When I first saw a picture of Nero I thought he might me Dante's son (as Dante mentions something about a son at the end of 1) but Capcom confirmed that he is not blood related to Sparda and he just looks like a Sparda twin because that is the "style" of DMC and they didnt want to stray too far from Dantes characteristics (like MGS2 did with Raiden)

Yeah, Sanctus himself said that he carried the blood of Sparda. Personally I think this is so because that Devil Bringer is DEFINITELY related to Vergil. There is no way Dante is Nero's father. Dante is in his twenties while Nero is in his late teens.

The creation of Nero was one of the best things in the series, the chance to have this kind of touching moments without ruining the image of Dante, i really like how Nero and Kyrie relationship was driven in the game (well, for DMC story standars)anyway, good game, i hope that in DMC5 we have the chance to see Nero again.

I remember this playing for the first time in the Final Trailer of DMC 4 were Nero and Kyrie were trap in some sort of dark void and as Nero tried to grab Kyrie's hand she began to fade away. Man, I was like gonna be pissed if she were to be killed off. Good thing she wasnt. =3

He truly is, but of course to create an in depth plot they had to add more characters to add in new story. Although, Nero not as great as Dante he does give way to the possible resurrection of Vergil, which I think any DMC would love to see.
