I heard a Punjabi song about 50 years ago "Mera pyaar karan nu ji karda" sung by Vidya Nath Seth. Anand Bakhshi, the writer of the song must have sung the first line of song 'Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai" in the same tune as that of the Punjabi song while giving the song to Manoj ji or Laxmi Pyare ji otherwise so much similarity is not possible.Everyone knows that Anand Bakhshi himself was a good singer and sang a duet with Lata ji

I am originally Belgian & spent my childhood close to the Indian culture tks to my best friend. He's here now from the other side of the world: his dear mother Malek just passed away. I recall when we were in the kitchen together in the early 70s, preparing food and... singing indian songs (I did'nt understand the words!). Please, don't vulgarize this song by calling it "awesome" or "tooooo good". Listen to it. Watch the video carefully. See how a lower middle class family is doing their outing. Most probably living in Antop Hill or some such ghetto. Not exactly a slum but a ghetto all the same. Look at the heroine. Not so good-looking but wearing the best she has on a Sunday outing to the sludgy beach. Watch long enough and you will see her prosaic death in the excrement-ridden rail tracks of Mumbai Mahanagari.
