I was adopted when I was 3, after years of wondering, I finally got the call I had waited so long for,it was my big brother. I had not spoken to him in 25 years! July of last year he moved from Boston to Oklahoma to be close. That day was one of the best days ever! I was able to hug my big brother after being apart for 31 years. The first time I heard this song was the night of that first phone call. Talk about timing! I still cry when I hear this song! Still as relevant today as it was then!
Its amazing how this stuff was looked over back in the 90s because it wasn't as good as Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, etc. but it towers over today's modern rock.
@reverb478 they were not looked over so much, they had air play all summer and more when this was released, they just didnt come up with anything else that got honorable mention, but everyone remembers this song..
Before the Nixons went on hiatus, they toured to promote their last album. Some of the members didn't go on the tour so a musician who is local to me went along as their guitarist/back vocals. The rest of the members mostly do production work these days.
The local musician recently had a major medical event, but he's still playing.
he really did a good job writing that song and singing it,its really a good song and you can see that pain and agony he is in over her death - The Nixons)- you guys were truly one the great underrated bands of the 90s
great regional 90s rock seen these guys a few times in okc 95ish i wish i had a time machine sadly this band did not become a "commercial super star" not on the mainstream "list" still having a lot of great songs
My brother is 13 years older than me and i have not seen him in almost 12 years. I began sending him letters not long ago, and today i traveled 3 hours to the correctional facility he resides at near texarkana. I burned this song before i left and had it on repeat for most of the trip......i will never forget our emotional hug after so many years,...and this song is for him. I love you Steve, i will always be here for you bubba......... love your baby sister...
My brother and I used to fight non-stop, and I despised him... Now, we've grown up and grown away from each other, but we've never been closer. We love hearing this song, and it almost always brings tears to my eyes.
my childhood friend was murdered, just the other day,i dedicate this song to her.....r.i.p..........kim white.......... may the angels lead you into paradise...................
What happened to all the awesome long hair rockers/ Raiders fans who used to rock the house down? Now we have friggin Beiber fever. God save us, every single one of us.
I remember when my mom took me to see them back in 94. I was in fourth grade. It was my very first concert. My sis ( who was in 6th grade) got beer spilled on her. The lead singer lost his shoe while he was doing a jump into a smash grunge style. But he finished the song while he tied his shoe and was wearing bright red (p)leather pants. It was my most memorable and fave concert I have ever been to. I freakin' love this song and the Nixons!
Sister é uma canção que me desperta um saudosismo imenso! Bons tempos aqueles, e como tudo passa em um piscar de olhos. Ontem jovens, hoje homens. É a vida.

Everyone is acting like Zac Maloy dropped off the face of the earth or something. He is actually doing well for himself. He relocated to Nashville after the ending of his solo project and has been writing songs for Carrie Underwood and a lot of other famous musicians. Maybe he just wanted something more behind-the-scenes than fronting a band. There's no shame in that.
im holding hope that the rockers of the future will bring back grunge. i mean old school fashion is making a come back, so why doesnt grunge make a come back? modern rock is junk and awful 2 listen to.
@rebelformetal I totally agree! The only new music that I really like is from veteran groups like Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, The Gin Blossoms, Soul Asylum, & The Cure. The rest of the suck-ass new groups can eat shit & fall off the face of the earth for all I give a damn! I still wear flannels, listen to '90s alternative & grunge rock, & get stoned in the woods. Long live grunge! I hope it makes a comeback!
@MrBrombomb And the video ain't bad either, done by the guy who does Metalocalypse. Couldn't be more appropriate :) What a good year, new Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, STP, Hole, AND here's the big one, Dave Grohl and Krist Novaselic are working on a lil somethin somethin..
@Revidescent84 Wow! I didn't know that Hole was back together. Awesome! I just hope that Courtney Love can keep it together. I wonder what Dave Grohl & Krist Novaselic are going to come up with. Whatever it is, I'm sure it will rock.
@blakden sorry for your lose, I don't know what I would do If I lost my twin sister, but she is a recovering alcoholic and she where to ever pass I know that she would want me to live for her the way she would live her life. Drinking your sorrows will never help you end that pain.

i also lost my sister at 34 years old with two boys i now raise. one week before christmas in 2007 we all miss her so much. we will see her oneday we love her dearly
This song is dedicated to my sister Lynnie she committed suicide back in 2000. This song has been hers since that day she was the greatest and always will be. Had Lynnie lived she would have changed the world --a soul lost too young.
I hadn't heard this song in awhile. I heard it in the background in the movie the chamber earlier tonight. I remember this song use to hit home with me because I lost my sibling 17 years ago when I was 12, it was my bro but still got to me even though the song was titled sister. You don't hear many songs anymore with strong messages like you did in the 90's, but this is one that always makes you stop and think.
This song saw me thru the death of a best friend of mine.....God, I miss her....If there is an afterlife she will be the first person I want to see so I can tell her all that is in my heart
I use to listen to this band at High School parties in Stillwater, Ok. he origional version is much better than this but it still a good song. What happened to the band The Wake?
Wow. This brings back some memories. It has probably been about 12 years since I last heard this song. The 90's were a great time for music. A decade full of melancholy vibes, but most of the music was genuine and full of soul.
I agree with you all, the alternative grunge days of the 90's were the best... bands like the Nixons, Better than Ezra, Screaming Trees, Flys, Our Lady Peace, Alice in Chains....at least their is Lithium on Satellite that plays some of those bands....
my sister was the one who would always take me in no matter what. i was the bad one why did god take here from me. i got arrested. she past away. and i just wanted to die. this song really f--k me up when i hear it.. im sorry sis i love you. if i could i would take your place
Saw these guys in Columbus Ohio 12 years ago and they rocked. Got to hang with them after the concert and they were very cool. Hope they're still rockin'
I know what you mean. I lost a really good friend to a car wreck on Easter in 2003. She was awesome. We dated a few times and she was amazing. I could talk to her about anything and at her funeral her sister sang this song....It is a good song but every time i hear it...all i can think of is her. The hardest thing in my life has been loosing her.
i just found my long lost sister. this song shot into my head. manly or not, i shed a tear. i just moved to colorado and she's back nar home in virginia... why is irony so cruel.......... sister i see you..
i regret to inform all of you all that say zac sounds like anyone. he is my cousin and belive it or not he started the nixons in my garage 3 years before pearl jam was out. and i think he did great for being a guy that didn't even know how to play a guitar let alone sing when he started and for your info this song is about his sister that was killed by a drunk driver on a country road 1 mile from my home she was 14 at the time ..............r.i.p. sarah
I'm glad to find out the story behind the song. When I first heard this song right after it hit the radio, I was playing in a band and I was touched inside somewhere really deep by the emotion of the song. I wondered how someone could write a song with so much feeling and wished I could do the same. To this day, I still get a really crazy feeling whenever I hear this track.
I lost my sister my best friend to kidney failure 14 years ago. Not a day goes by that I dont think of her. I listen to this song for her. "All I am begins with you" Great song
All you haters who are saying the singer is trying to sound like Eddie Vedder- both bands were formed in EXACTLY the same year. Just b/c something becomes popular doesn't mean others only sound like them b/c they are trying to be famous- its just the times. And just b/c something is popular, does not mean it was the original idea- its just been packaged appropriately for you sheep to swallow it.
lol my whole family was in tht vid except the singer it was my sisters and my cousins my moms friend mas goin out with the camera guy and they needed kids for the video so my sisters and my cousins got in now the camera guy and my moms friend are married lol
c'mon dude vedder delivers a lot powerful emotions and sings better than this guy. though pearl jam isn't great anymore than they used to in the early 90's.
My sister died 15 year's ago and this song was played at her funeral, still makes me cry every time I hear it

This song is dedicated to my sister Lynnie she committed suicide back in 2000. This song has been hers since that day she was the greatest and always will be. Had Lynnie lived she would have changed the world --a soul lost too young.

i am so so so sorry to hear that, bu listen, if she she changed your world, she did change it.

"A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life." -Isadora James-
After 33 years... I finally found you.

My "brother", who I love dearly, is 1000 miles away. I am in my ocean home, and he is in the Midwest.
Fleeting visits pass
Still they satisfy
Reminders of the next
Overshadow goodbye
Our flames burn as one

All I am begins with you
Thoughts of hope understood
Half of me breathes in you
Thoughts of love remain true
Here we are again saying goodbye
Still we fall asleep underneath the same sky
You're all I knew you'd become

i regret to inform all of you all that say zac sounds like anyone. he is my cousin and belive it or not he started the nixons in my garage 3 years before pearl jam was out. and i think he did great for being a guy that didn't even know how to play a guitar let alone sing when he started and for your info this song is about his sister that was killed by a drunk driver on a country road 1 mile from my home she was 14 at the time ..............r.i.p.

I agree. Zac sounds NOTHING like Eddie Vedder. Zac has much more range, and a more haunting voice. I love The Nixons.
