@usbfridge Actually, when you first get to Viridian City, you see the old man on his side, because he hasn't had his coffee yet. So, the game could have copied that sprite and made it so that you would see it here if you used the gameshark codes. It may seem messed up, yes, but it could be possible with old games such as these.

can't say why the old man's there, but it might have something to do with how you bypassed towns and such, also sometimes event data has different uses than just what the programmers wanted for it, if there's anything I've learned, its that this game is sporadic as.....well....the mew glitch....

That WTW code is kinda....iffy, i use it every now and then when I can't use ingame means.

As for the ABCD, thats kinda like missingno, the game read data it could, but the data is misdirected...kinda.

you get a similar glitch by using this glitch and skipping seeing Prof. Oak, then going back through palet town, the reason you see the old man is because its running the npc script for a walking character, which was unspecified because you basically broke the script, therfore, old man starts off floating, then ends up hanging in a tree in the woods
