The issue for me is Japanese companies lobby hard to have a total & free open market in the US to sell their products while @ the same time imposing restrictions and placing high tariffs on goods from the US making it almost impossible for us to do business there. They have a protectionist market this has lead to an 25 year trade deficit with Japan. Today they own a trillion dollars worth of US equities. I'm all for fair & free trade as long as it goes both ways.
Actually what I am getting at is the US is @ a disadvantage when it comes to trade with some countries. Canada Australia & most of Western Europe have a fair trade with us. Japan and China are the worse when it comes to buying US products.

The issue for me is Japanese companies lobby hard to have a total & free open market in the US to sell their products while @ the same time imposing restrictions and placing high tariffs on goods from the US making it almost impossible for us to do business there. They have a protectionist market this has lead to an 25 year trade deficit with Japan. Today they own a trillion dollars worth of US equities. I'm all for fair & free trade as long as it goes both ways.

Actually what I am getting at is the US is @ a disadvantage when it comes to trade with some countries. Canada Australia & most of Western Europe have a fair trade with us. Japan and China are the worse when it comes to buying US products.
I just hate to see so many Americans working for little more than minimum wage. I am lucky in that I have had a job that I can live well. I wish that more of could.

Its hard to do business in Japan with high tariffs & restrictions. When Clinton was president he got the Japanese government to lower the tariff on American cars sold in Japan. It was 100%; I dont know what it is now. But it was just a token gesture. The Japanese are loyal to their products. Plus the steering wheel is on the wrong side for the market there. It's not just cars but beef, lumber & the list goes on when it comes to selling in Japan.
