I remember seeing this band as tight then as savage grace at coral gables in east lansing, they sure knew how to rock! This was in the early 80's. The good ole day's.
@NightwalkerAOR - no we did not. Our album was produced by infamous Michael Wagener (Dokken, Great White, Accept, Ozzy, Alice Cooper, Metallica, Skid Row, etc) but unfortunately we never got signed to a deal......close but no cigar. Badly managed and it took it's toll, this band went as far as it could, top of the bottom and bottom of the top. Some say it was Scientology that killed it and I'm inclined to agree.
I was the lightman for the original version of Tight. Larry, Tonya, Jim, Donny Fudge was the drummer then. Those were some rocking days. Every bar on every street corner had a band playing. And there were a lot of good ones.
It was both, I remember it well. One time we played there was a simulcast on WLLZ. Place was packed. I still have the recording from that night. Guess I'm old, too, but shhh, don't tell me, I got a young wife and 2 young children that are keeping me young!! Those were the days, Detroit was rockin', economy was rockin', I was rockin', my hair was definitely rockin', heh heh, and Aqua Net Hurricane Hold stock was going through the roof. Harpo's, Ritz, Main Act, Studio Lounge, Token and more ROCKED
Correction, the original Savage Grace was a rock band from Detroit in the 70's. They are the true owners of the name. We were called "Tight" and changed the name to SG, much to my disliking. The Speed Metal band from Cali weren't entitled to the name no more than we were, but for whatever reason, there was no copyright on the name when we used it. Still didn't make it right and "Tight" was a good name for us. Should have kept it, was my vote. I lost.
WABX became WLLZ. It was the same station, same crew, everything, they just switched dials and call letters while they were at it. I remember WABX's tv promo with the cartoon dog flying over the Detroit skyline, or at least that's how I remember it.

Haven't heard of this show in years. WLLZ was a great station, too bad it folded. It was much better than WRIF.
