@TheZiggy75g i agree with Rocketboy1950, like hell they are! Steep hills, jump ups, creek crossings, single lane bridges, sand, dust, mud, occasionally highway but mostly on the crap that car drivers refuse to drive on.
i drive a kenworth 104 b cat c15 engine which gives me 550 hp pulling bdouble tanker set up most horsepower ratings are around the 500 to 650 mark depending on the applcation of your setup more horses more pull more fuel
I see many people are posting comments on how hard these things would be to back up, driving at speeds over 60 mph, I would be more worried about stopping them:P
@aleaiectaest No problem. A bit like a train, the more wheels you have the more brakes you have except with a truck you don't want excess braking at the front end or they just might jack knife. So will a train actually given the wrong handling under the right circumstances.
Rocketboy really good vids and pics keep em coming. As a young boy my dad drove these sort of wagons across oz in the late 60s/early seventies before we returned to blighty:(
Good to see and thanks for the memories (they havent changed an awful lot in the last 40years) my dad says they probably have air con now!
@Rocketboy1950 jeez you get around. i'm driving for Gould Transport at the moment. Like ya work mate. It's an easy way for me to show my friends what i drive. Cheers.
good videos rocket boy, I'm a north west driver, and I still chuckle every time I head out of mt magnet, and see that sign with the kiwi bird on it... no offense to any one!
My Grandfather drove for the mining companies in the Northern Territory he showed me photos when I was younger of a truck he drove with 16 trailers on mining property, they travelled 120k's in a dead straight line and a spotter on the back trailer, never got out of low gear and he reckon it snaked it's way across the entire width of the road even though they were driving in a straight line.
The only trucks that i know of that tow 7 trailers are owned by the Gulf Group, they only do onsite work in the mines, mainly The Granites mine on the Tanami track with these trucks and dont take them on the public highways.
Thanks for the clarification. I was pretty sure there were none on public roads or I would have sighted them in my travels in which case you'd see them here. It seems that "depends on where you are going to" is within the confines of private property.
the country well gee the title maybee helpfull there down under australia u wana rebutt my statement u go right ahead mate i dont give a toss u wana no look it up ya self
So in other words your full of shit and can't support your statement and what title, you don't have any title and I know what my title is, it's my bloody video and I'm not aware of any 7-9 trailers so enlighten me.
Not to mention, most of Austraila's roads that the trains run on are flat and straight
