Digital zoom in video mode on the S8000 is ass. Don't bother zooming.
I wish I had known about the S9100 when I bought the S8000 earlier in the year. It's a superior camera e.g. 1080p video recording (vs 720p), 18x zoom (vs 10x), less noise with the new image sensor compared to the image sensor used in the S8000. The downside is that it's only 12MP and doesn't do macro photography (4cm vs 1cm in the S8000).
I bought this camera, but realised that when making movies the audio has a constant pitched noise in high frequences. And I ask myself: why is there the choice to have stereo audio, if there is a noise stereo? Why the seller tried to convince me that this sound is normal for this kind of cameras. I had a Pentax Optio E35, lower quality and lower price than the Nikon S8000 and this noise doesn't exist. The Nikon S8000 is a camera for photo, but not for videos. I really feel fooled.
@RyeLime22 No this is not true:) The camera has a really good zoom, you can safely use during the concert while you record the video:) For a concert is perfect, because it has two stereo microphones that capture the sound very well... The worst is that the zoom feels much, but during a concert, between screams, music and more, I doubt it will be a problem;) Happy shopping! :D
Maybe Ishould have watched these clips...the quality is not good, its not fluent but (I'dont know how to say it engish) is shocky. What''s worse is that the picture are no good also; at best comparable with my Coolpix 5200 (5.1 megapixels) from 2005....I'm disappionted..
the quality looks great these fools below me dont know what they talkin about. First off, youtube takes away clarity in a video when its uploaded. Second, their computers might suck, and have a horrible video card for watching HD video, so they dont see the quality either way. I can tell this camera is good

to view this video in HD 720P you have to adjust video to 720P on the right Conner of the Video , otherwise it's only show 360P look like Crap .

Going for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7. That is really good HD video.
