hi, im thirteen and i have my first appointment with an orthodontist on wednesday, and i'm so scared! i have an over-crowded mouth, four wisdom teeth, an overbite, and a crossbite, and i think i might have slow moving teeth because when i was little and lost my teeth it would take them FOREVER to come in! i'm scared as hell!

what if you have medicade and medicade approves you to get braces do they still ask you what color you want?????????

@alex41078 yes...all the colors are is rubberbands...and if your orthodontist has colored rubberbands...which im pretty sure they do..then you can get colored ones.

Ok i have a dentist appointment for next Thursday 4/14/2011 to determine if i need braces or not and for the othordonist to check out my teeth and stuff butt my question is how long does it take after that day to get em cuz i want them now ?

@tiebaby97 well it depends because you have to find an orthodontist and once you do that u have to schedule an appointment to get ur teeth molded and find out how long ur braces will need to be worn..how bad they are and they might even put spacers in your teeth...then you schedule another appointment to get your braces on...so really it all depends on your orthodontist..

@ilike2playdrums111 theres a chance, but if it does happen, it can take hours to fix, so i don't know if that's good or bad, but its not painfull, unless you pull apart

they stick this metal thing in your mouth taht they tighten and it brings your jaw closer forward. my old ortho talked about breaking my jaw as a last resort and readjusting it but i'm just getting braces with rubber bands.

the yellow tint on the clear bands don't make your teeth look dirty do they? :/

i wanted to get clear but i heard that they get yellow and gross looking on your teeth so i just got clear blueish instead.

no not really u cant really see the yellow tint the thing with braces u hav to really clean ur teeth very well and it should nt show tht much..

i'm getting my braces next week, for an over bite and teeth not being in the right place. so does that mean that i'm going to get those coloured rubber bands like you said?, or am i going to get just plain wire? i'm not quite sure on exactly where they are placed and when they are going to be changed? monthly?

there is no way to keep them clear they will stain but will never stain too much..they stain but are not at all noteacable..

did u like that color? im always choosing pink and im getting tired of it,i would choose clear but im scared that they turn yellow!

no ive never tried silver or grey ive gotton clear for the longest time and the clear do tend to turn yellow but really arent noticeable.

it usually depends on your orthodontist how long it takes to put them on but sometimes 30 mins up to an hour..but it depends

yea i had to have power chains..power chains are what help tighten your teeth together..i dont have a power chain on the top becuase he wanted to spread them out..i only have them on the bottom..

they hurt just like ne time u get ur braces tighten they will be soar for about a day but other then that they are fine just take tylenol or ne other pain releiver
