That was a really deep match. Rick Suave was hanging in there the whole time, and the main thing that got me was the fact that doing Abel's ultra after a combo would have killed Seth on contact.

But then the fact that Seth has a lot more range than Abel does, but his stamina is lower. Intense shit.

Maybe you haven't played with Seth that often but that guy has to suffer some severe drawbacks for his advantages.

In one round two TT's put Seth to half health. Seth can win only if he can maintain pressure as well as avoid getting cornered or trading hits. Both players were good and it was a good match.

Besides have seen how little damage Seth's Ultra does?

Sagat is a bad example, hes at his strongest from across the screen, rufus is more agressive but then again I have fought alot of them that will spend the will match trying to run away. And gief, well, dont combo him if ur online or not 100% on combos since more then likely there mashing 360s. Dont even act like agressive play isnt more risky then ever in sf4. In turbo risk vs reward was more in ur favor

U most not fight alot. Every fight ends up this way. I get in a get some dmg, then they run away. But seriously, a more def game is bad. Theres no reason to go for big combos(dmg scaling), or take riskes with mix ups or just be agresssive in general. St is the definitive sf game and this game isnt living up to it(this game is based on st). The game mechanics reward runningaway/turtling, so it IS the games fault.. In hdr people dont even try that bs, they play def but not this runawway bs.

Have to disagree with you on the "not playing a lot" argument, since I play at least thrice a week in the arcades, and challenge top players in my country (Admiitedly, the Philippines is not on US or Japan's level, but we hone techniques and strats from watching Japan vids, too.). Runaway is not a popular playstyle here. Considering how we have Gambit/Storm players in MVC2, I'd like to think it's not a national trait or something.

I learned sf with turbo and that shit doesnt work in that game(they try to do it online, but thats an easy win) but in sf4 u actually have to respect it and give them space(unless they dont have a mashable reserval). I play with my boys and none of us try that runaway, we all play like it was turbo, but start playing more people, people not in ur area, and ull see. It really doesnt take much to fix the game. Take away crouch teching,auto block and short the stages.

Tick throws and frame traps (mix-ups) are powerful in SF4. When Ryu has two bars and ultra, he can make you scared to tech a throw with DP FADC ultra. You can beat reversals by crossing up (requires good timing), delayed frame traps (crouch jab, walk back, crouch mk), and backdashes or blocking. Watch high level SF4 - when you get knocked down, you don't get up without losing a quarter life

Just because people have to respect each other's space (just like ST) doesn't mean there is no offense.

with crouch teching it takes away from tick throws, not to mention mashing dps also beats tick throws and forces u to play less agressive since ur looking 4 reversal/punish the whiffed dp. And lets not forget that meaties are non existant. 1)reversals are easy and 2) u have the focus. ANd what characters are taking a quarter bar? and are they comboing an ultra, damage scaleing takes so much away when it comes to combos. A 13 hit combo(super included) with bison should take more then 300 dmg.
