Radioactive iodine treatment- 10/28/09

iodine pills better than liquid to avoid salivary gland absorption of a radioactive iodine or ask her to suck a lemon to clean the salivary gland

I am going to take that pill June27th .... I am really scary..... Doictor told me that I do not have thyroid cancer , but I saw in Youtube that this pill only for thyroid cancer..... let me ask u.... do u have thyroid cancer? May be doctor just didnt tell me.....

Hello, i have hyperthyroidism i want to take the radioactive iodine or surgery treatment, and i want to ask if i will than gain weight? and i do not want to be fat is it possible to exercise? like weight lifting etc. will there be any diverence between me and normal guys? btw im male, pls reply thank you.

I had a big incision on my neck.. Coz I have a papilary thyroid cancer ( see my vid) I am preparing for the radio iodine therapy.. What should I do ? I'm kinda curious

That was really interesting. I had folliculat thryoid cancer 10 years ago and when I had my radio active iodine - everyone immediately ran out of the room and left me sitting there alone in my room!! So I don't know why your health care person didn't! Also you must of had a video camera. Was that covered up with something to stop radiation? Good luck everyone.

i am gonna have my treatment the 21st . i first had surgery, and the doctors thought that would be enough but it wasn't . and the downside of all this is that i have to take meds for the rest of my life . but the surgery was pretty cool i mean the aftermath . i have this big ass scar across my throat which scares the crap out of people LOL

the doctor did say it would take atleast 5 to 6 months for an exual result from the Iodine shizzle .

ooh and i'm having the treatment because i have Graves

my sister's cat had a thyroid problem, but he was very old and very late in being diagnosed. i can't imagine how you stayed away from your cat! i really hope you did stay away from the cat though. i mean you have to keep your distance or it can hurt you! i do have to take thyroid supplements on a daily basis for life. i was told by a doctor that without thyroid meds, first i would go crazy and then i would die. we need our thyroid to live! love my medicine!!

i just got the same treatment for my cat last week. it's actually easier for cats since there's only a 5% chance of the thyroid being completely destroyed, so it's practically a cure with no side-effects. he seems to be a lot more happy and healthy since the treatment. the only problem is trying to keep him away from us for a week or so while he's still a weapon of mass destruction.

i heard most people end up needing to take thyroid supplements, how about you?

Geekchess, my brother-in-law was hyper, eventually he had to have the RAI treatment to get it under control, but he is doing find now. i know it made him feel terrible, and he had to eat all the time. hopefully the meds will make you feel better. i know skinny is bad for a guy, but try and look on the bright side, it really is way better than being the opposite! i am doing just fine. i did not want to swallow that pill! :) i still am getting my body adjusted to not having a thyroid. i felt find before the surgery. i found out i had cancer but my thyroid worked just fine. so i have gained some weight and get tired easily, but i hope to adjust my meds so it will get better. my body scan came back a little strange looking so i have to have another scan in April. are you having problems?

Hope everything go's well for you. I'm 24, male, it looks like hyperthyroidism. We first thought it was ADHD with all the symptoms (Anxiety, nervousness, stress, shacking, heart palpation's, ugh what I've been through.

I'm extremely skinny, so if the second blood test confirms hyperthyroidism, I will do so happy! I won't have to wear long selves and 2 t-shirts 2 jumpers, + another jumper too look "Normal" anymore. Hope this is my problem, and I hope to god I gain weight.

God! i was diagnosed yesterday of having hyperthyroidism. And now i'm so scared asking God why me? i'm only 14. But i know there's a reason. let's pray for each and everyone of us.
