@The096757 Wikipedia shows that he's still around. Did you mean that only Motown is heard now or back then? In the '50s and '60s, AM radio played quite a variety of music, including Motown. The radio business is notorious for only playing a very limited list of songs. It's interesting that the woman who's backing Brenton up in this live performance is off-camera and is never seen. She does indeed have a good voice.
used to sing this to myself whilst playing right back for Lauriston rd primary school football team on Hackney Marshes. Teacher took 7of us in his mini clubman- great days.
Thank God for the internet that we are able to watch wonderful artists such as Brenton and listen to beautiful music and remember DJ's such as Jimmie Saville from back in the day on "Top of the Pops". Thanks for posting!
@Gazolba Um? what? afropunk.com, boldaslove.us, Black Rock Coalition, Janelle Monae, Tamar Kali, Skunk Anansie, etc. "Black singers" have been performing more than just rap for decades and continue to collaborate across all genres. Your comment just blue my mind. Do you know how to Google?
@55Medusa: Just curious, but why did it take hold in the community, given that Brenton Wood is quite African American? (Not that it's a bad thing; far from it, it's a great tune, just curious).
@NickB1967 some music is felt stongly in the Chicano community.....personally i love Old School music!!!! i feel that music cross's many barriors of color..... :-)
What a great comment. Almost in awe of such comments really.. I love this song and this performance...and yep,the 60's had way too many great artists and songs.. Ridiculous when you compare it with say the latest decade ...Anyway your comment is the most potent and loaded I've seen on YT.. nothing I can write here can express that.
@Greenhornet270 my ex-boyfriend did time over there and he always had to turn the dial on the radio when Hendrix's version of "All Along the Watchtower" came on..he said that chopper pilots would play that when they flew over the deltas..
@Greenhornet270 I love the Vietnam Vets. You guys got a bad rap and it was undeserved. Should never have been there in the first place, but it wasn't the soldiers fault. I lost some friends in that war. The music was good, but the war was terrible. I have very mixed feelings about that era. Were you injured?
@Greenhornet270 Desde España, un saludo a un hombre de verdad. Que tengas muchos años de felicidad y enseña a la gente joven el significado del valor y la lealtad entre compañeros de armas.
@pbrick6301 The white English guy is Jimmy Saville (not sure about the spelling), He was the Host of Top of the Pops a British show. Breton still does small concerts last I heard in California.
Why do the videos on songs always have to be retarded? X_X I mean.. it's like when you buy a CD in the shops they're always like 'includes extra special (band/singer name) video!! 8D cheaper! Wot a deal! And you're like oh god well I'll buy the more expensive one then >_> lmao
damm that song is awesome!, I hear Brenton can still be seen in Northern Cali....would have loved to have been there in 68....just a fews yrs older and i would have....
Love this song. I love his movements and he is one handsome man. I don't remember when it was made, I just happened to hit play and loved it. I play it every chance I get. Thank you Mr. Wood.
For all the oldies lovers here is the same song sung in Spanish by Roberto Jordan - Hazme Una Señal (Gimme Little Sign). Check it out great cover that sold millions in Latin America and Europe
Everyone danced that way in he sixties. You must be very young and I'm sorry that you weren't properly taught that racism is wrong, the word "nigger" is very hurtful and hate filled. I hope that you change your heart and learn that diversity is what makes America such an amazing place in which I assume you have the privilege to have been born.
