Ever tried focus X 3 and an 8-hit super combo? I don't know why super combo is so unpopular with a lot of breath of fire iii players but to not use it is sin.
She's got status effecting spells which are life savers in the beginning but yah kinda suck towards the middle since they never really land on bosses. IMO she's just great! The last boss fight I've done (With the lame Fish things on the Black Ship) she was doing like a combined 600+ damage per turn...No one came close!
spells that inflict status effects on enemies arent really worth using in this game...its better just to go all out on offense and defense spells and spells that increase your attack power...and yeah nina is good on the black ship boss since they are weak to lightning i think? the fish...i dont know i would think they are since they are water based or either that or fire but fire spells are weak and simoon becomes really weak by that point in the game.
uh nina sucks, momo is a better caster with her enhancing spells and she can heal...actually i think nina sucks in all the breath of fire games except for maybe 4 because she can actually cure your characters...plus shes so slow, momo on the other hand is very fast and if you want to get technical peco is better as well if you train him with the right masters.

Besides, peeps who complain about her hp/defense/melee simply are mentoring her too fast. I didn't mentor her till 16 and for me she's got some pretty nice defense and tolerable HP (112). But on the other hand if she had decent hp/defense/offense she'd be way overpowered.
who did you mentor her first with? i use mygas or i think thats his name...the wizard/sage guy at the beginning area...and i'm not really a nina hater, i just dont like using her as much as the other characters but i did use her a lot during the beginning during ryu's childhood...well you kind of had to anyway...but i know she can get really good but the same can be said for other characters if you have the right skills, masters, and equip. i think they all can be equal if you really wanted to.
I mentored her at lvl 16 with yah Mygas. But you can mentor with Mygas pretty early on in the game which is a mistake. Actually if I were to start a game again I might even mentor her with Bunyan from lvl 10ish to 16ish then Mygas then Emetai then Deis then Emetai again. But yah all with equal balance.
Nina was AWESOME in BoF2. She was pretty useless in BoF3 however, since by the time you get the Force gene, Ryu really does all the damage and then you have 2 support characters for healing/stat boosts.
@MrFlexbuffchest Yah in general. In this BoF you can rig her though to be just deadly (fish head + magic form) but you remove any challenge in the game however Force gene does that as well :P
Mikba is a tough boss considering his high reprisal rate, Rei auto Were-tigers but sometimes manages to get off a normal attack or vitamin before transforming the very same turn. Considering the high reprisal it might be a good idea to use lot's of magic attacks.
There are a great many skills out there that you learn from masters and enemies. "Influence" if you use Rei through the game, is one of the most life-saving skills that you can learn from Goblin-boss. All you have to do is watch the enemy and that character will learn the ability.
There is a box on your abilities cross, (attack, magic and so on) and the eye is the examine one. Watch the monster and when they do that special skill, you can learn it and you'll see a big "!" over their head. (I can't tell you all them because there are so many but influence is the more popular one with Goblin boss) It might not happen the first time, but keep trying and see what happens. With masters, for so many levels you upgrade with that specific master, you will learn an ability.
anyone ever wonders why mikba doesn't attack when u use magic??? It's because he can give a reprisal if u attack him physically.....So the next time u fight him, use brains not brawn!!!! (in this case, magic)
magic attack doesn't hit him hard because all the elemental magic are 1/2 against mikuba. best choice is have ryu raise everybody's defense for 5 turns. other character heal rei and let weretiger do the job.
yeah, mine's broke too. i loved that game, but my finishing time was 74 hours cuz it took me a few years. i was only 7 when i got it. mikba gave me so many problems with his stupid reprisals....and Rei was pretty useless. He turned out to be one of my best characters at the end.

No wonder it took that long. Your Ryu was on his way to 24. My Ryu was 24 as a kid and when I was in the mines I got him to 27. I blew Mikba away with shadowwalk hitting massive amounts.

Wow, I remember this guy. I was pretty young when I first played BoF3 so everything seemed harder than it actually was. This fight was always difficult though.
Made a few mistakes in your playing, but you pulled through in the end.
I just recently downloaded the game (I own the game and a PSX, but neither work) and am playing through it again. I hadn't decided to do so until I watched your vidoes, so for that I thank you.
That multistrike against Rei was the make or break or the battle and you got damn lucky there lol. If he hadn't missed you twice, things might have turned out different because you didn't have any Ammonias left or enough AP for reviving =O
In sin City all your dreams can come true... well sorta, Ryu talks to a prostitute and hands over some zenny LOL. But yeah, Sin City = Ended from a beast that ran through attacking chaotically.

If you raise dead Rei he auto becomes the weretiger and starts attacking anything that moves :P
He can do a shitload of damage on Mikba though and Nina is horridly underrated.

Mikba is a real major pain in the ***. I had healed Rei and before a turn or two can pass, Mikba attacks poor Rei and then reprisals too.
WOW, using a vitamin and tranforming into weretiger in the same turn. Good thing that your in defense position as that is one good way to survive.
YES! Hybrid Rei Tiger form! Shadowwalk is great.
