I've been a Dad now for 13 years. I started shutting off lights that other people leave on a long time ago. All Dad's have this affliction. Do you have kid's Mark? Kids that can reach the light switch? I do and I shut them dang thangs off ALL THE TIME! I am a pioneer in the 'Shut it off' field for a long time now.

lol I'm at the point in life that they are grown and gone. If lights get left on it's because I did it. Oh I could blame the cat or the dogs. But don't think that would go over well with the wife. But the lights are not kills my bill, it's the A/C and Heat.

we here have noticed, that the more we turn off anything we are not useing, the high the rate goes up. The power companies will go into a loss as we all try to help the environment. but I'm the one that says if I'm going to pay for it, I'm going to use it. Our bill has gone down sice I leave a light or two on all the time. I know it shouldn't. But if the power companies are not regulated they will do it.

We're all watching our power use here in TN not only for those reasons, but the greedy TVA(Tennessee Valley Authority) raised our rates by 20%!!!!!! Funny thing, week afterwards of the hike the CEO voted himself in a 2 million dollar raise!! That's one way to force us to change are wasteful ways. Sorry to be a downer. Great messege Mark but Ive beaten you to it my man! lol When I set up my bargin lights for the green screen i put floresent in them instead of plain bulbs. Its just as much light but saves muny and the light is actualy softer and so less glare.Mine are made by MISEENGAURD. There realy good!

I save an avg of about 90 to 100 bux on my bill by keeping lights off when not in use. That means unplugging things too that are not being used!

O and I only burn my tree lights on christmas eve n christmasday and new years eve. But ...it just so happens...I didnt even put up a tree this year.

And we are going thru a ice n snow storm right now and have lost power over n over. Its realy made me think about how this world would be without the power we all take for granted and waste.

What Mark neglected to say is when switching to CFL's, make sure to use the ones that don't use Mercury, and be careful with the one's that do. Do not throw them in the garbage, most Home Depot will take them from you and dispose of them properly. Also soon you will be able to use LED light bulbs, these will be more expensive, but last something like 50k hours, and them make no noise. There are some nice LED set up for under the counter. Yes I have done my home work on this subject.
