  • aaaaaahhhhhh!

    i LOVE the end music

carnaval des animaux is one of my favorite suites on my ipod!

  • The question is, will people continue to do this? Just doing this for 1-2 days doesn't make for an adequate experiment.

  • @rbc13183 Still, it is amazing to see how changing something simply to create fun can have a great impact on how much it is used. If you did want to a adequate experiment the 1-2 days would be enough. Though most would prefer at minimum a week.

  • @bigbuda01

I agree that its pretty interesting to see people so engaged in doing something so menial once you make a "game" out of it. If the goal is to see if you can make people do it for 1-2 days, then yes, its an adequate experiment. But its ultimately pointless.

However, if the goal is to get people to do this over the long-term, it is not an adequate experiment. I guarantee you that many of those people will never go back to that machine after several days.

  • 1:21 they get rid of the beer they just drunk. (:

    naaah, this is cute though.

  • Another bottle bank idea: Instead of each person submitting bottles getting a little bit of money, one random submitter each day could get all the money. I would use it more if that was the case.

  • @chrysopoeia321

That was a genius idea! Bottle lottery!

  • great ideia

  • "INGEN SLÅR VÅRT HIGH SCORE!"

  • Sweden OWNUZ

  • Look at the way the little kid danced in front of the machine at 1:16. What a cutie! VW is a genius. I love your FUN Theory. When are you bringing it here in Los Angeles?

  • And that's why I recycle.GO recycling!!!

  • STEVEN ORDER US SOME TICKETS!

  • hihi i am ur girl

  • I absolutely love this!

  • Are those glass bottles? They break inside do they?

  • The boy at the end screams "NO ONE WILL BEAT OUR HIGH SCORE!

    Hahaha, priceless :)

  • LOL!!!

  • I personally lift the lid and pour all the bottles in in one go, so much quicker.

  • this is a good idea...but who just walks around with a bag of empty bottles

  • @verdasium People who like to recycle?

  • @verdasium I'm sure that the people who walk around with bags of empty bottles recycle them.

  • this is great! its weird to see how people dont like this! i think the 35 people who disliked it where that bad at the game they missed the like button

  • In Brazil it would be broken by vandals in the first day. Its sad to born in the wrong place.

  • I thinks its a wonderful idea ... life is meant to be enjoyed folk! enjoy! have fun laught a little...

  • i love the fun theory ^_^

  • @skaterk3 A lot of people said that about the skateboard bro....

  • A smart idea but I don't think it would last too long. The attraction is in the novelty and once that is gone it likely won't be any different than a bottle depot.

  • interesting theory for other things

  • local employers hiring now careerstarttoday(dot)info tons of local jobs

  • high score!!!

  • wait, the people got money when they put bottles inside? lol what?

  • @msninjaden no, they got the satisfaction of a high score. most places do not have a bottle deposit.

  • Who walks around with so many empty bottles? This was pretty cool though.

  • INGEN SLÅR VÅRT HIGHSCORE! YEAH!

  • do they leave it like that or they take it out again ??

  • Actually, if one were interested in doing a true test, you'd have to see how often the "normal" bottle box was used when the arcade box was not in the vicinity. In other words, if this box was used 100 times and the other box was used only twice.....that's not very impressive if the other box would have been used 102 times when no arcade box were nearby.

  • no top comment :(

  • @musiclassic1 no no top comment indeed i hate top comments there rubbish

  • Amazing

  • Yeah amazing effort to make the world a cleaner place Thanks Fun theory

  • I'm extremely glad people are doing things like this to make the world a slightly better place.

  • I have a pile of glass bottled saved in my house, because I can't bring myself to throw them away, and there's not place locally I can find anywhere to recycle them! :(

  • my brother is going to make one !!! i will have so much fun with it !! ♥♥

  • Like this if when it said "Push start," you pressed enter :D

  • Thank you

  • Thank you for sharing.

  • Good video

  • INGEN SLÅR VÅRT HIGHSCORE!!!!!

  • You are truly inspiring! This is the right way to make a change not annoying or nagging people but making them happy!

  • I można? Bardzo dobry pomysł! Gdyby tak zrobić w Polsce, może nie byłoby tyle szkła na chodnikach, ścieżkach rowerowych i ulicach. W obecnym stanie, jadąc rowerem trzeba jeździć slalonem.

  • if every major city in the world did this sorta thing that would be amazing!

  • @daregoth It would also be incredibly expensive.

  • Haha man at 0:23 looks like he's gonnavrip the machinevapart with hs bare hands!!! :D

  • wow, cool! this will save some nature.

  • INGEN kan slå vårt highscore!

  • These guys make the smartest ideas i have ever seen in my life. And they made it happen! Thats not something you see every day

  • Где же бутылка на верёвочке!! Russian would have cracked this gameboy!

  • Lol I laughed when I read someones comment and I went to that time on the vid. Then a couple minutes later I laughed again when I thought of it..I guess I'm just one of those kinds of person lol.

I laughed at the end at the person speaking in a different language and when he shouted.I know I sound mean, but I meant that in a funny way

  • Can someone please tell me what music is in this as I have heard it before somewhere and I dint know where thanks.

  • i have the feeling these people were planing on recycling the bottles anyway..

  • Must be assisting lol

  • that's great I think we need this in my country

  • I call it pedagogy :)

  • Now if we can get the kinetic energy of throwing away trash to convert in to the energy used for the lights, then we'd be in business. Maybe fun can change the world?

  • ... I would play the hell outta that, believe you me.

  • Great marketing idea. But how much (and what kind of) electricity was used for this?

  • All those people lining up to recycle!!!

  • The eyebrowless guy at 0:23 scared the hell out of me.

  • 1:13 lively kid))

funny. he watched how arcade works at 1:03 and than came back to play alone. and sure had fun)

  • Does anyone know if this was patented? Also does anyone know if there is a way to get in contact with the creator?

  • put that in Detroit MI it would be gone in a day

  • Should be a law, not a theory.

  • The wolkswagen fun theory gags are all made in sweden :)

  • where is it? Is it still somewhere?

  • thumb up who here click "how to play" :D

  • Ahahaha the teenagers at the end. XD

  • can anyone tell me why we have to take the caps off plastic bottles before recycling them? Its because the government doesn't want you to recycle...they don't make $ if you recycle..and we all know what motivates the gov. to do anything ....its a pain in the ass to remove each and every cap..so it discourages you from recycling all together...and they keep your deposit...(this should create quite a stir)

  • @KBLETHF the caps are usually made of a different kind of plastic thats why you have to take them off.

  • @kingbane2 I used to think that was why too...

  • @KBLETHF

It's because it can cause problems when they compress the recyclables into bales. If the bottles have caps on them, sometimes the cap will stay on when they bale it, compressing the air. Later, if the bale is exposed to enough temperature change, the bale can break.

Source:On of our families friends works at the local recycling center and gave us a tour. We asked the same question you did. They actually had a bale explode before, filling the nearby road with bottles.

  • Omfg it's zOMG music!!!!! XD

  • hmmm, but how much energy was waseted to run this thing?

  • @givedark Sometimes you just have to meet people half-way.

  • @givedark what the fuck does it matter, we can CREATE electricity.

    fucking hippie

  • I'd plug this to a real arcade and use bottles as credits :P

  • awesome!

  • Id use my hand to make it think it was a bottle and get the high score :DD

  • @tjv323 its based weight cheater.

  • @holly2233 ok, i'd tie a string around it and pull it back up :D

  • 1:15 is the best moment. Adorable.

  • What music was used? x3

  • @Enysum actually.. Carnival of the Animals - Fossils <-- this is what you are looking for..

hope you can enjoy the whole piece

  • hopefully they're using an alternative method to provide electricity for the machine!

  • fossils song FTW

  • 1.29 INGEN SLÅR VÅRT HIGHSCORE! YEAH!

    Translation:

No one beats our high score, yeah!

I would LOVE it if you guys would try the fun theory around Sweden.

And by 'around Sweden' I mean Göteborg.

    Please?

  • every damn day id be out there

  • Lol noobs i will own the high score person with this game. Im pro

  • Parabéns, são iniciativas assim que torna o ato de preservar muito mais interessante para diversas pessoas e temos de atingir pessoas diferentes de formas diferentes.

    Espaço Escola

  • wow -.- who did the high score of 5100?

  • Is it just me or at :50 is the music from GaiaOnline's zOMG?

  • 29 people lost at the bottle arcade.

  • can they do a fun way to do essays? or studying ahhh to dream

  • guy @ 0:22 is creep as fuck

  • @uhwtfdot LOL!

  • I bet they are throwing in unused bottles

  • @sarah102175 LIAR!

  • Great idea

  • ตลกดีค่ะ น.ส.วรินทร์พร จิระเดชประไพ รร.บ้านหนองจิก Hehehe it's so funny! Kamphaengphet, Thailand

  • 1:15 seem like boy having a fun.

    :)

  • INGEN SLÅR VÅRT HIGHSCORE!!! YEAH!

  • REAL Free energy technology exists! But Elite controllers don't want ppl to be free from the costs of energy,Get a motor that needs no gas or electric input at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,The revolution begins!

  • These ideas are BRILLIANT!!! LOLOL! I LOVE IT!

  • Hahahaha!!! BRILLIANT!

  • this is so fun

  • Fun can also change our behavior for the worse:

    Herpes.

  • @HelenKellersArmy PAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.............classic!!

  • I like this video but I still think rock band roid rage is funnier .

  • Please help, whats the music in the beginning?

  • they should make a slot machine

every time you throw a bottle, the three square on the screen roll

if you get a line, maybe a message appear saying some sort of feel good stuff... like thank you bla bla bla....

if you lose, then say "try again" :)

  • That's such a good idea! I think other places should do that too. By the way, anybody know the name of the second song in the vid? (lol, it's from Gaia) Keep up the good work! :3

  • What's stopping someone from now throwing in something in that machine that is not a bottle? This won't work! Ever heard of vandalism!?!

  • @RenewableFuel Well that's in Sweden where people are a bit civilised

  • You should use a dotmatix display not an 8segment and put a small keyboard somewhere (pinballstyle?) So you can enter your name for a highscore list :)

(maby offer a small reward so homeless people can collect them on the street play allot and become professionals :P)

  • Amazing what a few flashing lights and sounds will do :) Dream Home Arcades com

  • The problem is that people find it fun because it is new and innovative. Once it gets settled in their life, they might become bored of it and opt for the traditional bank or even for none at all.

  • @yatah naw. some people still find it fun to ride the subways or take street cars. sure the number of people this amuses would drop. but would still be higher than if it was a normal bin.

  • haha i liked that

  • The song they had on Is on Gaia ZOMG.

    (:

  • maybe this will inspire more Americans to recycle?

  • Perfect. ^^

  • what's name of the song in the second 0:49 ???

  • damnit we need those things in america!!

  • Haha the kid in the end says "Ingen slår vårt highscore!" translates to "Noone will beat our highscore!". That reaction alone proves this experiment was a success :)

  • @mirenya1 I LOVE THIS! haha i'll make it my facebook status!

  • I like it fuck what anyone else says.

  • ahahaha nice :D

  • How do you know it's not just the novelty effect, which will wear off when people become used to it?

  • This has, like their cars, at least one predetermined breaking point. (Like the weak window lifter of the Polo, Fabia and probably Golf for example.)

Now it takes longer and people throw in bottles at night when those who live there want to sleep.

  • It's a nice symbolic project, but then again... after 3 days, it'd be burned down by leftist numbnuts who see it as a holy deed to recycle and there should be no fun involved at all.

  • Only Volkswagen would be the one to come with something as smart as these videos.

  • why is there two sets of numbers then? is one like the highest score?

  • @advenger32 Yes.

  • You have earned a subscription. these videos are great

  • I like that

  • i really wanted to do installation art like this in the Phils....that also is interactive and helps

  • "INGEN slår vårt highscore! YEAHH" hahahahahha

  • Do you actually win something? :))

  • Well, we play facebook games too.

  • This is totally awesome :D

  • these videos are a favorite of trolling fun killers. usually americans.

  • @bearswilleatme

    thank you.

    you just killed my fun

  • @bearswilleatme lol I totally loved this video and the piano stairs one. I am american...

  • @Face2sidewalkBi0tch i think the only thing the thefuntheory group made in the us was the speed limit lottery :/ well still this is frikkin awesome and smart

  • Er...This didn't increase recycling - it only stopped people who were heading for the original bottle bank anyway, which is why it got less use?!

Unless all these weirdos just walk around every day carrying bags full of empty bottles coz they like the sound it makes ;-)

  • :23

    lololololololepicfacialexpression

  • I've only watche da few of your vids. And they are cool ideas. But really arn't that pratical. And like all technology, the fun factor will wear off and it'll go back to normal. Cept it'll be eating electricity for just sitting there.

Look at the Wii. "Wow, lets get one". Now look at it. I haven't seen an advert on tv for it in ages, and the games are starting to wear thin.

    Fun, but no thanks.

You should put your brilliant minds to something useful.

  • @NWDarkPassionPlay Hey, at least they created something fun rather than just sit and talk but do nothing at all.

  • @NWDarkPassionPlay we get your point, but can we just let them be, even though for you it's not that good, then why not just be happy that at least there are still people willing to make things that could make this world a happier place? you're just killing the fun dude. chill. and smile :D. count blessings.

  • This thing is dangerous. When I tried it and got the jackpot I ended up knee deep in broken glass.

  • @lippyduck Lmao

  • @lippyduck LOL

  • These are very good ideas and I don't like to sound negative about its but they are popular because they are novel. Once that goes people will revert back to current behavior. A lot of fun doing them though I'd say!! Well done!

  • Who got the high score!!??!

  • they need to bring that to new york 4real

  • Too bad the result will be that people will just buy and produce more waste just to do this. Fail.

  • @XinBiDe I seriously doubt that. I might go to my house and use up the ones there, but actually buying more? For a game that doesn't give me anything return? I wouldn't do it.

  • @Tawnybmw That may be true, but it doesn't change the fact that people in this video are doing this because it's a novelty. You'd better find new ways to shock and entertain people every week or month if you want these good habits to continue. It's sad that most people can't bring themselves to do this without this kind of motivation. When is the last time you picked up litter in your community? I have to admit it's been a few months for me, and I used to be really good about it.
