  • thanks for uploading

  • The guy at 7;21. He was my WO2 in later life.....

  • Only 30 years old? Not much changed then???

  • we don't hide cross border and press a button. we stand and fight you tosser

  • paras are just child murdering cowards

  • @WAXY950

Shut the fuck up you piece of shit. You irish are like fucking monkeys. If you're looking for murderers, take a look at your cowardly heroes, the IR"A".

  • @LuciusCorneliusMacro paras are just cowardly child murderers sorry if the truth hurts

  • @WAXY950

Yes, the truth hurts. That's why I'm feeling fine right not. I'll tell you something other that hurts though, getting punched by the next Para you meet, that'll hurt.

Those Cowards called the IRA have killed more civilians than the Paras ever will do. The IRA are not even brave enough to show their own faces, fucking cowards.

  • @LuciusCorneliusMacro and what has the ira do with the fact that paras are just child murdering cowards

all youre doing is trying and failling to justify murdering children

  • @WAXY950

It was the IRA's fault that events such as Bloody Sunday occured.

  • @LuciusCorneliusMacro funny that seeing as no ira where involved or indeed got murdered trying to justify gunning down unarmed men and children is rather scummy

  • @WAXY950

Without the IRA the British wouldn't have had to send any soldiers to Norther Ireland, Soldiers that always were tense because the IRA hide behind the women and children when they attack.

  • @LuciusCorneliusMacro well that just goes to show that you know nthing worth knowing then :)

why where soldiers sent to northern ireland then ?

try to justify gunning down children all you like dosnt alter the fact that the paras are child murdering scum

  • @WAXY950 your boring mate, you must have a sad life to comment on every para video.

  • @94GURMINDER the paras are scum

  • @WAXY950

Soldiers were sent to NI because of scumbags like the IRA kept on killing civillians in their campaigns of terror.

I'm not trying to justify gunning down innocent people, that's exactly why I am defending the Paras.

  • @LuciusCorneliusMacro well you know nothing then even if you knew that youd know something but you dont ;)

the paras murdered children they are cowardly scum

  • @WAXY950

Shut the fuck up you little son of a bitch. You're nothing but a pathetic troll, going around on the internet trying to piss people of so that you can get your fix of thinking that you have any power.

You were in that load of cum that your momma should've swallowed.

  • @LuciusCorneliusMacro im not the one on here trying to justify shooting down children

  • @WAXY950

And neither am I you piece of shit.

  • Some bloody good moustaches

  • RIP Al Slater

  • Al Slater. Hero.

  • the officers appear bigger and stronger than the regulars.

  • why doesnt Prince Charles fight?

  • You come on a PARAs video mug off the paras ? you lot are pathetic, just remember IF a war breaks out where Britian faces the risk of invasion, take time to think, the cowardly IRA are not coming to save you, the british army is.

  • paras are just cowardly child murderers

  • @WAXY950 shut the fuck up mate

  • @Paramorefan555 or fucking what ? :-)

  • @WAXY950 how the fuck can you call them that, do you even acknowledge what the paras job is at the end of the day, to protect the country and ultimatlely protect you, fucking prick

  • @Paramorefan555 They dont protect my country fuckwit and what kind of job is murdering kids ?

  • what a load of shit the opening statement was

  • hi, could anyone tell me who was at aldershot has the training changed at all much since then start cic para sunday?

  • The Paras are a truly awesome regiment. Amen to the Parachute Regiment I say.

  • The narrator wrongly claimed that "none of them had been to war before". I believe there was at least one exception, Major John Crosland who saw action with the SAS.

  • I have excellent idea how to leave barracks (for night out etc..) without being spotted. When all officers go home in the evening I would wait and 2 hours longer I would go to night club .Later I would go back to the barracks 2 hours before officers go to work in the morning ..Excellent idea isn't ...

  • Well, some people try to pick up girls and get called an asshole this never happened to Pablo Picasso. He could walk down your street and girls could not resist his stare so Pablo Picasso was never called an asshole Well, the girls would turn the colour of an avocado when he would drive down the street in his El Dorado he could walk down your street and girls could not resist his stare Pablo Picasso was never called an asshole not like you.
  • Thats itc catterick

  • evidently, 2 people who saw this video were Argentines

  • Best army in the world.

  • does any1 knw if there is a weight requirement to join?

  • Comment removed

  • @555GC The Army is 60kg I believe and the Royal Navy/Marines is 65kg

  • @555GC Well mate, I met [barely] the weight requirement when I attended my army careers adviser interview recently.

I'm short and ridiculously light-weight at 7 and a half stone. before that I was 6 and three quarters, it took me about a week to get to 7 and a half. You probably don't have anything to worry about, they don't come much skinnier than me. ;]

  • Billy Connelly was a TA para trooper

  • I remember watching this on tv aged 11 & all I wanted to do was join the paras , I failed the medical due to high frequency hearing loss caused by firing blanks on exercise in the cadets ! No ear defenders in those days

  • @wesmander wow. wtf?!

I can see now why they get us to wear them now!

  • can anyone tell me what the selection tests/criteria was for this generation? thanks

  • Oppening statement is not correct, and qite insulting to the other forces involved.

  • @EdGeyy

I agree with you, the opening statement not at all balanced. I think all the forces put their lives on the line, and that includes the Merchant Navy that supported the operations in the Falklands. I would not take anything from anyone that wears uniform for their country. I know the Paras took a lot of casualties, but the Royal Navy lost 86 men. That's 33% of the KIA.

  • @lukequixotesanjose 'er Majesty's jollies!

  • Just started reading Call Sign Hades about an Irish guy in the Para's - good read so far

  • Slater got killed whilst serving with 22 SAS by a bunch of IRA Wankers.

  • one of the guys who failed in the prgramme joined the black watch after it i was serving when he came to our regiment in west germay 1982

  • 0:45 proof that captain price started as a para !

  • when this programme came out i was about eleven years old and one time got talking to a couple of guys on the train near Aldershot who were doing the course and they said that actually the training the do is a lot harder the the programme shows.

  • I think the Royal Marines had an equal role to play in this regarding the opening statement.

  • @goneindaed Yes, but not at the battles he mentioned

  • @goneindaed you would

  • @goneindaed who id better the royal marines or the paras

  • @goneindaed Marines are navy, he stated "in the army" but i see where you are coming from.

  • Are they always this nice and cushy to recruits in the British Army? Either way...long live Britain from the US =)

  • @MajorKoenig2 Lol! Different approaches I guess, it is their first day after all, you should check out the whole series (This guy's got them all on YT), don't worry they do get pretty tough on them, especially in the episode "Basic Wales," and "P Company."

Watch the whole series though, its really enjoyable, makes me wish I'd gone into something like this.

  • @MajorKoenig2

we have yet to lose a war,

  • Brilliant series, thanks for sharing !

  • Haha Brilliant. Hoping to join 106 Medical Regiment and get my wings! Does anyone know when this was made?

  • Cpl Al Slater later joined the SAS

  • Cpl Pollard was my recruiting sgt when i joined the H/cav in portsmouth in 95

  • Thoses Paras/soldiers of the 1980's they loved a good porn tache ! lol!

  • @spursloyal71 can't beat a good porn tache. :P

  • AL SLATER - GOOD EGG. R.I.P

  • Al Slater - Training Corporal later joined 22nd SAS Regiment, where he won the MM for bravery. He was sadly killed in an IRA ambush in 1985.

  • WHO WRITES THESE STUPID COMMENTS. DICK HEADS WITH ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE OF DUTY OR HONOUR, ALL WITH ONE THING IN COMON. NONE WOULD LAST HALF AN HOUR AT P COMPANY, ALL HAVE PROBABLY BEEN SLAPPED NUMEROUSE TIMES FOR BEING DICKS AND ALL ARE COMPLETE WASTES OF SPACE.

  • @Nautilus1972 fuck off you silly cunt

  • @Nautilus1972 You've posted similar sentiments on the Marines. I'm intrigued, why exactly are you spending your time watching footage of these men if you view them as such pitiful, deluded fools?

  • @SentinelConvergence simply because he knows he will never be able to match the fitness of the paras and cant kick ass like they can

  • And anyone wishing to mention terrorism., mark this. Tony Blair and George W, Bush are both war criminals having launched an illegal 'war' against Iraq - a 'war' not sanctioned by the U.N. When anyone else does that they're terrorists, when America or Britain does it it's called 'counter-terrorism'. Hypocrisy, plain and simple.

  • prince nob talkin shit!

  • corporal slater joined the sas and died in northern ireland (its in andy mcnabs book) - RIP

  • i love how they be nice to them for the first little while lol and then when they sign and fully join they can shout and be dicks and they cant leave lol

  • A good friend of mine joined and is in this documentary Steve Birrell he passed his basic training and did a few tours of Northern Ireland, hope he is still doing ok

  • @moff1959

i have heard of his name before, im joining the army, waiting for training, and i think he took us for a Military Prep Course

  • These fuckers were good at shooting civilians alright..

  • @condaly and what did you do?.

  • @ozoneuser300668 ?????????

  • @condaly

not as good as PIRA right enough, they were the best at it!

  • @phucoff1 difference is mate is that PIRA aren't part of a so called professional army of a soverign country!

  • @condaly

yeah i know that, but they were THE best at killing innocent civilians, by far.

  • @phucoff1 No I think the Brit army holds that record, 40,000 civilians in one night in Dresden too name just one of many, no one can kill civilians like the brits when they are on form!

  • @condaly

christ if you're going back that long, how about who the head of the Irish church loved and who the Irish Republic supported in WW2, the Nazis with 1.6m at Auschwitz, oh and ref your previous message, i'm not your fuckin mate!

  • @phucoff1 Lol . Touched a nerve did we, speaking of the Nazis they learnt everything from you! First ones too use Concentration camps? The English in the Boer war, starved thousands to DEATH! SHITHEAD....

  • @condaly

yawnnn, really, you are a boring cunt, goodbye Nazi lover!

  • @phucoff1 Ta Ra Wanker! Read a few books and you might be able too make a better go of it next time! LIGHTWEIGHT...

  • @condaly Actually the very first ones (the ones the British got the idea from) were invented by the Spanish during the ten years war, and the USA in the Phillipenes War. Thousands did die in the camps, but not from starvation. disease was the most common. 22 000 British soldiers also died from the same causes.

  • @condaly 20 000, and US airforce also involved. Not a solo effort.

  • @Tiwaz81 I'm afraid you've lost me! what are you referring too?

  • Comment removed

  • @Tiwaz81 Fair enough! Regarding US Involvement in Dresden I'm not sure, but the point is it was ordered by a brit" BOMBER HARRIS" it was a deliberate attack on civilians in order too terrorise them, in other words a terrorist attack.

  • @condaly Hardly. Morally ambigious? yes. Double standards? certainly. War Crime.. possibly, but only the loser is tried for war crimes. Terrorism. Not quite. Terrorists are cowards, masked and do not risk open battle. They snipe, murder then run. Blow up civillians when there is no defence ect ect. Dresden was defended, Ordered by a Brit, yes. Condoned and justifified by the USAF, who actually dropped twice the tonnage of bombs that the Brits.

  • @Tiwaz81 Should also mention that Churchill was sceptical and the british press critical of the tactics. The British public.. well those that had been bombed themselves probably didnt careless, war tends to harden you like that. It is very easy for us soft and libral youth, whove grown up free and peaceful to condem those thatlived through things far worse than we have ever known..

  • @Tiwaz81 it was very lightly defended if defended at all, as it was not seen as a target by the Germans. I don't want too get into pedantics but "one mans terrorist" I'm sure you know the rest. As too your assertion about cowardice I don't think you can get more cowardly than dropping bombs on an unsuspecting population from a couple of thousand feet up, at least the IRA gave warnings!

  • @condaly Cowards? How could anyone label South Armagh IRA men cowards when they regularly had the SAS on their tails? You wouldn't find any of those SAS guys calling their enemies cowards. Other names perhaps, but not cowards. It takes seriosu balls to take on the professionals when you're outmanned and outgunned.

  • @Nautilus1972 "Cowards? How could anyone label South Armagh IRA men cowards when they regularly had the SAS on their tails?" Biggest lot of shite I've ever heard, come back to the real world, if you lived in the real World you would know the IRA were bomb planting child murdering scum, responsible for the deaths of 1134 civilians, 794 protestants and 340 catholics, all civilians, whereas the British Army are responsible for a low number of 156.

  • @truefalse I hate the IRA FUCKING CUNTS

  • @Philwelch09 if "we" hadn't spent most of "our" history murdering innocent irish, I'm sure they wouldn't feel the need

  • @Philwelch09 33 thumbs up your hole. GTFO

  • lmfao @ oblivia666 u wouldnt last 10 secs in aldershot , y do u think they moved them , pussies

  • Corporal Slater joined the SAS and was killed by the IRA in 1984. He was in the same troop as Andy McNab of Bravo Two Zero fame.

  • Hard bastards! Can't wait to join the paras =)

  • This is a brilliant TV documentary on the Paras. I have been looking for this for along time, Thank You for sharing it on here.

I remember as a 10 year old kid watching the original documentary when originally broadcast on TV. I'll enjoy watching this...

    Thanks

    Gerry

    Krav Maga Thailand -Pattaya

  • I was one of those young boys in 480 platoon. Watching this made me laugh so thanks for loading it up.

  • Many many thanks Wayne for loading,I remember watching this on tv back in the 80's,it was because of this show I joined up...

  • Comment removed

  • Wayne thanks for loading mate, it reminds me of me days in Depot watching this as i trained and passed onto 3 Para, great show.

    Nice one mate.

Funny to see old Sgt Reilly, good bloke.

  • Wow, these seems so different to the US army where they are screaming at you as soon as you get in the door lol :) Respect to the British army

  • @MILLMANTV1

    weeeeeey...what a tosser.. hahaa

  • For those of you trying out, just remember, it's a short walk in comparison to many other things.

    Good luck

  • I have just finished selection for the paras. did my mile and a half run at 8:52 minutes. I was kind of pissed off because some other lads joining the other regiments were complaining about 12 minutes and fourteen minutes. start cadre on december. have to wait that long. now thats annoying. I'll spend the months leading up to it by exercising.

bet you get a lot of irish cunts coming here saying shit lol

  • @glasweiganmark Yeah long old wait, i done my potenial royal marine course on 22nd of june and i have to wait till the oct to start basic.

  • @DJB2786

well good luck with the fucking 32 weeks of hell. my dad was a bootneck. he did 36 weeks though, he must have been back squadded during training.

fucking 32 weeks seems like hell to me anyway. thats why the royal marines are the toughest marines in the world

  • @glasweiganmark Lol thanks, good luck to you aswell mate, how long is the paras basic?, i think the marines basic was 36 weeks long, i think it was also longer then that in the past.

  • @glasweiganmark

good luck with your training, i hope that i can be in the same position as you in the near future ;)

and yeah, its hard to believe that chefs and dentists cant even make 12-14 minutes. most people can walk that lol

  • I find it strange that you can just join the paras without any previous military experience. In order to join jtf2, we have to have 2 years of service prior to applying.

Another interesting thing that I cant seem to wrap my head around is how fit are they?Im in good shape, both mentally and physically, but I just dont fully understand what theyre like.

  • @yourass117 it's possible things have changed. i'm an american so i have no idea what the british military regulations are, but this IS almost 30 years old!

  • @yourass117 yea paras are just infantry m8 its just like signing up for the rangers. there just better trained than regular soldiers like jtf2 dont no wat they do but im guessing there special forces in order to get into the british special forces u have to spend over 3 years in the forces

  • @liamsutcliffe1 So the royal marines are the british naval special forces, the paras are the army special forces, and SAS are the air force ultimate bad-ass special forces?

  • @yourass117 no the royal marines are just regular infantry aswell only trained in amphibious assaults and the paras are airborne assault and then the best members of the paras and the marines can do selection for the sas

  • @liamsutcliffe1 Oh okay, thanks

  • @liamsutcliffe1 and also the best members from every other regiment in the army can go 4 selection.

  • @Knuck1ez oh yea that aswell its mainly made up of them 2 units anyways

  • @yourass117

' SAS are the air force ultimate bad-ass special forces'??? i take it you've never served?

  • @phucoff1 Yes I am currently serving, and I understand that they are, as Ive said, "the ultimate bad-asses", i just didnt fully understand what theyre like in comparison to the paras, and royal marines.

  • @yourass117

no you said, 'SAS are the air force', SAS are nothing to do wi the Air Force, they are classed as Army however there selection is tri-service.

  • @yourass117 paras are the army elite infantry regiment, RM commando is the navys elite infantry, they are shock troops designed in WWII to cause mass devastation to air field, factorys and docks behind enemy lines, the SAS is the armys 'special forces', mainly a recce regiment they wernt really designed to go to war, they slip under radars undetected do their business then fuck off out there, highly highly trained

  • wonder if prince charles went through training lol

  • @daftrider666

    he did

  • Who's their Colonel-in-chief? Is that Prince Charles?

  • Fantastic series etc. My dad served 18 years in the Paras, very proud of him.

  • eehhhh i'd say the marines are beter buuuut i'm american so that a biased opinion i know hahaha

  • brit scum

  • @theboss2432 you mad?

  • At the end of the day it was your decision to join the branch of the armed forces you did. correct me if I am wrong but if you are 37 when you signed with YT in 07 then you would only have been 12 yrs old when the task force went down south in 82. Many wars are a waste, however you were not conscripted into wearing an armed forces uniform you joined on a volunteer basis & agreed to serve your country. You obviously have issues. Its simple, one joins one goes where one is sent END OF.

  • The trouble is when soilders leave the army they are put on the scrap heap

    and soon forgotton

im not sure of the figs but i think most down and outs in london are ex forces I dont think HRH prince charles gives them a second thought ???

  • @nylonTS If your not sure of the facts SHUT THE FUCK UP !!!!!!

  • @woodenz The facts are my freind lots of soilders live on our London Streets I work for a forces Charity I see it every day

and that is a Fact ??

I dont mind your commenst but do you really need to swear at me you show your yourself up

  • please make an up-to-date version of this like commandos on the front line...please! :P

  • like the last guy just said. the only fucking idiots talking about whos better are either sprogs who have done fuck all, or attached ranks, i.e not actually in the paras or marines. (7 para horse artiilery or commando artillery etc) done p company or commando course and now reckon their fucking awesome. the real marines and paras respect each other, and dont tend to go gobbing off on youtube.

  • Thanks for uploading this. This series was one of the programmes that launched Channel 12 on Singapore TV back in 1984. Another was Pippin. I enjoyed both.

  • corporal Slater is in Andy Mcnabs book and dies in Ireland!

  • The Paras as a documentary was 10 times better than all the other military 'fly on the wall' documentaries. Probably because it was made by Frank Hilton, with affection and humour, having served with the Regiment himself, and his bringing his insider knowledge to the production, especially the humour!

Whereas "Commando" took itself very seriously!!!!! 2

  • @Whatever81417 yeah and paras was alot longer than commando, and gave a more in depth look at the training, but i still prefer commando though because marines are better!! xD

  • @crouchtrac paras are better than marines anyone can get fit but not anyone can be mentally solid

  • @Miles12345671 yeah the marines are mentally solid aswell you twat! they are more mentally stronger because thier training is longer
