good lord people...just imagine being in that room. when will you be good enough to be there? are you good enough to command an audiance like that? Simply enjoy!
Different (as expected from different people) that the amazingly beautiful interpretation of Jacqueline Dupre, but not less passionate...Great amazing sound...
@Xenialaus While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I have to say that I think your comment is very rude, uneducated and immature. What is "horrible"? Give us solid reasoning! And besides her movements, what seems so rehearsed? I really wonder if youre a musician. Youre definitely not playing with Berlin Phil, but feel the need to say she "CANT PLAY". And attacking a bow arm? Really? Educated people know that there is no "one and only bow arm" Grow up...
@Xenialaus Hey Asswipe....watch your fucking words. Notice how SHE is the one playing under Barenboim and NOT YOU. Notice how SHE is playing with the Berlin Phil and NOT YOU. And notice how YOU will NEVER have this kind of success because your ego is too fucking big. I really want to see all you assclowns do any better than her. Stop hating and enjoy the music. Get your head out of your ass...seriously. You ingrates make me sick.
I think you should keep thoughts of Barenboim's personal life out of this because it doesn't do justice to the piece. Barenboim's attitude is exemplary because he's giving other great cellists the chance to tackle this masterpiece.
The 'wrong note' you might have heard at 0'32" is a result of the shift to the next note and she either accidently didn't put the right finger onto the string in time or it's her interpretation to emphasise the climax and shape of the piece.
Hi i like your channel and your videos I just want a little favour from you guys. Regarding the note at 00:32, if I recall correctly from about 7 years ago when I attempted this song myself, there is a grace note there. And so I guess she just emphasized it. Then again, what I'm thinking of might have been elsewhere in the song, I forget :P. But I do recall seeing something in the music that De Pre didn't so much emphasize, and I was therefore surprised to see. But again, I could be totally wrong :).
@xbriannaxbananax At 00:32 what you hear is not a written note, but just a guide note to find the position for the next note. It doesn't stand out too much to my ears, doesn't bother me in the least! She plays so beautifully! What spectacular control, intensity, musicianship! Thank god there are still performers such as this willing to dedicate their lives in such a way. Brava!
@kianskiputz92 Hmm.... I think she definitely meant for that note to happen. Look at her finger. Honestly, I don't really mind it, at least if she varying the line she did so in a small and somewhat appropriate way.
Elgar's Cello Concerto have been played by many famous cellists, and in my opinion she can be compared to Jacqueline Dupre. I am always moved by this movement!
Alisa Weilerstein is a such a beautiful musician. So expressive - gushing with intensity, yet incredibly sensitive. Had the pleasure of meeting her on a number of occasions. Lovely girl with a wonderful sense of humour!

Rather unusual to hear the Berlin Phil performing Elgar. Karajan didnt perform Elgar claiming that he thought it was 2nd rate Brahms.
