well if you have one race left which i'm assuming is this weekend...what if you just took the whole week off running and did cross training...Pool running, biking, and stuff that won't aggravate your knee. Then, you can go all out for the race when it matters.
hey man i totally feel you, i used to run 8 miles every day, and ive got pain alot now, i know what its like to have to back off when you dont want to
Can I go on these under 14 years old, ime 14 and runner but get pain like you, I recently posted comments on your running tips video, but wondering weather I can take these under 16, thanks!
hey, thanks. I think they work, because I went off them for a few weeks and started getting extra pains. They aren't magic pills, but I think they help both physically and mentally. Mentally in the sense that you feel like you are helping your body out by taking them. I ice my legs periodically too just to keep them fresh. I dont take ice baths like most people though; just some double-stuffed publix bags filled with ice. So what are your goals for this year?
it says you're 15 on your profile, which would make you a freshmen or sophomore. That's impressive if you can make it to state. I made it to state by my junior year. My buddy and I were 13th and 14th at Regionals(only top 14 qualify for state lol). Is your team good too, or is the only way you will run at state this year is if you qualify individually? Tips? Well hopefully your coach trains you to peak late in the season.
Other than that: When you are fighting hard in practice or ready to quit in the middle of a race, just remember what you are running for and decide how badly you want this goal.
haha you're nuts. Only a deranged person would do something like that on their bday. My knees dont often hurt. What I get are shin splints and sometimes pains on the bottom of my feet. I hope your knees hold up. Maybe icing will help and I hope you're still taking the pills! I just found out today that a stretch i was doing to help my shin splints was actually making it worse lol. So now I'm doing the right exercise and I'm hopeful for the improvement because....PART 1 lol damn character limit
i have been taking those pills for prolly 2 weeks. i think they are working lol i did ice my legs! last night. and shin splints sucks! but YA!!! I am gonna run that 16 miles soon! like in 5 days! ya laugh at me all u want lol i think that detassling has been helping my runing becuz there lots of walkin ibnvolved for like 10 hours basically. thats rly good 16:29 what did u do to train your self? HOw many miles a day do u run>? TELL ME EVERYTHING! lol i wonna make it to state!! =D TTYL!
haha well you are a freshmen, so dont put too much pressure on yourself. I only could run 2 miles the very first practice and it took me until junior year to break 17. Point is, even if people improve faster than you do, it's where you are at the end of the season or at the end of your high school career that counts. I never kept track of my mileage in high school, oddly enough, but I do now so lets see...I run 6 times a week and get about 60 miles in each week. Everyone is different though.
I dont know how many you are doing now, and I dont know how much your coach expects you to do. This high school team I run with do like 90/wk, so they run much more than I do. I think you probably need to be at 45-50 MINIMUM. You know what though? Just run to the point where you feel fit and can survive all the pain/work. Most importantly, try to find some enjoyment in it lol. Trust me, one day you will look back and be in awe at what you did in high school.
you chewing is really annoying !

My knee pain came back recently and other than pills what would you recommend because I only have 1 race left, but I want to be 100% for it.

I take liquid glucosamine(1500mg) each day and I find it really lubricates those "squicky" knee joints.

Ignore the "because" from the last comment. I dont feel like typing it out lol.
My best 5K is 16:29. I ran that June 14th. I have races in August at which point I'm hopeful to run even faster. I guess only time will tell.
Let me know when you're heading out on your 16 miler. I'll show up at mile 10 to laugh at you...I mean, give you water...yea, that's it. :~0
