  • Love how PGS actually shows you what these pedals sound like while playing chords. All other channels will just play faggy solos for 10 minutes. Cheers ProGuitarShop!

  • I've already understood Andy's choices on tone.

what makes me come back to PGS videos are the riffs he dishes out :) rock on

  • MAN ON THE SILVER MOUNTAIN!!!

  • @Rock4Ever80s Yo man,

i use one as my main distort. in my band, and fuck yeah!! Give it a few tweaks to get a really sleazy slash tone, with your own personal edge...

  • hey i like youre demo but i have a question: is this pedal good for guns n roses solos sound?

  • I LOVE how these guys voice their pedals. I challenge anyone to come up with a non-tube dist/od pedal with that much definition in the harmonics, the individual tones of each string when playing a chord and that almost throaty kind of plexi-esque tone...just better. I have 2 of their TUBE ZONE pedals and they are just killer all damn day long.

  • For any pedal I'm searching, there is a PGS demo. Thanks for all ProGuitarShop, you ROOOCCKKK

  • didnt there used to be a comparison of this vs the ocd vs the barber drive pedal?

  • 3:00 whats the song andy? :)

  • @thechaircover rebel yell - steve stevens/billy idol ?

  • @benedictsweeney It is White Wedding...Steve Stevens \m/

  • feel the sound by noisehain

  • @ULTIMATEannihilation This is a distortion pedal, the OCD is a overdrive pedal ;) They are different.

  • Man on the SIlver Mountain \m/ \m/

  • @MaidenDio252 RIP Dio!!

  • I own one, they're Australian made - they do us proud!

  • 65 amp soho.

  • whats the song at 2:45

  • @lilmexican64 It´s called "the random chords song".

  • im definitly buying this for my peavey classic 30

  • ProGuitarShopDemos: Thanks for posting variety of effects. It is really helpful for consumers:) so, what's your top ten list of dist?

  • Nice demo. Would definitely be interested in playing around with one.

  • @laughingboy0068 I think it was White Wedding... not positive though. Sounded great regardless!

  • 4:13 paradise city by guns n roses

  • I just got this pedal but I don't have the required cables to turn it on and crank. What are all the cables you need to plug in to get this working?

  • the riff at the start the man on the silver mountain by rainbow

  • Thin Lizzy - The rocker at 1:02

  • 1:50 , black sabbath a hole in the sky ?

  • @ULTIMATEannihilation That's drive, not distortion though, right?

  • That sounded like MCR at the end

  • can i use this pedal for some metal like pantera lamb of god ?

  • @elputitohorny actually you can but I recommend doing it by using this pedal to alter the sound of your amp not to get the distortion you like.

  • @elputitohorny nooo, what you should do is to get a mxr 10 band eq,then buy some good dist pedal(I mean really good) and then twek the eq till you get something like the tone from dimebag

  • Which amp was used with the Crunch Box? Good demo, thanks. Jonas, Sweden

  • what have you got the internal presence dialled too??? i'm having a bit of trouble with mine, wish it was a feature on the outside of the box so i didn't have to undo it everytime i wanna change it!!

  • it really does sound like a cranked marshall( when marshall was Marshall anyways ).

  • Anyone know how much this pedal costs?

  • @GrofCmarnik $130 i think

  • hey andy, what do you think of having this pedal plugged into a vox night train? really enjoying the PGS videos. helps out a lot!

  • Can he point to the pedal less than a 1000 times in the first minute? LOL

  • @twangzilla ahahah i noticed this too :P

  • I ment to say the Tones from the Pedal is way better than i expected!!

PGS videos are Always beyond anything else on youtube =)

  • It this pedal True Bypass ??????

  • what is the first song you play?

  • @nadibs man on the silver mountain

  • @nadibs Rainbow - Man on the Silver Mountain

  • Yeah baby!! Just got mine.

  • WHICH ONE ?? CRUNCH BOX or OCD?

  • @lsh10270 CB

  • is that the version 3 ?

  • I want this pedal

  • I'm a man on the silver mountain ~~~~ !!!!!!

  • @ULTIMATEannihilation think of it this way, crunch box=plexi/jcm800; OCD=1974x

  • Great demo, but you always run your amps so dark! give us a tight, bright tone too!

  • its dream evil by dio rip respect you fools go sail away!!!!!!!!

  • anyone have this? Can I trade my Boss ds2 with this pedal?

  • @proguitarshop What is the difference? This pedal has the middle knobby above and I/O jacks towards the top of the pedal and power input on top in this video and in the July 20,2009 video the middle knobby is below and the I/O jacks are in the middle and the power input is in the middle. Re they 2 different versions? sound different , the same?

  • @guitargeant - Two different versions, this one being the older model. No sound difference, just a different layout. Hope that helps.

    PGS Crew

  • OCD is an overdrive, this is a distortion, I mean really....good pedal, good rep. Not a bad price, one could do worse.

YouTube gives guitar players an IQ of 5.

OH, god, I got banned from that Moogerfooger vid where the idiot was playing chords through a monophonic trigger, I meant 4. Are 99% of guitarists retarded? OK 99.5%.

  • First tune; Thin Lizzy the rocker.

  • Its the Ritchie Blackmore Riff from the song "Man on the Silver Mountain" when he did his Rainbow work!

  • I want to learn that lick from 0:00 till 0:006

  • in this clip use 9 v. or 18 v.

  • i'm havin a brain fart. what's the very first riff?

  • Ahh damnn I;m wondering the same too.

  • Rainbow's "Man On The Silver Mountain"?

  • yes

  • man on the silver mountain by rainbow

  • sounds like zz top, sharp dressed man.? maybie

  • just got it and its amazing love it

  • I wasn't too impressed with this pedal until I tooled with the INternal Presence Control .... Wow it's a must if you have this pedal.

  • Obsesive Compulsive Disorder :o

  • Obsessive Compulsive Distortion, my friend.

  • You mean Obsessive Compulsive Drive.

  • I've got an OCD v1 or v2 and I like it, but the MI sounds super sounds rude and raunchy and I dig it, not sure if that would cut in a band setting or not but it sounds great

  • Billy Idol's White Wedding at 5:21. Steve Stevens is the man!

  • 4:13 is GNR's paradise city

TAKE IT TO THE END OF THE LINE!

  • @ 3:34 sounds like Dont Fear the Reaper tone

  • ...that's because it is you dumb piece of shit.

  • that's an amazing sound!

  • Anybody has any idea what's the voltage used in this demo? (or can PGS himself answer? :P)

  • Anybody has any idea what's the voltage used in this demo? (Or could PGS himself answer? :P)

  • Tough decision, this or the OCD

  • Get this one and the Cool Cat Drive which is a copy of the OCD! I paid 30$ for the Cool Cat Drive, shipped at my door! ;)

  • how would it sound if i boost the crunch box with the blues pro during solos?

    PLZ ANSWER!!!

  • So, which works better with a strat..

    crunch box

    or

    cmatmods brownie?

    PLEASE reply quickly, thanks (:

  • Get a Marshall stack. Then you won't need any pedals. Eddie Van Halen never used a distortion pedal.

  • Wrong.

  • Amp distortion is the best one, but if you need a delay for pedal and a pedal for boost? it would affect your tone?

    Like.. AMP + Delay + Volume Pedal + Boost(OCD)

  • Do you know how loud you have to go with stacks for it to overload and get real distortion?

God you honestly have no idea what you're talking about.

  • Is it just me, or does the tone knob seem roll off the distortion as you roll it down?

  • Got one. Best distortion Pedal EVER played!

  • listen around 1:45 you can hear hummmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • That'll happen when you turn the gain on a pedal way up and play a stratocaster. I'd actually expect more hum out of that set-up.

Cool pedal btw. But it's a bit pricey for what it is impo.

  • Whaddaya expect =D It's SUPER-HIGH GAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN MAAAAAN! SUUUUUUUUUUUUPER!!!!!!

  • Marshall stacks hum too

  • Im[pressive pedal, I'm surprised it's op amp driven rather than transistor

  • 4:41 It sounds like personality crisis! New york dools

  • 0:07 what is that song? would love to know.

  • do you think i can use a basscombo to plug in this and blues pro for guitar play? its an ashdown mag 300 amp

  • what kind of pedals i can buy for an epiphone casinò???this is good??

  • thats beer drinkers and hell raisers/ zz top at 5:20 isnt it?

  • can you get wylde sound with this pedal on clean channel(from ozzy era)?!

  • is this one is better than the tonebone hot british?

  • These pedals last for ever. my guitar teacher who's lead guitarist and singer in a band, has had this pedal since it came out (cause he's endorsed by M I Audio), he's used it in something like, 60 gigs, and it still looks brand new.

Sounds awesome too, which is more important.

Also pretty cool that they are being made here, in Australia, none of the cheap chinese shit.

  • Hey guys, i have a question. i have had 2 distortion pedals for some time now, and i cant get either of them to work.... i have no clue how to get these things to work. they both came with a batery, niether of them worked.. i am pluging them in corect but they wont turn on (the light wont go on) and i cant figure it out... ive tried charging it with a 9v charge chord and that didnt work either... im so lost please help D:

    thanks!

  • Too much weed?

  • This or the purple plexi 800?

  • This one...

  • plexi :P

  • Both sound good but there could be some differences in quality or reliability, no ?

  • I have a Vox valvetronix xl-series, can you tell me wether it's solid state or not?

'cause on that topic, my brain is a sleep!

  • try radial tonebone pedals. the hot brit-to get close to a marshall distortion, and a classic distortion to get a fender overdrive. very good pedals for the price you pay.

  • Comment removed

  • 2:50 damm awesome tone. To bad i can't get it with a solid state amp...Guys, if you don't have a tube amp this amp will not sound this good at all! and the sustains sucks

  • god, that is sweeeeeeeeet!!

  • What's 1:56?

  • It's Black Sabbath

  • I think I'll get one... I'm searching for almost exactly the sound at 1:45

  • havent heard man on the silver mountain in forever...

  • eh! i love this tone!

  • Humbuckers @ 3:57

  • nice :)

  • thanx

  • Not as good, let me tell you but it will still give you a really decent sound if dialed in properly

  • I bought this pedal...It's worth alot more than what it cost! GREAT pedal!

  • crunch nox or vox satch? i want something with fat and juicy distortion specially for power chords..thanks

  • crunch box

  • Comment removed

  • IS THIS PEDAL TRUE BYPASS?

  • of course ...

do you know how to use GOOGLE ???

  • Hi Andy!

Do you think this pedal would sound good through not tube amp?

    I have a peavey bandit transtube 112.

    Thx!

  • "Crunch Box will make them scream like a fat girl on a pogo stick" LOL

  • would this be good for a MUSE tone?

  • MUSE has a number of tones entailed to their name. Can you name a song as an example?

  • Urm. I was thinking like Tiro and hysteria?

  • Am I dreaming or at 1:35 he plays a convincing "The Who" sound........with a single coil ?

  • whats the suprise?

  • Haha....5:20---> Billy Idol!

  • Which of these distortions are the best: vox satchurator, mi audio crunch box, fulltone ocd, marshall guvnor, or the dunlop way huge fat sandwich.

  • OCD

  • Fulltone OCD is an overdrive pedal... it's originally made for low-medium gain even if it is quite punchy... IT IS NOT A DISTORTION PEDAL.

There is no better distortion... it all depends on what style you want to play, just check out Proco Rat, Crunch Box, Ibanez SD-9, MXR M115 Distortion III etc to find your tone...

Just avoid shitty BOSS and digitech pedals.

For Metal, avoid pedals, you'd better push a tube amp with an OD pedal.

  • digitech hardwire are good sounding pedals..i think the new digitech products can compete..i got an cm-2 overdrive and it sounded good on my blues deluxe...and im looking for a distortion and this crunchbox is on my list..might try also mxr 3..

  • i know most guitar greats have boss pedals in their board and they still sound awesome? It really doesn't matter because your playing is shitty. My advice, talk less and practice more.

  • From what I know (never have played either), OCD is over-drive, Crunchbox is distortion.

  • No, the crunchbox is based on marshall/orange amp overdrives. This just blows the OCD away in the gain range.

  • Got it a week ago. it's freaking wasome. only wish the Presence mod would be outside of the box, not inside of it.

  • yep..ive got the crunch box and it rocks like hell! I am very happy with it!

  • Do caralho !!!

  • can anyone tell me what is the title of the intro song/music before 0:12??

  • Man on the Silver Mountain ;)

  • by Rainbow

  • cool, i was just curious because i've played some distortion pedals that didn't sound so good on top of the amps overdrive, but sounded pretty good when used on the clean channel.

  • can i use this to beef up my amps overdrive channel? or should it be used strictly on clean channels?

  • You can use it on any amp, there aren't any rules with this pedal. We used it on a tube amp without channel switching (65 Soho)

    -PGS

  • I have one!

    It's Amazing!

  • i love the description for this video

  • I need one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So would it be this or a Zvex B.O.R?

  • where can i buy these product in the Philippines?

  • tol saan k sa pinas? pag meron jan bilhin mo n agad...it sound so good..parang chicharon bulaklak sa lutong..

  • parang koko crunch na walang gatas

  • what is the song at 5:22! i have it on the tip of my tongue!

  • I own both the OCD and the crunch box. The OCD is a GREAT distortion as well as a booster pedal. I love the OCD. The Crunch box gives me that Marshall sound along with a real ballsy crunch that the OCD doesn't. I play through a 65 Deluxe reissue and it's perfect. I have the cleanest sound on the planet along with a Marshall sound when I need it and a great bluesy crunch when the need arises; all by the push of a button. The Crunch box is a very good pedal!!

  • Man On The Silver Mountain!!!!!

  • this or a fuzz face? or seymour duncan tweak fuzz? for a rock/heavy blues sound?

  • I freaking love the Rainbow intro. Ritchie Blackmore is so sick. These reviews have helped me find some of the nicest gear ever.

  • What's better for a grunge sound, this or the GI Fuzz?

  • Probably the fuzz.

  • Sweet! nice demo...hmm.. Based on my experience on this pedal, the down side is, you cant use it as a booster. I duno but, I can't quite get the booster settings on this one. I tried to mimic my TS-808 booster settings which is LEVEL-maximum Drive-almost zero and TONE-1o'clock. It didn't work. As a booster, unlike the TS-808 it didn't give me the bite I was looking for. But I still give it a 5/5. It really sounds great as a distortion pedal.

  • Distortion pedals are not usually work as good boosters.

    Overdrives do

  • The OCD is a different pedal altogether. I love my v4. I'm thinking about getting this crunch box as well.

  • I bought this pedal after trying it with the RAT and the Metal Muff because I wanted a solid distortion that didn't mess up my amp tone - This thing is totally legit. Also - i love that the guitarist plays some Billy Idol in this demo.

  • I just love this pedals sound! Hope I get to own one someday.
