  • wait so was Hulk originally grey?

  • @halfassstudios1 yep, in the original series, which only lasted a few issues, he was grey. when they brought it back later on they made him green.

  • I could not agree more with your review. I loved Hulk.

  • Good points. This film wasn't bad as people say. It also has more action than people give it credit for.

My complaints... having the Hulk morph to about 16 feet tall... too big. Looks silly. Regardless of whether the comics occasionally portrayed him this big or not.

Some CGI looks great... some doesn't.

The split screen was also too much... which panel to look at? Oh no... did I miss something?? The screen transitions were nice though.

Final climatic battle was disappointing and confusing.

  • i know green hulk is good. dont know anything about red hulk. is he bad?

  • I liked this Hulk film as well, but often times I felt the plot moved too slowly. If it was maybe half and hour shorter it may have worked better.

  • The things I liked about the 2003 version of Hulk was the scenes with the Hulk in and the comic book style of the film. The plot and monolougue was too complex and somewhat tedious where the remake had more of a plot that's easy to follow.

  • What about red hulk

  • @potterriddle9 The red hulk wasn't around when this movie was made, and the red hulk also isn't banner, but rather ross. Also, the red hulk is a terrible character.

  • I liked the effects of The Incredible Hulk better than the effects of Hulk.

I like Edward Norton's acting better than Eric Bana's.

I liked Hulk better than The Incredible Hulk, storyline-wise.

  • Great review. Couldn't agree more with every point. It's up there with The Dark Knight and the original 1980 Superman movie. I rarely see such strong character development for these movies which makes it so special when it happens. I think this film will come to be appreciated later.

  • Didn't like the 2003 hulk, but i loved the new movie

  • This film blew my mind when I saw it back in 2003. I was annoyed by people's dismissal reaction but became furious by how the idiot masses began recalling to it as an utter failure (among other things). "At least it's not like that awful abortion from 2003, LOL". Fuck you, you bloody plebs, it was a spectacular work of art. From the editing style, to the surface elements such as comic-influenced panelings, to the music and introspective/contemplative underlying tone of the film. Good review.

  • @Nevarent You have no right to call people who didn't enjoy the film idiots.

  • @SupremeCommander85 It is not only every man's right to tell the truth, it is his sacred duty.

  • @Nevarent Don't give me that bull crap, just because you liked the film doesn't mean everyone else will. Even NecroVMX got angry when Roger Ebert said that Transformers 2 was only a stupid movie that only stupid people would watch. Most of my friends thought that this was just an excuse for a summer blockbuster with a slow pace, horrible editing, and the fact that they added nanobots into his origin for no reason.

  • @SupremeCommander85 Oh wank off, it IS my right to call anyone an idiot; this is not Gestapotube. I stated my reason for doing so and you're welcome to disagree if you want.

So once again: I think the film was great and people who didn't (or don't) like it is an idiot. You or your friends think it's some "excuse" for whatever then go type that in the next comment box. And I'm not Necro so why the hell would you make the comparison. Maybe I don't always agree with him (or Ebert at that). The end.

  • @Nevarent Then in that case not only did you insult my family but you also insulted my friends and the remaining percentage of the population that hated the film. You comment only makes you look like a fucking idiot and a douche-bag for insulting people based on your own opinion. Are others not entitled t their own opinion? Are others supposed to like the movie just because you did? I'd say no to both. It's not our fault that you got a boner at seeing Hulk's CGI ass.

  • @SupremeCommander85 LMAO Jesus Christ, the irony.

    1. I had an opinion. Called people who disagree idiots.

    2. You disagree/had an opinion of your own. Called me an idiot.

So really, what the hell is the problem then. We disagree, I can do/say what I want and so can you. You want to bring your family into this that's your business. You want to be mad because someone thinks you have a shitty opinion, get off the internet.

    Now fuck along.

  • @Nevarent No, I called you an idiot for calling me and other people idiots, not for disagreeing with me.

  • what do yo think of Thor?

  • @DarthMex1991 good, not great

  • this was a bad review i think you better go back to trolling

  • @K0sakaiZero you are stupid.

  • @NecroVMX Thank you for this wonderful minority report. Nicely done.

  • @NecroVMX hahahahahah. love this movie.

  • @K0sakaiZero i have to agree you are stupid

  • dude i totally agree with you. i just saw the movie and it was really good! I guess people were just stupider back then.

  • Ang Lee had it right to begin with...

  • 2008 Hulk was extremely shallow, I liked the bit at the start in south America, that was cool, and we got an awesome hulk vs abomination fight at the end, which was fantastic, but the rest of the film was completely forgettable with a dead end story, no depth whatsoever.

I much preferred Ang Lee's Hulk.

  • @Ladiesman1447 ...plus it really seemed like the whole 2008 movie sledgehammered it's way to get to that last abomination part. Did anyone notice that Ross was trying to get at Banners blood the whole time, yet already had the serum to change the "heavy" AND got a storehouse full of Banner's blood in the third act?

  • @boredXsomethingXIDK Sure, if you're stupid as hell.

  • the BEST Hulk movie ever

  • you're right about the special effects... they look brilliant in this movie. some of the best i've ever seen. i haven't watched the hulk since it's release in 2003. i really should give it another chance. you're wrong about the special effects in the new star wars movies. they blew. they were outdated the following year. watch "sith" now, the effects are laughable... pretty fitting since the new trilogy is pretty laughable, too.

  • Yeah he hurt people! What about the ABRAMS (tank) he threw across the desert? Or the jet that flew into space??? I'm sure they're goners...

  • The 2003 hulk captured the hulks anger perfectly as a viewer you could actually feel his anger the 2008 hulk confused anger with just pure aggression.

  • I really didn't like either. As ridiculous as the whole superhero concept is, The Hulk is only one that just doesn't work as a movie. A guy gets angry and turns into a giant good-natured beast? That just doesn't do it for me.

  • HOW THE HELL CAN YOU COMPARE HULK TO THE DARK KNIGHT? The Dark Knight was a much better film because it was actually trying to be an impressive physiological thriller rather than just a superhero film. Hulk on the other hand was too confusing and was based around a mystery that we already know. The 2008 one was much better.

  • The Hulk from 2003 was far better than the new Hulk. He has a better physique and realistic movements. OK, lets argue about the skin color, but the plot was clearly more demanding. In addition, the first Hulk is bigger, which brings his power to express more. The second Hulk is too small, too skinny, too weak, and his appearance and his movements look as if they were taken from a PC game. If a movie has no plot, then being criticized. If the movie has a good plot, then it is too demanding. Hm?

  • the grea hulk represented what of the what?

  • I liked the 2003 one a lot in my opinion, it was a pretty good movie, even though it had its flaws, but I liked it way better than the 2008 one. The 2008 hulk was alright, but I felt it was an overuse of CG effects, and didn't have enough of the hulk in it. I don't think many would agree with me, but 2003 is actually superior to the 2008 hulk.

  • The 2008 one is probably better in it's being more reminiscent to the comic though.. I mean, the 2003 just had too much in it to take in, it would have been better to have it as sequels. A perfect movie would have had the start and ending of the 2008 movie, with the middle being the 2003 movie.

  • the reason it doesn't do well in theaters was because lesser action and too much dialogue! don't get to see hulk on screen until the second half of the film...

  • Necro you do realise Hulk was disliked due to it being far to complex. Most audiences do not associate Hulk with a deep pshycological bearings. I do like this film and it does deserve praise but I think most people want action.

  • @TDWTB So? I mean seriously, so what? I'm not most people.

  • @NecroVMX I know and thats good. You look deeper into a movie and can see why this one shines.

  • YES! This movie was ahead of its time, finally someone who understands

  • what sucks is I often see this movie on lists of worst comic book movies, and they all seem to praise the 2008 version. I guess you were right, people just wanted to see more hulk smash.

  • What do you think of the 2008 Hulk? I thought the 03 Hulk tried to be artsy yet tried to have the fun and goofiness of some of the comics, it just didn't mix, if you're going to go the serious route (Dark Knight) then go that route and leave out the hulk poddles and biting the tops off of missiles . If you're going to go the comic hero route (Iron Man) have fun with it and make hulk a bad ass. The 08 version had better action, wit, and captured the feel of the TV show, but lacked heart. 08>03

  • @kain702 the 2008 one was big dumb and loud. I hated it.

  • THANK YOU!!! I'm glad I'm not alone... 'Hulk' was good take on the characters and was faithful to the comics. Some people are too whiney to see that ._.

  • I like your review man, it does justice to a movie that was nearly condemned to scrap simply because the mindless majority wanted to see 'Hulk Smash'. The Incredible (Nonsensical) Hulk in 2008 defines consumerism; as long as it sells, make it, even if it's trash.

  • This explanation is right on target, the 2nd movie does not compare to this one.

  • I did find it wrong that Bruce was walking around naked.

  • I liked the character development in this film but I believe the story is too complicated for many to understand mixed with horrible "comic book-style" editing which is disorienting and ugly. Hulk tends to look like a "pissed of Shrek" and I will say the 2008 film had a better looking Hulk. The film not only moved faster than the 2003 one but it gave you the sense that Bruce was a troubled man whose craving for knowledge has caused him to hurt the one he loves which has scared him for life

  • @SupremeCommander85 And did it without going too far into his past.

  • i thought that the new hulk movie was pretty bad. it made me feel REALLY stupid. i mean come on! no plot? are you kidding me? that movie had no plot at all! although i do wanna check the 2003 one out though. great review :)

  • r u kidding me, The Incredible Hulk made up for all the flaws, u SUCK at reviews man, o and btw DC SUCKS!

  • @RedRex300 You are stupid and everything you have said or will say in the future is wrong.

  • @RedRex300 What flaws? You just wanted to see more hulk smash, and have less character development I'm assuming.

  • @Swidhelm It's I'm Amused not I'm Amusing.

  • @SupremeCommander85 ?? I think you may have misread the word. I used assume, not amuse.

  • @Swidhelm Oh, I apologize.

  • @SupremeCommander85 No worries. Cheers.

  • @RedRex300 I didn't like "The Hulk" (2003) either but you don't have to be rude considering it's his own opinion.

  • Oh my fucking god, I thought I was the only living creature who thought this movie was good.

  • @razorath92 I think those who didn't like it don't have attention spans long enough to take in things like character development, and story. They just wanted to see Hulk Smash and that was it. Had they just put out a montage of Hulk breaking stuff it would have done better, as we saw with the reboot :P That's my take anyways.

  • Nice review, man, you opened a new door to me for this film.

  • the split screens i felt were very tacky, and i hated the movie over all.

no disrespect though necro, i love watchin your reviews. but i cant find all the stephen king ones =/

  • Actually i only saw this in the Cinema when it came out. Didn't care for it thing but your review has convinced me to go back and watch it. Thanks! and this feature kicks ass Necro.

  • Edward Norton's version was better.

  • Wow! wasnt expecting a 9!!! you must have REALLY enjoyed it.

  • I enjoyed the second one far better. It was far more rooted in realism, i understand the irony in my wanting of a serious movie based on a comic book. It just seemed to have far more of a story apposed to the first which had much more to do with the psychology of the character. It would be wrong of me to claim that one is better than the other, each is unique in their own right. The first was deeper...but by the same token more contrived, and the second was more realistic but more dull moments

  • I liked this Hulk movie as a kid but now I think it is tacki.

  • Hulk Movie = Great story, decent amount of action, and overall a good experience. New Hulk Movie = Hulk SMASH! And no story.

I kinda like how Marvel did that, made a movie for all the book people who wanted a video version of the comic, or an idea of it, and then made a movie demonstrating what most people think the Hulk is all about... SMASH SMASH HULLLLK SMASSSSSH!

Great review my older brotha from another motha.

  • Before I saw this movie (and having never read the comics), I'd written off the Hulk as a one-dimensional meathead, but this really turned me around on the character. I liked this a lot better than the psuedo-reboot.

  • thats not why the move did bad one reason is that the movie is a mind fuck and the ending dose not make any dame senes and the movie is crap.

  • Nerco what's your opinion on Iron Man? do u give a shit about him?

  • @Zazzy234 definitely don't give a shit about the character, though you'll see my opinion of the movie soon enough

  • First, I want to say Hulk is my favorite superhero. I don't know why I didn't like this so movie that much. The story was pretty good and all with the psychology of the Hulk although I think David could've been better as a more psychological villain like the Leader and could've led to a better final battle than what we got. Now to 2008, I actually liked it more as it still touched on the psychology, had better action, and payed more homage to the old series with Bill Bixby that I love.

  • I saw this movie in the theatres when I was a kid and I thought it was awesome!

  • this is... a breath of fresh air

  • I never thought this was a terrible like some people do but something about it rubs me the wrong way. I didn't care for the daddy-issues main plot I suppose.

I have a bad feeling they're going to make the Hulk pretty goofy in the Avengers movie.

  • Excellent review Necro, I agree with you 100% though at times I still have trouble really understanding what the hell is going on at some points i do love the depth of the plot. They should switched the movies releases with the more action heavy new movie back in 03 and this one recently

  • great review man i love this movie, seen it twice in the cinema. My friends hate it and there reason is its to long. Glad to hear your a deadpool fan. Id love to see a good deadpool movie ryan reynolds was great as wade wilson in the wolverien film, too bad they fucked up deadpool's character towards the end

  • great review, as always. I've only seen the movie when I was really young, I need to watch it again. Also, I actually liked The Incredible Hulk

  • I really enjoyed the depth of this Hulk movie, and as a fan of the old and current Hulk comics, found it to be as close to the old Hulk comics as possible. The 2008 one was a bit too... Dull, and strained.

Though, I do have one question; David Banner - Zzzax or Absorbing Man? That always confused me, as he seems to be the former over the latter, at least initially. Now, I feel he was a reinterpretation of the latter. Just interested in what you think.

  • @Deckof51 He's a mixture of both really, but I always think of him as absorbing man

  • great review...i"m surprised you did not like the 2008 version more though

  • Great review.
