When I turned this vid on I switched to another tab and I listened then I was like THIS ISN'T TRAIN! but when I saw Pat I was like OMG *squeak*. He does Led Zeppelin almost PERFECT! -3
saw them in Houston a month or two ago. they did a segment of Whole Lotta Love and i must say, i thought i was listening to Plant himself in that joint. those high asians behind me were probably trippin' by that point haha
A decent cover, but a bit anemic compared to Zep (but who wouldnt be?) They should have skipped the Lou Reed bit particularly if they couldnt handle the original lyrics. This guy is certainly no Plant.
Great version by Train. I just saw Robert Plant at the Hardly Stricly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco. Now I really I love "Ramble On". I was up on the hill there in Speedway Meadows where the acoustics were pretty good. Check out my video.
I'm a huge Zep fan, not a huge fan of Train though. I like a lot of Train's songs and I think they rocked the shit outta this tune, or tunes!! Damn, I don't know why anyone wouldn't dig this version. I was pretty damn impressed!
OMG I love pat monahan and TRAIN so much he is one of the most amazing talented vocalist out there with such an vast vocal range. nothing can beat a live performance by these talented men.
@indagadavida Train goes way back and their music has adapted and evolved some over the years and that versatility you see here is always inside that band. They have the ability to cover almost any hit song through the years like no other band I've ever seen. They're great live and very entertaining on stage. I love alot of their old stuff along with their new. I'll always encourage any "new" Train fan to go back and research some of their older stuff. You might be suprised how much you like it.
I have enjoyed Trains music/vocals. Drops of Jupiter and When I look to the Sky are two of my personal favorites; my son passed away in 2006 at the age of 25, and these songs have helped me to endure and smile.
I have been a Led Zepplin fan for many, many years, and when I heard Train cover this song... It blew me away! I knew the lead singer could sing But he really busted this one out! Nicely done!
I kinda wanna fight w/all of you little twits who say this isn't worth a shit, but you are so not worth it - This is unbelievably AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Listening to this entire video, makes "Hey Soul Sister" look like the worst thing they ever did. How the hell do they go from Led Zeppelin to mainstream shit?! Get back to this! Get back! BACK! I'm beggin' you! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!!!!??????
I heard ramble on from Train and thought: WOW GREAT! And suggested to play it with my Accoustic cover Band WOODSTUFF! And it's funny we made a MEDLEY of Whole lotta love and Ramble on! But in another way!
a fantastic interpretation and so funny in the middle; Lou Reed, what a difference to Led Zep!
.....I've listen to alot of music in my day and Ive heard plenty of bands but I have to say that Train is on of the most talented to come along in a long while and Pat is one of the best rock singer to come along since the 70's. He's been on my music radar for awhile and he never disappoints no matter what he sings...he is always a great on Howard Stern (his close friend) and he has a smokin wife.
@detroitli0n I encourage you to stop showing your ignorance and go back and listen to any of Train's first three albums dating back to the mid 1990's. The band has five studio albums and one live album. So again, if you able I suggest you go back and listen to any of their first three albums and then come back and tell me they have never had a rock song in their "existance." They're very versatile and some of their newer stuff is just a fraction of what they've done and what they're capable of.
Great vocals by Pat Monahan. I saw them at Mile High this summer and they rocked the place hard, which is very impressive considering caliber of bands playing MHMF..
I saw Train open for Matchbox 20 several years ago. Had no expectations, so I was COMPLETELY blown away when they did this song. I remember nothing about Matchbox 20, but have never forgotten the experience of hearing Train perform this song live.

another great experience-a friend and i went to the Basilica block party-Mpls-tg see Big Head Todd, but the highlight was Train-fifteen feet from the stage-eye contact-they were better than any video here, and fun
I never write comments on here but this is so amazing I can't contain myself. What an awesome job. I have actually seen Train and Led Zep live. Unfortunately I don't remember the Led Zep concert that well but I sure wish I did. About 35 years ago at MSG. Led Zep - my all-time favorite band and Train my current fave!
Great Vid,,, Totally Awsome,,, This rendition of RO stands well with Plant's Vocals and Page's Hammer of the Gods playing anyday. For me to say you can play as well as Leds and mean it, says well of you because you walk on hallowed grounds and this band does just that. Well done.
Led Zep is my all time Fav band hands down-but honey, I love me some Train-and Pat Monahan is one of the BEST vocalist and preformers I've ever had the pleasure of seeing! Check out a taped concert they did on Soundstage(.com?)
Wow, I gotta say this is WAY better than what I expected, probably the best Zepellin cover I've heard in a long time....and I like the twirling/dancing/stoner hippy chick in the audience in the beginning...lol...my luck, she would be right in front of ME!
You would have to be at a Zep Concert and I was 3 times to get the ramifications of this song, but that said this is stellar by any standards. That said keep it real and stand at the mic stand and scream it out till the veins in your neck stream blood, plant style !
Great Cover version. There is nothing worse than a cover of a song that is rubbish. This is class. He is probably doing as good a job as Plant could manage now his voice isnt as good.
I initially refused to watch this because it's Train, but GOD DAMN! Pat Monahan got some Plant in him. I wish I had an extra set of arms, so I can give this 4 thumbs up!
That was unexpectedly pretty good!! Dude definitely has some pipes and he does the song(s) well. I'm not a Zeppelin purist, but I thought it was well done.
Any LedZep fan who doesnt love this is an assh*le because you know damned well that Zeppelin performs like complete crap most of the time (so drugged out). Listen to the guitars, spot on! Page is so damned sloppy he would make a mistake and spend 5 minutes making a solo out of it just to cover it up. This ROCKS!
@stupidsh1t They do an excellent cover. I heard this first on Howard Stern. But being a good copy doesn't define how good you are. You can exceed the original. Look at what Led Zeppelin did when they covered When the Levee Breaks. That was a song from Kansas Joe and Memphis Minnie from 1929.
OK- so I always liked Train, got the first three CDs, used to play "Free" in gigs, but I never saw them live..... that will change now. Holy crap is Monahan a front man or WHAT! And you appreciate just how tight Jimmy and the rest of the guys in the band are when you watch Pat's solo stuff with utility players. They just moved back into my "favorite current band" slot.
