  • great memories of a wonderful time spent in Australia

  • I'm quite surprised this guy isn't more popular here in the states.

I'm a big fan of The Church by the way. Just like anywhere else, Australia has produced it's share of class acts. Unfortunately, like the Church, so many bands had nary more than a single hit outside of Australia.

  • long and missed slim MATE ! but your songs will follow you and your friends and mates around the country your still with us thanks

  • @kateandannarose The words are by Banjo Paterson, the music by Wallis and Matilda. Which part of this could Slim have copyrighted, his voice?

  • This is what we should be teaching our kids in our AUSTRALIAN school. not bloody american CRAP

  • @kateandannarose ...hear hear

  • @kateandannarose ..every slim dusty song is copyrighted so enjoy before they get wiped out cheers dave

  • @mrblindfreddy9999 This couldn't be copyrighted - it is the Banjo's, word for word

  • @aarontsmall1975 believe me every single one is copyrighted

  • @mrblindfreddy9999 Then the copyright should be tested, he did not write the words and his corporate heavies have no case in this instance (and in several others). Bloody hell, someone lost out on copyright over using "part" of a nursery rhyme, using all of the words of a published (and well published) poem? Just because someone has tried to ensure legal protection, doesn't mean it'll work. Legal opinions are like arseholes, every one has one.

  • @kateandannarose its good but its hardly the pinnacle of all western poetry. There have been qute a few amazing american poets.

  • @kateandannarose There's actually a large portion of America who can really relate to this song. We aren't all a bunch of thugs and superficial city dwellers.

  • @kateandannarose

Our year 6 teacher tied songs like this in with our Australian history module. Man that was a fun time....

  • luv ya slim...Australia is NOT Oz without you..in years to come you will be on banjo and the painters level..maybe higher..and we all loved the painter

  • Wonderful.. It is so hard to think that old slim is gone. RIP old mate.

  • Onya Slim RIP Mate.
