I remember this ride when I lived in Wakefield as a youngster back in the early 70 's. Always stood up holding on to the rails. They used to play a lot of ska music on the ark in them days, and the smell of burgers ahh great days. Would love to ride this again, anyone know where it is now ?
Wow, a major blast from the past! Can remember this coming to Rawcliffe fair every May as a kid, spent many a night riding the bars and walking the platforms, think it was about 20p for a ride lol, can even still remember the two Foden trucks that carried the load. Thankyou for the memories.
leevwe@gafflad,,hows it going m8 i would probably do no u,i can remember a few lads who worked on the machine, lee riley / austin riley / roy / bono / franky / and the black guy cant remember his name.i used to work for albert evans waltzer.terence dowses speedway and evan morans waltzer,u r right fairs r not the same these days due to the fucking health a safety stupid rules, they dont even let punters stand inside the machine now unless its got a safety rail seperating it from the platforms
I would love to no how much Anthony sold the machine for, shame its no longer travelling but its took some serious money in its years.1 good thing its still built up and open better than it being rotting away in some yard like most of the arks and speedways.
@leevwe I used to collect on the machine for about 10 years, it's Shaun Barker, there was Noddy, me Bono, Bopper would come round, Kenny Reynolds and Franky. Where's she built up as would like to go see her in action. Shame Fat Cock sold it but in later years o market it wasn't the same as in 80's when we were riding black all Friday night and Saturday
this ark belongs to the wakefield people my dad uster clod on ark it took me 5 years for crazy horse to let me collect then 25 years on still at it with sproggy it doesant look like old ark too many alterations but its better than been packed up on barrow long live the flyer a riley
