  • Thumbs up for Ireland. ^^

  • I have had a good time wandering about YouTube listening to various interpretations of this piece of music. I like the way the Clannad arrangement uses "is go dthe tu mo huirin slan" as a way to break the verses up for a more tragic/fatalistic feel.

Having put in my comparative analysis ( degrees in both engineering and music--can't avoid such actions) I love this song. This is a sweet dark version of a classic from Ireland's musical heritage. I find myself humming this song daily.

  • simply...luv it!

  • 2 people are lonely and deaf

  • Shule, shule, shule aroon,

Shule go succir agus, shule go kewn,

And safe for aye may my darling be! ♥

"Shewl go suckie rag or sure, go queuing. Shewl go dare a sock, or sell me long".

  • keep galic alive teach me

  • fine, fine lovely music. Thanks a lot, Clannad.

  • diese version gefällt mir besser als die, die auf der CD von lord of the dance drauf ist!

  • i like the chorus a lot, specially after my Irish neighbor told me what it means

  • So lovely. Moving my heart and soul

  • Such a beautiful Irish love song! Though kind of sad as well, when u understand the words that is.

  • @Ultima912 To us Irish this is more than a lovesong. It laments the fate of many of our young men - forced by starvation and the application of the Penal Laws to earn their living in the armies of France, Spain and Austria. But then love is sweet sorrow

  • Wonderful. This is why I keep coming back to traditional Irish music, it has such emotion to it. That, and spot on melodies. Sláinte mhaith!

  • Lovely ♥
