  • Hi, squirreland. Glad I was able to let you see yourself in action. :-) If you want to download a copy of this, there are sites that let you do that -- just search for 'download flv'.

If you want a higher-quality copy, I could send you a DVD-R. Did you work the attraction in 2007 too, though? I may have captured you again. The 2007 video will be coming very soon.

  • Does Knott's allow you to take pictures on rides? Because Dorney Park on the rider guide signs it says taking pictures or filming is prohibited, and for the haunted houses, too. Even taking pictures in restrooms is forbidden. Although I managed to sneak a bunch of pics inside the haunted houses last year with my digital, I'm using some of the images for my RCT3 Dorney Park. This looks like a great dark ride in a mine. I've been on other mine-themed dark rides, like in Wildwood, NJ.

  • No they don't.

  • All they say is that you can't take flash pictures. As long as you can take your pictures without a flash, you'll generally be fine (though security may sometimes hassle you in movie tie-in mazes due to movie studio urging).

  • I went on it when it in 07 when it was spider themed and they dripped down water on the lift to seem like spiders were falling. Well someone threw there arms over their head and my glasses fell onto the track. I was pissed because they are really expensive and they wouldn't retrieve them til the end of the night. So I had to go around all night not able to see. At least my glasses weren't damaged.

  • Wow, that really sucks. Things like that make me glad I can wear contacts instead.

  • uhhggg i frikken have arachnaphobia(a fear of spiders) this ride is scary as shitt to me

  • did they replace this ride in 2008 or 7?

  • It changed to Black Widow's Cavern in 2007, which was pretty similar but focused more exclusively on spiders. I'll have a video from 2007 up soon. Black Widow's Cavern is also back for 2008.

  • thanks for the video of the rides and mazes. but it would be better if you videotape it when you're ON the ride and not in line for it. that part is boring.

  • Some people find the theming of existing rides like the Mine Ride (including the queue area) interesting. If you don't, you can always skip forward in the video.

  • is the grudge two maze still there?

  • Yes, it's still there. And the maze is great.

  • ye i relli wanna go in

  • Not there this year, unfortunately.

  • This year they hardly changed it, all they did was put in more spiders and call it "Black Widow's Cavern." :(

  • thanks for these videos...awesome

  • Welcome. Glad you like them. The videos for '07 should be coming soon.

  • what videos are you going to put up?

  • All the mazes and rethemed rides, plus Zamora the Torture King, and maybe The Hanging, though I just filmed the latter from the line of Black Widow's Cavern and the view of the stage was periodically blocked. If someone else has a decent video of the whole show I'll probably leave mine on the cutting-room floor.

  • i know how they died in the mine:

first, as kids, they were so angry with their parents, and ran into the mine. so angry they dug for gold. then, all of a sudden, a monster from the 2200th century beamed down many of the devils things into the mine. AND THATS WHY THEY CALL ME TAMAD90!!! lol

love the vid, but i am a little creeped out. put in a mother-in-law in that mine, that will creep those people out!

  • I ran at the end, also. I banged into a wall at the monster. It hurt. That ride is hell. I said one thing to a monster and he ran up to me and just wouldn't leave.

  • I love watching your videos danharkless! I have seen this one like 7 times already!

  • Thank you. :-)

  • this for the new attarction i'll make it. last year i didnt .. but since im going on thursday night i will be able too :0)

  • What happened at 3:50 through 3:53 did you almost drop the camera or something?

  • Woo! Thats my crew. I grouped you guys and put you in that car. Good times. Long live Cavern of Lost Souls Train Crew for 2006. God I miss this ride.

  • Thanks for helping to make this fun possible, and glad I could document this enjoyable part of your life. :-)

  • :b 8:23... wahh!

  • whoa this ride kicked was the same as the 2003 event known as "Army of the Underworld" it kinda scared me but this ride only gave me chills with the mechanical figures and sound effects but i wasnt that scared because i was at the back and i heard all of the people in the front screaming and i knew that they were coming to me but other than the giant spider it was crazy i love whe u exit and the monsters are waiting in the dark i actually ran 2 tell u the truth

  • HAHA, i ran at the end too. cause these blonde girls wouldnt go cause they knew the monster was waiting for them, so when we passed the girls, the monster scared us, then i ran, then there was a monster standing on the rocks waiting for us.

  • that giant spider was freaking awesome!!!!

  • Yeah, I totally agree. So much cooler than the projected ghosts they had in the central cavern in 2005.

  • You got scare ha ha ha ha nice video though.

  • I loved the "put the camera away" part and the fact that you bravely didn't comply. That along makes it a must see. What's the harm in filming?

  • Yeah, there have been a few instances of that when filming these attractions, most notably with The Asylum at Universal's Halloween Horror Nights, which caused me to lose most of that maze when my attempt to surreptitiously keep filming resulted in the record toggle getting hit. And in that case I found out after the fact from another guy (HollywoodGothique, I believe) who taped at HHN that the security person who told me I couldn't film was apparently in error.

  • He had checked with park management before filming and they informed him that it was not only okay but they actually encouraged it, since it helped increase the hype.

In this case, though, as I talk about on the "full details" page linked to in the description, I realized that the ride worker on the loudspeaker was not actually objecting to my camera itself, though that's how he worded it. He was objecting to the IR light optionally projected by my Sony camera when in NightShot mode.

  • It would seem that the light partially blinds the IR cameras they use to monitor the riders. Was aware of this from having been yelled at over the loudspeakers in Disneyland's Haunted Mansion, but figured I'd try one more time in case not all ride IR cameras are so easily blinded.

  • So when I point the camera at my leg for a moment after he says that, what I'm doing is quickly navigating through the settings menu and turning off the IR light. The footage after that point is darker since I can only rely on available IR and natural light.

  • There are no camera's that monitor this attraction, just the Ride operator.......

  • Hmm, you're right -- I was just at the park and unlike the Log Ride, I didn't see any monitors in the little ride operation shack.

So, my bad -- I guess the request had nothing to do with the IR light. Maybe it was more the light from my LCD monitor -- I guess I'll just keep that closed if the ride operator complains this year.

  • it's just a ruling that Knotts has for safety of the talent, though many employees don't mind yet some do. They even say say like that to Theme Park Adventure who film at the Haunt every year

  • Oh, are TPA still filming? I very much enjoyed their videos from 2005, but haven't seen anything from them since. Of course part of the reason the 2005 videos were so good is that they clearly got express permission to film (contrary to your claim that they always get hassled too), use a video light, go through with the talent expecting to be filmed (and no crowds of other patrons getting in the way).

  • When you speak of Knott's "ruling", do they really have such a thing? The little signs outside the mazes say nothing about not being able to film -- they just say no flash photography and no touching or harrassing the talent. Even if there were such a rule, I don't see how it would be for the talent's "safety".

  • dude finally!ive been waiting for like a month!

  • Yeah, I know. Sorry it took so long to get this one out -- I've been hideously busy for the past month.

  • I reposted this video because I decided the thumbnail frame of the previous version was just too crappy. Even after applying brightness & contrast tweaks to the frame YouTube chose, it was almost black, and the parts that weren't black were pretty much indistinguishable (especially in the small Related video view).

At the point I took down the previous version, it had 27 views, 1 rating of 5 stars, and a comment from Rebornedd saying:

"good job on the recording! :D keep it up i love it"
