@ultimatebadazzz The B8 Chassis on the Current A5/A4 is exclusive to Audi, not VW. Its a 'VW group' MLB platform. The VW passats of old share the old A4 chassis, but not anymore. Also, Audi designed the Chassis for all A4's since circa 2000. VW use the 'hand me down' chassis for the passat once Audi have finished with it. RS5 has a Lamborghini Spirited Engine and an interior that has a quality resembling Bentley. Thats another way of looking at it.

part of me thinks that the m3 is such an iconic car that in this class it is labeled as perfect... and then the rs5 has a slightly different take on it, that it is automatically labeled inferior just because it is different.

i've never driven any m3, but i have driven both an s4 and 335i, and i actually preferred the s4 as i felt much more confident i wasn't going to wrap it around a tree in icy conditions. i also felt the interior of the s4 was a notch above bmw.

@Congaman41 I agree. When you look at the front of the RS5, you just think of the word "aggression". It looks like it's going to eat you. And i just love the new Audi grills. They look so massive!!!! I once saw a drag race between a M3 vs RS5. RS5 won. And Quattro is great! If you come to a curve somewhere with a M3 and step on the gas it can drift easy. and what if you can't control the car? With the RS5 you can put the pedal to the metal without any problems. Audi is a safer car!

I have been a long time BMW fan but, honestly I would choose the Audi S5, it's freaking gorgeous.

Audi definitely beats the BMW on the exterior & interior design, as for performance leave it to the M3. However, the RS5 is still a fast car, don't judge it lamely.

i have a RS5 and my mate has a M3... were both enthusiastic drivers... his car has been written off after 5 months(insurance is paying)... quattro enough said... M3 is a amazing car but most people who drive them arnt F1 drivers so really it doesnt make a difference witch you choose they both amazing cars the RS5 is just safer and more practical... it has a better interior and looks amazing... so if you want to get from point a to b in style either one will do!!

I have S5 -- and used have an M3. The M3 is a better performance car --but I rarely found myself in a position to tap into it. I prefer the S5 (and looking to the RS5) for a nice balance of performance and style.

i prefer audi's interior to the bmw's...it seems that u really need to mover up toward the flagship bmw models (even mercedes) to enjoy that oppulent feel of the cabin...as opposed to audi which gets it right in every car in every segment...the audi is the car i'd rather be seen in, while the bmw with considerably more pizazz is the car i really wanna drive everyday! tough choice...still, my nod goes to the m3.

@paikmendez Yeah, it does depend on the model. For example, i really only feel like I'm in a Mercedes if it's an S-class. A part of 3-series cars is that spartan feel of the interior. Audi is just superior in this respect.

nearly all audis used to have 60% weight burdening the front axle but audi has worked to distribute the weight toward the rear. i drove an old s4 v8 and a newer rs4 and i thought i could tell the difference...not to mention the power addition was intoxicating...and i thought that the v8 s4 was fast...i can imagine this rs5 really hauling ass..that said, surprise, surprise...i'd take the m3 anyday!!

I'd say the Audi is more an everyday driving and cruising machine. It looks better, the interior has that extra touch of luxury, more comfortable and the AWD makes it way more easier to drive.

The M3 is the best of the two on the track. But come on, who, of all us normal people, live on a race track, or somewhere with a lot of tight corners and no speed limits.

The point that many people (including journalists) miss is that Audi is not trying to copy or match BMW but rather create their own type and image and they are really successful in that aspect. I would pick the RS5 because to me it looks better, is easier to drive and is just as fast. Audi knows that most of its potential customers will drive in big cities and not on race tracks. That's why they set the car like that. BMW is great, no question, a matter of personal choice at the end.

I myself have an S5 and yes, the m3 would rip the rs5, mainly due to bmw's superior handling. Since the RS5 is a luxury car, it obviously ways more, but that's compensated with more power in areas that the M3 cannot beat. The RS5 is also all wheel drive. Due to that, the RS5 has a much better suspension and handling than the M3.

The cars are close, but in a race, I believe the RS5 has a slight upper hand.
