  • Really like your review here - thank you. According to my research, these Audio-Technica ATH-A700's will use up to 64 ohms impedance to drive them; I imagine that while on-board audio will work, to really get the most out of a set of this type of headphone, you should drive them properly (ASUS Xonar Essence, for ex). Also, several videos indicate headphones, like these, sound much better after they are burned in for 16-24 hours. I am buying these, thanks again!

  • you keep changing them from hand to hand!!!! WHY?!

  • Is the chord detachable?

  • Gaming headsets are ridiculous. Just buy a really good pair of headphones. Like these, Grado 60s, or Sennheiser 5xx series. whose quality is always going to be better than headsets and get a Zalman clip-on mic for $10 - which is better than any headset mic.

  • @DarkFilmDirector I know you commented this a month ago, but with a 150 budget, what would you reccomend for the best overall setup?

  • These or ath-m50?

  • hey aka sorry but help me please what is the best for gaming AD 700 OR Astro 2011 thanks

  • Jimmy eat world. nice

  • Too bad.

    They don't have a mic

  • красафчик

  • really good man, i loved it. I like how you go into tiny things like the material making you sweat after a while, it's awesome :D

  • akaTRENT what is the best headphone for professional games? are opnião you in this a700?

  • these or the hd518's?

  • I'm looking for a good Headphone for games and listen to musics like Rock, Metal, Dubstep and watch videos on YouTube. I bought the X-Fi Titanium HD, which has its own Amp for headphones. I don't wanna expend more than 200 dollars, so which headphone would you recommend to me? Thx for your help =)

  • I hate this whole braided cloth cord thing companies keep doing now. In my experience it's no more durrable and in fact possibly less because I've had some start to fray in areas.

  • I know they are not in the same area of sound but if you had to compare these to the Astro A40s sound wise which is better overall?

  • The reason why they have that "garbage bag" material on ear pads is because the material used on ear pads actually has drastic effect on how the headphones sound and how well they insulate outside noise. These are closed headphones for a reason. They're made for studios, where you need complete silence. This leatherette material makes the bass more controlled and punchy and insulates outside noise better, while cloth material would make bass sound more loose and would not insulate noise.

  • shout*

  • fa sho man, ur the shit. i went open, ill probably grab both to not distract a roomate. I appreciate your review and shot out to some forums as well.

  • why do you dont sad that these are a total copy of the steelseries siberias ?

  • @mersimh Another moron.... steelseries didnt even make headphones when these were made. Audio Technica is one of the oldest and most known high-end audio equipment makers, steelseries is just for mindless morons who know NOTHING about sound. There's a reason why they cost less than the cable for these audio technicas.

  • # if i connect it straight to my desk top monitor with out any amp will i hear every note in the songs ?

  • Do these need an amp to power properly?..for listening through an ipod/ cowon

  • you have been sleeping on the a40's you prick!!!

  • is it surround sound

  • @Ryan2391997 stereo, go get a 5.1 set up if you want surround.

  • @Ryan2391997 every headset has the possibility to be 5.1 (digital) all you need is a decoder for dolby pro-logic audio....

  • Will these drain the crap out of an Ipod, and can they drive an Ipod okay?

  • LOL I was playing Snake :D when its loading press left left;D

  • Hmm Not rushing you but... Where's the Nox Audio Specialist Gaming Headset Review?I wanna see if it breaks easily or other stuff about it.

  • Trent, Can you review the Nyko Intercooler? Im thinking of buying it but I dont know if its worth it.

  • hey, have you tried the Grado SR60i for gaming? I would like to know how those perform for gaming

  • Audiophile or gaming headphones? dont compromise!!!!

For audiphile gaming experience pair the Sennheiser HD 595 with the Earforce DSS. For chat and great sound quality experience pair the Logitech F540 with the Earforce DSS. My point is that using external mics for the audiophile headset is not as a nice solution as one would expect. Is better to get two pair of cans that are dedicated to their specific area. Audiophile=sound quality, Gaming headphones for chat. RPGs are beast w/ audiophile

  • superb review bro!

  • The Zalman... I still wanna know why it's so popular. They are GARBAGE. For less than $3, you can order a Deal Extreme clip on that DESTROYS the Zalman in every single way. The only problem is the 4 week wait for it after you order them... -_- The stupid Zalman begs you to YELL at the mic to pick up your voice.

  • I actually really enjoy these brief one-take reviews. Easier to digest for someone like me; entry-level dude.

  • @nexy Id enjoy them too if I didnt mess up so much ugh. haha

  • @akaTRENT So if these arent that good then what is the headset that you suggest for me to get in the future. i bought the AX180 but because of psn failure havent been able to use it, i checked your review and based my purchase on that.

  • Bose AE2!!!

  • Nice review!

  • WATCH MY VIDEO ASSHOLE I ALWAYS WATCH YOURS

IM MAKING JOKES 5 TODAY SO HOPE YOU WATCH AND COMMENT

  • AD-700 are the ones you should get for gaming purposes (open-back design)

  • @WorldsEliteDeatHaze open isnt always better for gaming, its all dependent on your ears and from what ive told, where you're playing, like at say a Circuit Event (MLG) you definitely want a closed / Semi-closed (like a40s) headset for it.

  • @NotSoFailuyr thats definitely true, but for at-home use where it won't disturb anyone an open headphone would definately provide a much larger soundstage and have a nice airy feel to it

  • @WorldsEliteDeatHaze thats true from what I've heard. I'm by no means an audiophile. And doesnt closed back help bass "thump" or am I mistaken?

  • @NotSoFailuyr generally speaking; yes closed-back headphones do have a better thump to the bass which can be good, but if it's too heavy especially in gaming, it can blow your ears out like when say a grenade goes off or an airstrike bombs you... it just depends on the cans frequency response itself really

  • @WorldsEliteDeatHaze I like the amount of bass on my astros (Dont flame, I know they arent the best) and I know its considered a bass light headset. I listen to music with them and want more (when Im not using the mixamp especially).

  • @NotSoFailuyr for music and good bass the best and cheapest headphone i can recommend is the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 for around ~$100+

  • Excellent review! I use the Senn HD 558s with the Zalman clip-on mic hooked up to my Yamaha RX-V659 with Silent Cinema. The HD 558s feature the same drivers as the PC 360s and don't have that huge mic, so I can use them for more than just gaming. I must say, this setup is waaaay better than the Turtle Beach PX-21, Tritton AX-720, AX-Pro, and Astro A40 system, all of which I have returned. The sound quality is much crisper, clearer, and more accurate than any of the afformentioned headsets.

  • These or ad700 for gaming?

  • These or ad700?

  • wooo

  • did he review the sen 360's ?

  • hey trent how would you adapt these to console gaming, i noticed it looked like a 3.5mm jack on the end. Also I didn't understand the mic clip attachment comment you said.

  • Could you do a review with the Sennheiser HD555? I just wondering how good they sound for gaming and their sound stage. Im hearing a lot of good things for them.

  • Beast review bro your the man !

  • @akaTRENT oh I thought you were just backed up with so many things to review cause you do a pretty good job and take your time with the presentation. my condolences man, best of luck to you and those around. I love your stuff though. couldn't wait for your A40 review so I just bought it and tested it myself. it's a good headset but I like the PC 360s better for gaming. A40s were nicer for music. i guess a better multi-purpose set. well that's for another time. keep up the awesome work!

  • @jsnlee102 I kind of agreed. You'll see in my review.

  • Not First!

  • where is the Astro A40 review???

  • awesome review man :D

  • Another great review as always.

  • Will u be doing a review on the 2011 A40's soon? great reviews!

  • @TheUjam i think he's scared to review the a40's compared to the other headsets like the PC360. i've used both and ended up sticking with the PC 360s. He's a pretty heavy fan of the Astro Gaming Mixamp so maybe he doesn't want to insult them. I was thinking that and right when he started talking about the A40's it was edited and he never finished what he was going to say. A40's have good bass and decent sound. but for gaming, I stuck with the PC 360s

  • @jsnlee102 I agree with you. I think anyone that has used any of the other top name headsets learns quick that the only thing special about the astros is the price.

  • @jsnlee102 lol nice conspiracy theory, but thats not the case. Thinks came up like a death in the family. the a40 review is written and they got a very good score. that is all I will sat for now.

  • @jsnlee102 Haven't you also noticed it takes me forever to put reviews?

  • @TheUjam Yes! Just give me some time.

  • Can you PLEASE!!! review the Plantronics Gamecom x95 wireless xbox headset (they work on ps3 to)

  • dude.... I love your reviews, I love your voice, I love your hair. damn your awesome

  • How about a PX5 review?

  • Nice work as always. +1 like

  • Compared to the A40's and...cut

  • nice review dude

  • 3rd

  • Coming back trent one its finish processing.Still 240p xD
