I found some good teaching material on the internet. Google "Ferd'nand".
These are wordless cartoons. I have the students describe the situation trying to use all the important structures. Then I have the students role play the situation.
I've had a lot of success with this. It's the fastest way I've seen to give them a good command of important structures.
This is good material for language exchanges too. It's good for any language.
I'm in Chinese 2 in High school and these kids are slightly behind us but if they move at this pace every time they do these activities they would catch up to us in no time o.o but our class is learning characters and the written language so I'm not sure if they're doing that. they look like half the students are too young to even write in English let alone chinese ;/
I'm 16 years old and I watch Ni Hao Kai-Lan and listen to chinese music such as Jolin Tsai (Cai Li Yin - Love Love Love) and practice chinese with my friend Lili :).
My kids are learning chinese too. Future spy's

well I've seen onomatopoeias on chinese comics written in hanzi so I don't believe they carry no phonetic value...

I'm 20 and am SOOOOOOOOOO crazy jealous of these kids!
I wish I was immersed as a child in another language without even realizing i was learning another language haha.
I can only speak english fluently. that'll change soon. i'll learn like a child and work my way up, no?

@AntarcticSake Your comment reminds me of a joke:
What is trilingual? Being fluent in three languages.
What is bilingual? Being fluent in two languages.
What is monolingual? American.
XD
I wish it didn't apply to me though...
