Don't people need to extend the barrel by half an inch in order to fit a silencer? Usually tactical versions of pistols are threaded for use with sound suppressor. When it comes to movies, it's seems very nonsensical fitting a suppressor on the Walther PPK or the outdated M1911 pistol, but in reality? Same rules don't apply anymore. 1911 in this video looks alot modern which explains why it can use a suppressor.

Hey, I didn't say that it doesn't have to be threaded. Of course it does. I just said that you don't need to extend the barrel to do so. A market-threaded pistol is probably just a better option, rather than having to get it done later like you can with almost any other non threaded pistoll. Just for the record H&K USP was released in 1993...thats a little while after Nam buddy. Cheers

@Lzztopz This isn't directed mainly towards you, so don't take it too personal; but JESUS the ignorance of people on here - The Colt 1911 (and the morepart of its commercial variants) fire the .45 ACP which is a SUBSONIC ROUND, it is shorter and less powerful than the standard .45 caliber, full sized supersonic round and thus makes less noise.

And this is no doubt as silent as you're ever going to get with a 1911..

btw, I've talked with the dealers and own a gemtech outback. If you call up a gun dealer and ask for either a silencer or suppressor, the dealer will know what you are talking about and help you, not be like WTF WHY WOULD YOU CALL IT A SILENCER INSTEAD OF SUPPRESSOR. They mean the same thing in the gun world, suppressor is just used more now-a-days because silencers don't truely silence guns so it's a little more appropriate. But, both terms work.
