I do believe this diet works perfectly for the human body (living in Sweden I've known many people who switched to LCHF with remarkable effects) but, I was wondering, if everyone in the world could switch to LCHF, would it be sustainable (especially the HF part, since animals require way more space to be raised than, for exemple, a cereal cultivation)?
Just like to say; whenever they claim that "the science is settled" you know you should be sceptical..
Have quite recently read up on LCHF and finally things are starting to make sense and the old school scientific advise about lite products is where it belongs, in the bin.
For those who are not familliar; the statement about trying to eathimself to death is a reference to Sten Sture Skaldeman, one of the pioneers in LCHF. He was dying from obesity and dieting made things worse. He gave up and started eating fatty foods that he had missed, lost 90Kg and became healthy.
So true about telling friends. Had to inform them as I no longer eat carbs such as snacks at get together etc. and every single one had their advise to give and some warnings about why LCHF was dangerous without them ever even having heard about LCHF before or studying the subject. Now I really need to show them it works >-D
Going low carb helped me feel amazing and lose 25 lbs in 2.5 months. I am timidly going the high fat route now and kinda scary. Especially difficult since my husband is 13 years post cardiac bypass and sort of frowns on fats. The LC aspect has helped my 16 year old son shape up, he's always been overweight although not eating noticeably more than other kids. He is trimming the body fat and, due to his athletics, building the muscle. He's happy with LC!
Btw, LC is not LC at all. You get sufficient carbs from all the vegetables you eat. Carbs, as an addition to all the good micro-nutrients in vegetables and fruits, just happens to be totally sufficient for one's need per day. Mother nature isn't stupid.
LCHF will be the diet and lifestyle for 2012 and beyond. Grain and low fat food producers should be very worried. Watch grain shares drop over the next 3 years. Grains will be used solely for those who are starving as meat, fish and veg are very expensive. Please share this excellent video to others you care about.
VCO (virgin coconut oil) is an excellent source of "good" saturated fat. Awesome when melted with organic butter to cook foods, preferably at lower temps, especially when cooking in ceramic.
Carbs don't MAKE you fat. Insulin insensitivity and excessive carb intake can lead to excessive fat storage. We need to be clear in what we say otherwise it sounds like are kooky.
@seriousstrength carbs are just calories. but your body handles them differently. too many carbs throw your endocrine system out of whack. endocrine system controls everything including how hungry you get and how much insulin you produce. the result is you eat more than you need because your leptin signalling telling you to stop eating and your insulin control gets messed up. then you get fat. ergo carbs do make you fat
I eat this way every day and I feel superb. I had lots of illnesses and they are now gone. I finally wake up without aches and pains and I sleep like a baby. I never slept before. I eat only meat, eggs, butter and cheese. And I love it. Today I am eating pizza for lunch.
@MegaProtectors I actually advise people to shop around the perimeter of the store. Work your way around the edges...hit the bacon, sausage, and cheese, then onto the butter, eggs, and cheese...next the beef, chicken, and fish, and finally the produce. If it comes in a can, a bag, or a box, you probably don't need it. :-)
@lonelymarker regarding bacon, avoid the mass-produced bacon in the supermarket... it's rather scary. Hit a good butcher shop that makes it the old-fashioned way - much healthier.

All this does for me is remind me of Anons video. "message to scientology" The swedish LCHF-movement is about as fanatic as the followers of the Church of $cientology
There is nothing "new" about this diet. LCHF diets were popularized by Dr. Robert Atkins in the 1970s, and had resurgence in popularity in the 1990s. Before him, there was literature stretching back to the 1800s about the efficacy of LCHF diets and the dramatic results that they could induce with respect to weight loss (lookup William Banting). This diet only seems new because the mainstream medical community has been more vocal in promoting low fat diets, which have a higher failure rate.

If you eat too many carrots, you can turn orange. It happened to me as a baby; the medical condition is called Carotenosis.

You can go into any supermarket today, and I am sure that 95 percent of what they sell, you can throw in the trash immediately.
You only need to eat basic food as meat, fish, eggs, cream, butter, vegetables etc.
Carbs make you fat, end of story.

Precis som med tallriksmodellen. Man blir lurad i skolan att den fungerar. Som en del av utbildningen. Helt sjukt.

@LCHFDOTSE I like the video in that it answers most of the common objections to low carbohydrate diets. You did a good job.

Just make sure that it doesn't have trans fats in it like most do from fast-food joints and don't eat the white bread buns.
