basically use the whole neck ...loli will in a min,, Wait and see , will post my take in a bit,,, ha,, this is got to be sick... cool track.. be right back..
I would rename this in G Phrygian, it just makes life easier when it comes to finding the tonal centre when improvising. Still, fucking awesome backing tracks.
actually this is G phrygian, minor obviously.. but the tonal center is G so u can't say it's in C minor.. u can USE the scale of C minor, which actually is the same of G phrygian... nice track
no but seriously fuck this who wants to play to this shit i keep clicking on it by accident and every time it reminds me of a back sound track to a nintendo game
Maybe you could come up with a better one.. oh wait a minute you cant make anything just shit on things that others create....what a uninventive pussy.
Hi dudes, try to play diferent minor modes like; natural minor (VI), frigian (III) dorian (II) locrian(VIIb5) or minor pentatonic all with the C on root. Do not centrate in C like a natural minor, thake it better like an only C - . Try too with harmonic or melodic minor....
OK... enough is enough... there are 4 bars of C Dorian (G Minor)... then it modulates to C minor for another 4 bars, and then it repeats... that's all there is to it.
In the beginning riff you want to use C harmonic minor or G phygirian dominant. It changes depending on where the song goes, but as it goes back around into the intro riff, one would use those scales best.
@ShareefAddo its becase In C minor/Eb major F is the Dorian mode, which both pentatonic and dorian scale both have similar 'Shape' as i would call it. You would play pentatonic in 8th position. 'C'
@Fluffypopcicle Sir! Did you study at Berkley this is amazing I never thought of this in the key of W, it works! This is a breakthrough in music theory!
i was raised as a zen buddhist and we believe that reality might just be an illusion created by our brains so i figured there might be a key of W!!! bath/and logic ftw!!!
@Fluffypopcicle hahaha love it. I agree, the key of X min is a tricky bastard. You need to play with only your thumbs and anus. But once you get the hang of it... G Phyrgian baby.
@Dreadlocker3 That sounds right because G is the Phrygian mode in the key of D# major and the relative minor of that is C Minor. The reason it sounds right is because The Phrygian Scale and Harmonic Minor sale share a lot of notes.
@Dreadlocker3 The Reason G harmonic minor sounds like it works in this song is because this song is in D# Major, and G is the Phrygian mode of that key. And Phrygian mode and Harmonic Minor share a lot of notes together.
I dont think of this is in C minor. These scales follow the progression: G phrigian, Ab lydian, Bb Mixolydian. All these are modes of C aeolian or C minor. But you really have to think of how the harmony works for each chord to make it sound good
Sorry not sure what you mean, but if you play a scale relative to another one, and you play that scale itll sound different ofcourse :) Im not sure if theres anything more to it, but im not a theory buff either :P
YEAH! I asked my guitar instructor about Phrygian and all the other modes and stuff tonight, and now it makes a LOT more sense. This mini argument sparked my interests, thanks guys!
its using all the same notes as "c-minor" but you are starting it off with the 5th interval in the c-minor scale, making it either "g-lydian" or "g-phrygian" (i think it's phrygian) read more theory on modes, and that should explain it.... also this scales shares all of the same notes as "d#major" the only thing that makes these scales different is your starting note... this just changes the "mode" not the "key signature"..
basically use the whole neck ...loli will in a min,, Wait and see , will post my take in a bit,,, ha,, this is got to be sick... cool track.. be right back..

theory question
F# minor is the relative for A major
now how can this be used or what significance does it make when playing
thanks for any help on this
lookylooky2006 2 years ago
It means that the F# minor scale has the same notes as the A major scale
lobyte 2 years ago
thanks
yeah I knew that but I was trying to think does it mean anything more
the closet I can think of is that it is the Aeolin mode and when used you would center the tonality off the F# instead of the "A"

its using all the same notes as "c-minor" but you are starting it off with the 5th interval in the c-minor scale, making it either "g-lydian" or "g-phrygian" (i think it's phrygian) read more theory on modes, and that should explain it.... also this scales shares all of the same notes as "d#major" the only thing that makes these scales different is your starting note... this just changes the "mode" not the "key signature"..
xxxguitargodxxx1989 2 years ago
@xxxguitargodxxx1989 I didn't know that. :/
But Im just saying most people find it easier to just go off the Major/Minor key than one of the modes. But thanks for letting me know that.
JacobLampman777 2 years ago
actually it's e flat major. the parallel major. d# major would have b# minor as parallel, which would make it 9 sharps in the key signature. think.
