What is her age/weight? Putting your child in a booster seat too early is extremely dangerous! She needs to be at LEAST 4 yrs and 40 lbs to legally ride in a booster seat! Not to mention mature enough to not wiggle in the seatbelt, and make sure the belt fits across her shoulders and not her neck, and tightly across her pelvis, not her stomach! There are a lot of options to keep her harnessed longer, a much safer option for an older toddler, many seats have a 65lb even 80lb harness limtit.
hi! She weighed only 18 or 19 pounds so she couldnt yet be seated in a convertible seat(at least 22 lbs). She looks 1 or 2 inches taller than she really is, and that's because of the coat she has on, and the green "cushion" she's sitting on. And yes the straps were incorrectly fastened (we were hurrying up. it was cold :)). But we readjusted it after getting in the car.
Actually, she doesnt have to be 22lbs to be in a convertable seat rear facing, they start at 5lbs. A combination seat ( foward facing harness to booster) is what you are probably thinking of :) But good job on the rear facing! She should be rear facing until she's at least 33lbs or outgrows the convertable seat by height! Its FIVE times safer than foward facing!
Yup i was thinking of the booster seat! i didnt realize a convertible seat could be rear facing. anyway, that's a good point to remember for other parents out there.
Its great that you want to keep her rear facing, but she should be rear facing in a convertable seat. Not an infant seat, she is too tall. :) KatMomof3 is right, time for a new seat and maybe an inspection of your installation because the straps are incorrectly placed.
FYI: Bulky Coats/Clothes are not recommended for use in carseats.

she's too big for that seat... you want at least 1" of hard shell above her head when rearfacing.
Also, the straps should be on her shoulders, not over her arms... and the chest clip at her armpits.
Time for a new seat
