  • This vid is popular on Santiago

  • earlier EJ/BT songs still have that great combo of music and lyrics....few have or will come close to saying what these songs impart! From the end of the world to your town!!

  • First album I ever bought. 35 years later I still remember every word. Pure Genius.

  • Sweeeeeeet chocolate biscuits.

  • Fell in love with Elton's music after lisening to this album (331/3). over and over, aftern it was released.

It has been a favorite of mine ever since.

  • most knights were not honored for their valliancy as for their prose

  • I think I know this album better than anyone else on this here planet....you know....lip-sync wise and all.....

  • I remember this album and listened to it until it didn't play anymore. A lot of great tracks on this track!!

  • Asian sugar babies # lushfmlk.info#

  • I remember how shocked I was when-shut the the fuck up

  • So many memories

    Brilliant

  • I remember how shocked that the much-anticipated LP from the Keyboard Chameleon opened with a GUITAR riff....an acoustic guitar riff, at that....

  • I wish today's youth could appreciate this pinnacle of popular music. Truly one of the best albums EVER!!!!

I feel like Elton is a part of my family. I have been listening to him since I can remember. A week hardly goes by without me mellowing to something he wrote.

    Thanks Reg!!!!!!

  • I know every word to every song on this album. Yes, I said album, not CD. I ordered this on CD, but do have the record.

  • Happy Birthday Bernie Taupin (May 22)

  • I liked his music more so when he was on drugs.... giggle.. I loved this cd, my favorite ever!!

  • @Rosmertra This was actually his last album before the drugs.

  • I remember begging my mom to buy this record when it came out........she did and promptly a day later purchased the 8 track for her Cadillac.....and that summer we saw Elton live at Spartan Stadium SJ CA......I was 10.........long live the Captain and the Kid!

  • definently greatest album of all time

  • This is a great song.

  • Best. Song. EVER.

  • Dee Murray was the best bass plaers ever....so tasteful

  • sounds great after all these years

  • Elton had some of the best albums ever. Among the classics were"Yellow Brick Road," "Caribou," "Madmen" and this one. I followed his albums as a young teen and this album inspired me to write poetry/songs and really opened my mind to new sounds. This album contained a comic storybook and another lyric/photo booklet (which I had) and I loved Eltons music and direction during this time period. Bernie Taupin and Elton made some of the best rock songs ever!!!!!!

  • brings all my past back to me i love this album i an lucky enough to own a 33 lp picture album the graffics on it are amazing on both sides fantastic tracks elton at his best love it

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • it is, without a doubt, one of the best albums of the 70s...complex, moving and tuneful...a bridge over rock, pop, america and england, fame and obscurity, obscene wealth and degrading poverty and failure...east end lights and new york heights...'captain fantastic' deserves its place with 'stationtostation', 'ziggy stardust', 'london's calling', 'rumours' and even 'led zep IV' as one of the best british albums of the 70s....

  • One of the greatest albums of all time.

  • this album helped me thru a bum teenagedom....

  • True story

  • Me too

  • still got the vinyl ---- used to pass out with the koss headphones on my head and the needle still down on this album ........

  • Yes this was a great album back in the day. I had it for a longtime. The 70s were the greatest for Elton John. I love his songs. Becky :)

  • this song reminds me soooo much of childhood (born 82), he's my HERO!

  • No shit!

  • oh yeahhhhhhhhh,,,,Sir Elton,,,,,yOU are Somethin else...:)

  • 1000 ♥´s 4 Elton !!

  • I remember borrowing this from the library when I was in grade school. It was when there were still R-E-C-O-R-D P-L-A-Y-E-R-S or T-U-R-N-T-A-B-L-E-S. lol ;))

  • Still got the comic?

  • I dont know if its still in there or not. I'll have to look, but I wont because they are going to stay where they are unless me and my old man decide to listen to them again someday. I'd like that.

  • Got a desperate desire to live?

  • Oh man i just got Honky Chateau and this album both at 50 cents a piece.sounds amazing on the record player.

  • this was the first albim i bought in my life. i love this song best in this album. it brings me back when i was a lonly boy listening to music all day...

  • Thats weird because this was the last album i bought in my life

  • the best songwriting team?

    thats Jagger/Richards....then...

    lennon/mccartney...john/taupin ..following close though

  • wrong. It's a tie between john/taupin and fagen/becker. Lennon/mccartney are third and Jagger/Richards don't appear in the top 200

  • Sorry dmonserud... There's no tie. It's john/taupin for sure

  • I have this LP in mint condition. Love it! My vote goes for John/Turpin.

  • Still got the comic?

  • the song is about the city slick captain fantastic....elton john and the brown dirt cowboy who is bernie taupin....their coming together and producing a great song writing team......elton from london and bernie from rural lincolnshire

  • i was 12, my parents moved me from Miami, Fl. to a small rural town in VA. it didn't even have radio reception. when the little store got in new albums - i pleaded with my mom, she got this for me. it was my only music for 6 months till we returned to the city. I got very intimate with every chord of every song on this album. i don't care what it's REALLY about, that's what it's about to me. ( :

  • It wasn't until I was out of high school until I realized what "Brown Dirt Cowboy" really meant. My mom always told me when I was in school "That man's a sissy (homo)" but I didn't believe her until later. I don't care. He's a genius.

  • How does Bernie Taupin create such amazing things?

  • yes, Bernie deserves a lot of credit too. in fact, just as much as Elton. he writes the songs, Elton writes the music. together they are amazing!!

  • Possibly the best songwritting team ever.

  • No, that's Lennon and McCartney... but John and Taupin are pretty close

  • i loved this album....wore it out...great music

  • sounds like the buffalo soilders to me probaly isnt but dirt cowboys captain fantastic sounds like it

  • Wow what a fantastic song, thanks for the memory, still a clasic after all of these years.

  • Pretty hard to find what might have offended someone in this simple comment...I suspect I will survive!

  • if you are a boy, loved a boy, parented a boy or ever have to deal with a boy...this song tells the story of what goes on inside...nothing better from here.

  • so why are they down rating you?...what is the song about, have always loved it,but guess I never really knew..I assume, you do or think you do,and they think you dont(?)...

  • It's about EJ and BT and their development as a songwriting team.

  • this is such a great song

  • inspired me to become an elton john impersonator later in life! now have a great job tributing meatloaf!

  • Wow, I wonder how many 8 tracks I used up on this ablum. Thanks for posting and bringing back the good old days.

  • good stuff

  • La canzone della mia adolescenza!!!! Molto U.S.A. e poco british . Atmosfere west and country molto originali............
