Well I use the charcoal that already has lighter fluid in it. I also put paper underneath just to help it grow faster. Also use a good amount of charcoal because at first I was being cheap with it but now I use 1/4 of the bag. Leave an area without charcoal to let certain meats that take longer to cook really cook. You dont want to have the outer layer burnt & the inside pink. Practice makes perfect! Now I have my whole family begging for me to grill! Good luck!!

you have to have a good fire! when the fire goes up and hits the meats it gives those nice lines.
