole i was to be nice and i want to know what is the name of the documentary ?

  • @superlex611 looooooool dont give a shit to him some ppl are idiots here on utube watch football lolzzzz

  • @jammbbosammbbo nice one loooooooooooooooool

  • @AlessandroFarnese

  • Zoff defended a lot on that game as well! the whole of Brazil blames Cerezo to this day for that wrong pass and the loss of the game!!

  • ITAAAAAAAAAALIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA :)

  • Brazil couldnt beat this strong Italian team even if they played for 1000 minutes.

  • this brasil team sucked the 1994 sqad who won could of won agants this itlay team 82 good but they sucked that why they didnt win the world cup dont write back or coment 2 back or ill hate on u

  • Lucky Rossi vs The Best Football Team in the World 3-2...

  • @Kkandral

He was not lucky. He was good

  • @Kkandral dude he scored hatrick in brazil what u want more to score 1000 goal to say he was good ?

  • this is one world cup italy didnt cheat

  • @lootordie A sopposed to every world cup where the FIFA's pets Brazil get every call, and heklped through every tournament?

  • they all thought Brazil would take the cup.the Brazilians were great players.only...Rossi was smarter ;-P

  • Hi, Haters!

    Italy wins.

  • @usausausa91 ,well said.too many undead hate Italy.fuck them and fuck their evil jealous minds.

  • @555Nato I would not say, people hate Italy ,I only think that too many people have memories of that time, have eyes to watch nice games of 1982 and many would simply wish Brasil a gold medal instead of Italy. That s all.

  • @AMOLADOS ,nice games.yes they played nice ,those Brazilians.that was maybe their undoing by Italy.I loved it anyway.never take things for granted.and that's what all the people did.thinking Brazil will win.

  • That year, like 1930 and 1934. Azzurri was composed by almost only Juventus players... like ever.. the most important club in italy
