  • I love this movie although I know that the screenwriter, director and producer have all taken liberty and used the book as just a reference. Movies based upon books are done that way. It is more enjoyable to an audience to believe David OD'd and was ditched in a back alley than to have him die from an OD in a hospital. The same liberties were taken with Tina Turner's movie. Unfortunately that's hollywood and they seem to know what we consumers like.

  • I dont know, but I think David ruffin owned My Girl. Yeah sure it was a temptation song but I dont wanna hear it from any other member but that man. I wish theyd stop singin it like its for the namesake of the song. Anyone else singin lead just aint nowhere near as impressive and cool to me.

  • @agochoa: David's gone, so the group shouldn't sing one of their biggest hits ? Are you self medicating ?

  • @julesmonroe47 Damn Right.

  • I love the movie and the cast was good

  • In MY opinion, this movie was great.

The Actors chosen were just awesome, couldnt ask for a better cast.

  • I just saw on wikipedia that the guy who performed the role of David Ruffin is the same guy who appeared on Madonna's Like a Prayer video.

  • @guitarlawyer75 ..yes that was Leon. Leon was in the 5 Heartbeats also. He seemed he started playing singers for a while, sort of typecast. He played Lil Richard in a tv movie, which I thought was so funny. The temptations movie was okay. And yes, David wasn't thrown out of car. Just remember hearing on the radio they found him full of cocaine and that he had a money belt on with no money in it. I think someone else OD'd him, but we'll never know.

  • Agreed..Too Many Unanswered Questions as well as too many untruths!!

  • Too bad the movie isn't entirely factual-it is just that...a movie for entertainment "based" on a book about the temptations and imo needed a disclaimer. Example...no mention of Pauls' battle with sickle cell anemia, a possible cause of depression & drinking, David wasn't thrown out of a car, and Melvin didn't die at home. It's also agreed by most that Paul's death wasn't suicide (too many unanswered questions). Please, please, everyone, enjoy the movie but don't take it for the gospel.

  • How did david ruffin die?

  • David died from cocaine, was taken to the hospital, but never regained consciousness (June 1, 1991).

  • wow the movie didnt even attempt to tell the truth. thank you

  • @Pur0mexico cocaine over dose

  • @dimbrown1 yeah i agree..im mad that i believed some of the untruths bcuz they were in the movie..its messed up that even tho otis' book was the "basis" 4 the movie, it wasn't 100% factual..if i was otis, i wudnt hav done the movie unless they wud hav told the true story about the group

  • @dimbrown1 melvin died in a hospital right?

  • @dimbrown1 -Thanks for your input. This Group was one of my FAVORITE - they

were and still are CLASS ACT.. Too bad so many passed away. I miss them RIP.
