  • Target Practise

  • '

that is a cooool american missile can go hit and destroy ussr russia spysatellite

  • americans r dumfuks check ur facts thx

  • haha white people managed to do this. guess that means whites are superior?

  • This is the stuff we create, and the stuff we waste our lives worrying about.

  • anyone heard how the chinese jumped up when they heard this?

now even they are pointing at the sky

so if hostilities break they will also shoot satellites...

  • so there are actualy satelites that can fall down and cause harm?

odd since i've never heard that a satelite would have survived the fall so intact that it could cause serious harm...

  • I think Many USA satalite are equiped with TOXIC chemicals and radiations. so it can also be used as a weapon target by throwing the satalite at a country.

  • A sat needs a heat shield and aerodynamic qualities to come down intact or to hit the right spot.

There IS a system where you throw a bomb into space and it falls on the target. It's called a ballistic missile. The US has plenty, as do many other countries. These originate from WW2.

Almost all sats have toxic chems. Hydrazine is a common and appropriate fuel for sats and spaceships. It is also very toxic and dangerous to handle on the ground. So it is less popular for launch vehicles.

  • It's a fantastically long shot so I won't argue about their intentions. But FWIW: Our Skylab space station came down in pretty large pieces in Australia.

The local government charged NASA a fine for littering.

Also, when the Columbia disentegrated, it's hydrazine tanks came down intact.

  • looked like a space shuttle to me. debris crashin down makes a change from crashin on the way up

  • but they couldn't stop the 11-s

  • It was going to hit Norway, south of Norway.

I live in Norway, but YAY USA, they shot down the spy satellite :D!

  • if it crashes we will die

  • so happy shoot down russian space station. those guys really crazy up there. why always always going to space station. good u.s.a for the shoot down crazy russian spy station. long live brave U.S.A

  • US shot down the chinese satellite, and they are getting mad. but this is fun for other asian countries.

  • We will get that death star.

  • It actually there might be more of an arrogance factor, since China took down their satallite some time ago. I guess now every country has to join in on the fun. Hell, as long as they're not blowing each other up, I'm content.

  • Shoot down that git

  • when China shooted down it's satellite, the whole world opposed China, but now the US is doing the same thing, and all nations mute, that is so funny, the world is amazing

  • shooted down ?

  • I am not a teacher of English。。。

    maybe shot。。。

  • That's because 1) China did it specifically to show off their capabilities. 2) The satellite the Chinese shot down was in a significantly higher orbit, and a more stable orbit. 3) The debris field created by the chinese test will be in orbit for a lifetime, and will be a constant threat other craft in orbit. The debris from the American test was never a threat to other satellites, and it will completely burn up within a few weeks at the most. It's simply not an analogous situation.

  • what the fuck . are you bullshit, Please do not speak if you do not know the Chinese satelite, when the Chinese satelite was shooting down , the US annouced that the space rubbish will harmful to the world atmosphere, but now the US shotting just for the world .what the hell.

  • Well would u rather it crash into your house?????

  • waht a shame? you just want to hide your contry ?heh , maybe you brian is broekn

  • Holy shit. Get a spellcheck, then try to call other people on the internet braindead ;)

  • lol..u mean brain??

  • There was never a choice of actually letting the satellite crash on the surface due to the harm it could commit on the population if it hit a city. The fact that your trying to say that the U.S. was wrong for shooting it and preventing the harm this satellite would've done is retarded

  • are you nuts. i not saying U.S. was wrong for shooting it and preventing the harm this satellite would've done is retarded .Please check it once again ok ?

  • Oh yes, I am sure the satellite malfunctioned and it had to be shot down. It was just an excuse to test their missiles. Don't be ignorant people. Read between the lines.

  • I think the satellite was still functioning while the missile took it down. More like the camera on board was used to record the whole thing so it can be used in future wars. Also, this can sound a little crazy, but have anyone thought there might have been warheads, possibly nukes on that satellite? Hence it had to be shot down otherwise it would explode once it hit earth.

  • well my physics teacher was talking about the radioactive fuel in it being hazardous and that they didn't want to risk contaminating some place where it hit and leaked out. the explosion from the rockets is be enough to decay the radioactive fuel.

  • The news said the satellite had a ton of hydrazine (N2H2) for its maneuvering thrusters. The satellite went dark, so it was frozen solid. Hydrazine is really bad for lungs.

They've been waiting for it the orbit to decay enough so the shrapnel wouldn't stay in orbit (someone tell that to the Chinese orbital polluters.) Small bits burn up on re-entry, so it's way safer than having something the size of a school bus come down on somebody's head.

  • this isn't space cowboys...

  • It's target practice in case they need to shoot down a UFO. LOL, j/k

  • They only did it to test the missle defence system

  • So do we have to do this to every single one thats in space when there times comes?

  • I guess yes, launching $10,000,000 worth missile at every single setilliete that is not responding.

  • Just an excuse to test out satellite missiles in my opinion. The satellite would have burned up when it enters the atmosphere anyways.

  • Yes it is. And excuse like it contain Hydrazine Gas inside Spy Satellite could effect human life is a pure BS. You can find this chemical gas inside you car air bags and homemade fire cracker. I'm sure that US just wanned to test their new Aegis Missile.

  • or maybe it just has something else in there that the U.S. goverment doesnt want people to get ahold of. It's a spy sattelite from the cold war.. so Pics, maybe or even nuclear warheads?

  • do a lil more research, wasnt a cold war satelite, it was a new satelite launched by a delta 2 rocket a year or two ago. imediatly after entering orbit the satelite began showing signs of mechanical failure...

  • However its a spy satellite. It might contain our picture.

  • of course that is true, but im not sure if any photos were even taken because of the immediate problems

  • if its hit what is the explosion range?

  • They hit it last night. The must not have had the vice president aiming .

  • Ahahahaha!

  • lmao

  • no one cares about Oregon, USA

  • Nooooooooooo, dont hit Australia

  • i know like every time it came around the globe i was like holy crap its gonna hit it them, nooo! we didnt even get to see where it would end up hitting though...

  • yeah. they said it wouild be shot down over Australia.

  • That's because no one can be wholly certain of where it was going to come down.

  • ...dang...I was hoping for some real footage :\

  • might some of the debris come down near oregon, USA???

  • cool if it works

  • Nice, but could we get some sound?

  • NO. There is no sound in space. Really. You need air in order to hear sound.

  • was there sound when the big bang happened?

On a side note, its pretty amazing a rocket from a ship, can hit something in outer space, bet the russians are scared at how easily the states could knock out their satellites etc heh.

  • I'm not a nerd, but I doubt that there was sound at the dawn of time. My son always comments that the explosions in the star wars movies wouldn't have sound in the real world, as there is no atmosphere to carry the sound waves. So, space is a good place to fart, I suppose.

  • *bang*

  • That was gay..

  • hey that is going to happen tonight! 2/20/2008
