  • Many thanks for this video, So nice to see old sets like this. Modern TVs can do so much, but they have no character :)

  • You drove your friend in your Truck lol.

  • it could be bad capaciters

  • I remember having a TV just like that in the living room! I remember watching something Disney with my sister while my parents were chasing the cows or somethings. Years later my sisters would turn the soap operas on. I miss childhood

  • Judge Judy... :)

  • That's not 32 years old.

  • looks a lot like the tv grandma and grandpa had back then. i remember have to adjust the vertical and horizontal on it sometimes cause the screen would roll. ;-)

  • you know,, CRT Tv picture quality beats the hell out the new flat panels, on all the vids i watch, it seems the only gripe most people have about the CRTs is the weight! LOL

  • Electrolytic Capacitors In The Power Supply Circuit are leaking, thats why it takes Ages to Power up

  • bon curry!

  • how much would a tv like that worth?

  • Cool.

  • I have the same set and turns on instantly.. I don't understand the delay on your set, they are not vacuum tube sets.. I've had mine on for a few months straight about two years ago when analog was still around.. It still works but hardly ever use it...

  • Mine is dated 1981.. and is the same exact make and model.. They are not remote compatible...

  • By then TV's were all solid state. Only the CRT should be a tube by this time.

  • I have a television similar to that but made in 1983 and the control area is a little different. I found it on the curb side a few weeks ago and it works like brand new. Picture comes in good and sound and only takes like 10 seconds for the screen to come in. I was wondering if it was remote compatible. Here is the model number: S1983W.

  • caps are leaking, replace the caps and its as good as new

  • judge judy

  • is this a half tube and half solid state

  • @peugteobike The last 1/2 tube, 1/2 solid state sets made by Zenith were in the early 70's....

  • I remember playing nintendo as a kid on that same model...

  • It sounds like it has some capacitors getting flaky. This could be why it is taking so long to come on.

  • my grandparents had this model tv for years til it died.

  • no problem...my Dad had a TV shop many moons ago, and Zenith was our brand.....we sold them all day long at $399.00, the remote version was $479.00. Consider what you get today for that same price...

  • Yeah for that same price, your tv would last all of 6 months.

  • @bluebirdvision

you're joking, right? a modern LCD or Plasma can last 10 years, if you don't drop it. Actually, the only limit is the bulb; newer plasma's don't outgas, and hence they basically never die. LCD bulbs can die, and they suffer from burn-in images, but that's an easy thing to fix...They also have a better picture, if you haven't noticed.

On the other hand, this is a pretty cool TV. I do have to say that old stuff usually has much more physical durability than newer products.

  • @twintornados yeah , for 479. you get a low end Plasma with a crappy picture! a low low end is about 300 bucks, and i tell you, the picture SUCKS! CRT all the way Baby!

  • @Dreambro1 While I can agree that cathode ray tubes are inherently better than LCDs' etc etc....the only good CRT was Zeniths' EFL "inline" gun setup....expensive to make and when the hordes of overseas crap first hit our shores....the Zenith was out priced....never out classed....just out priced.

All in the history books now....Zenith finally succumbed and was bought up and dismantled by LG....

  • @twintornados You are absolutely right. Zenith actually set the standard everyone had to try to reach and never could. Yup. Zenith's EFL, 25VETP22. It rocked. Zenith knew picture tubes. The Chromacolor tube, the EFL, and the Flat High Tension Shadow Mask. Zenith made great stuff that lasted for years. I still have a 33 year old Zenith with the EFL, System 3. The best Zenith ever! "The Quality Goes In Before The Name Goes On." No truer words ever said.

  • @Dreambro1 Know what ya mean,...I still have my 20" JVC table model TV that I bought back in 1999,and it has just as good a picture as these new fangled LCD sets do,...and another thing,my JVC has NEVER seen the inside of a repair shop or been touched by a repairman. CRT sets forever! I'll keep my JVC til she quits!

  • Looks like an older Y1920W

  • Thanks for the information

  • digital tunning tv set the first tv that uses this kind of system was the philips KL1 26 inchs hybrid color tv, in 1971 this is the first in the wolrd to uses digital memory tunning system and digital infrared remote control, this color tv was a Brazilian Philips project vacuum tubes was used in the horizontal and vertical outputs and RGB amplifiers, the audio IF channel lumina and chroma circuits uses transistors and ICS, so like the digital tunning and color volume and picture controls

  • my friend has same tv we plau halo 3 on it useing a modulater

  • I used to use it to play PS2, before I got a new set. This set is very good for that.

  • 32 years are you sure? i didnt know they had digital tuners back then. looks like its about 25 years old maybe

  • i was thinking the same thing

  • aging capacitors and/or dry joints in the power supply and line output/HV circuits

  • I haven't seen this particular problem before in a solid state set...it looks like it has a very good picture once it comes on, though!

  • Thank you,

This is my Fav. TV in the whole house. Let me get you some model numbers...
