  • Ku Rin. Japan already launched a compressed air vehicle that runs 80 kms per hour. So long MDI!! Too late for your AirPod.

  • This is the beginning of something BIG!!!!!!!!

  • @gabyarriagada1949 Yep biggest CON in vehicles since Splitcycle

  • the engine sounds like the one from the Citroen Dyane shown at 1:20

  • I was waiting for 20 clowns to jump out of it!! HAHAHA.

  • MDI has been making statements for too long now--none of them ever fullfilled. (Air cars hav ben demonstated for over 100yrs now--so what, nothing new). They have had enuf time to show us an honest demonstration of their car moving just 30miles--they havent, they wont. DO NOT INVEST until these yokels show u something that does something useful.

  • I bet that down hill he gets a speed ticket xD

  • it look like a big toy car

  • Fizzguts is angry because he gave money to MDI and got little or nothing back. He posts daily comments on youtube, to create "evidence" against MDI, for later legal action.

MDI is not legally/morally obligated to return money. Since MDI is not yet selling cars, they simply dont have money to give back. Greedy, a-holes such as Fizzguts dont deserve to get their money back. Dont believe anything which Fizzguts says unless he shows links or proof (which he never does).

  • @ReeseL4D Well, since distributors paid rights to sell these cars which will never be produced I think they are owed the money. I know Catecar has served them with legal notice and I imagine others will too.

  • I wounder why MDI never looked into compress liquid CO2 for energy storage. CO2 has better energy density. I do not know by how much.

  • It has air brakes!

  • i want engine of MDI car i like this video where is this engine please tell me about this engine please sent me details of this engine

  • acts like a golf cart

  • this is bullshit

  • its Februari 2011 now, the AirPod is on the road in Europe, the AirOne on its way to be allowed on the road and sold just before 21dec2012. Would be nice to have go with it at least once in a lifetime...

  • @180964294

Airpod on the road? NOPE NOT happening. Catecar is suing MDI for non delivery of engines. Same old CON.

There is NO problem with certification it's just a stupid power plant, a lousy low power short range power plant. To hide this MDI has been creating crap cars for the last 11 years and then wittering on about "certification"

There are dozens of micro cars in Europe MDI could bolt the power plant into but that would let people test them but MDI DOES NOT want that.

  • @fizzguts I agree it con and good one at that. This had me fool about five years ago. It fool any one who does not about energy density of air and efficiency of their engine. Looking at this their engine very inefficient because I saw vapor coming out. The air looks like it never when through a expansion stage. Plus every time I look at there engine I away ask my self where is the radiator or heat exchanger.

  • The problem with air is volume, a typical SCUBA tank holds 3000psi but not enough volume. These cars have long slender tanks but not enough pressure/volume of air to go anywhere except very short distances. Also the body designs are interesting but how would they hold up after getting blasted by a large 4000 pound vehicle?

  • AHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!! A tootle around the parking lot is a road test? I guess that's all you need to convince the true believers.

  • Gasoline smells great!! And it makes cars go fast!...this shit was going 10mph max and air sucks! Air doesn't smell good or anything. Fuck air

  • Google

    rexresearch negre

    vencat 20 miles

    e.volution south africa

    berkley air car

10 years of lies and stupid claims NO cars sold NO independent tests just a bunch of hucksters trying con people out of money for franchises

  • @fizzguts . If you're thinking of investing money on this car then the least you should do is research it beforehand. Every year Negre says "It should be in production by next year". I have no sympathy for people losing money on this hoax. Negre is a huckster, but those people deserve to be stolen from.

  • @MeketoaI Yeah I know but I hate letting scammers & frauds get a free ride. I was once persuaded to tone down a review I wrote on Splitcycle engines in Aust. People I knew invested because a well know but senile racing driver / engine builder backed it & over $100 mill vanished. Still pisses me off. So if I can stop one person from doing their retirement $ on a scam it's worth it. Remember most people have NO idea about maths & physics. The classic is confusing energy for power. Bloody sad

  • @fizzguts It is sad when older people get taken I agree. But a lot of people are just greedy. Every year it's the same thing "Next year", since he's been saying that for over 10 years you would think people would get a little suspicious. Cripes on another video they're talking about it as a perpetual motion machine.

  • @fizzguts Oh come on. It's like falling for one of those Nigerian email scams. "Your long lost relative Joe died and left you $10,000,000, send us $5,000 so we can release it to you."

  • @MeketoaI Unfortunately the level of scientific knowledge in the great unwashed is very low so when someone makes such an outrageous claim as air cars or magnet motors there will be "believers". Part of it's greed "I'll get in and make a killing"part wishful thinking. the "little guy" shows the "big guys" The "lone inventor in the garage" creating progress. WRONG,

The psychology of scams fascinates me Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds from 1841 is still relevant

  • No independent verification of Fizzgut's claims means he is a CON, a dangerous CON who deceives technical illiterates. You have been warned.

  • We talk about getting off dependency on oil, about saving the environment and going ‘green’ and creating jobs, well something like this could do that. Why aren’t working on making these cars?

  • @goldielocks513 It's a pathetic con with a real range of about 5 miles aimed at technically illiterate investors

  • Thats what they call a TEST DRIVE???????? Well their calims they make about this piece of rubbish are as good as this test drive. Thats for sure.

  • the oil companies do not want this car coming to America ! thats the hold up the greedy oil companies

  • Is it real better than a car with an electric engine? You need electricity or something else to produce the compressed air. My question is: Is the eco-balance better than in a electric car?

(Excuse me for my bad English...)

  • @qrtfgxcv 5 times WORSE than an electric car

  • It wins the ugly car contest.

  • Comment removed

  • I hope it has a compressor on board. This will make the car go long distance.

  • In a small-city car weighing 1100 pounds, two 100-liter (26.4-gallon) cylindrical tanks pressurized to 4350 psi provide 5 to 10 miles of city driving range.

It's a pathetic short range scam for technically illiterate investors

  • In a small-city car weighing 1100 pounds, two 100-liter (26.4-gallon) cylindrical tanks pressurized to 4350 psi provide 60 to 90 miles of city driving range. Refilling would take about two minutes at a compressed-air station. Plugging into a 220-volt electrical outlet at home or work, the tank fills in about four hours, while an on-board motor spins the engine as a compressor.

    Read more at motortrend

  • i heard the claim this engine could drive a car to 110kph.. but the more i think about it the more i doubt this, with no reaction in the engine the torque available is very small..im not sure how they could avoid this problem. i believe at the beginning of this video if the car didnt start by going down a ramp we would have waited 1/2 the video for it to reach the speed it was at of maybe 25kph

  • It might have become obvious to the powers-that-be that these upstarts were a threat to the petroleum takeover that was well under way in the transportation industry; after world war two the term "air engine" was never used in compressed air textbooks and air powered locomotives, if used at all, were usually equipped with standard, inefficient air motors.

  • The H. K. Porter Compound Air Locomotives, 1896-1930

Inventor Charles B. Hodges became the first and only air car inventor in history to see his invention become a lasting commercial success. His engine was two-stage and employed an interheater between the two piston stages to warm the partially expanded compressed air with the surrounding atmosphere.

  • The MDI company have had a working compressed air engine since 2001 and the beginning of 2002. However there is no political legislation or pledge to force the implementation of this technology over the polluting internal combustion engines.

  • @mikehanoo33

The MDI company have been taking money for technical illiterates from the late 1990's and have NEVER created anything that comes close to their idiot claims. How much does MDI pay you to shill for them?

  • I don't understand the need for such a complex motor. Why use not a simple pneumatic air gun design or a heavy turbine wheel? How about a turbine at every wheel that doubles as a brake system using servos (lap and sleeve assemblies)to reverse the air flow back into the tanks? Simpler, lighter and restores air pressure during braking. (Just thinking out loud here.)

  • No thanks. Fat americans won't fit in that piece of shit

  • That;s what you call a road test???? Why not objectively and scientifically measure the energy and the CO2 emissions that is needed to power the car? From the power plantt to the well, including the compression and expansion cycle. Then you will find out very easy that this concept is everything but intelligent and thought through. Besides this rubbish already existed 100 years ago.

  • Funny, like toy car :)

  • That was a road test? So it will make a couple of laps around a walmart parking lot?

  • No offense but the design of all these compressed-air cars is really horrible.. Try to make 'em look like a normal car? =D

  • The air motor tank combo only gives about a 5 mile range so they faff about with "new" designs to sell the con

  • What's with the gay style?

  • Take a Hummer.

  • Well I like sports cars. Yet they should work on a more marketable everyday joe style.

  • There's a beginning for everything mate. Off course this car is ugly, but I think that they want to first sell it cheap, as a car not to take ur girl to the restaurant, but to work with.

Don't worry, if people start to buy it, sexier models will come out.

Just remind the first cars produced in late 18XX ;)

  • I see what your saying.

  • @superlag What a stupid concept is, remains stupid. To store 14.3 kWh @300 bar in 300 l (90 m3 @ 1 bar) reservoirs, you need at least 93 kWh on the compressor side (with an optimum compressor working on the ideal adiabatic limit and assuming a 100% efficiency of the engine, which is not in practice). and 14 kWh is a bit more than 1 l of gasoline. So this Negre guy is either stupid or criminal

  • @joakimveyron

I haven't make serious calculi as urs, and I don't (really) care, but I believe you, you're probably right.

But at the end, the market (and a touch of marketing) will decide if this car have a potential, or not. Don't forget, that it's not a "bio" "ecological" car or something, just a car whit a different power engine (in fact, a deported one).

Can be (maybe) useful in specific environment.

  • @superlag Hey, I didn;t even make any serious calculation. What I said is actually is only common sense and the basics every engineer (should) know: basics of thermodynamiics. If u don't believe me, then u also can get a scientific evaluation of the compressed air car here: Google "Creutzig "economic and environmental evaluation of compressed air cars" "

  • It is actually a more European style, but a gay style is essentially the same thing.

  • Well I know, but hear in America this car would be the biggest joke in history.

  • and your governors senators and congressmen are slowly coming out of the closet

  • the sound reminds me of those willy jeeps!

  • come on make it out to us already

  • sounds like a riding lawn mower, not bad. Wish they'd move their butts and get on with it! I've never seen ANY air cars on the lots. If they work, WE WANT ONE! If not, stop pulling our chains!

  • hmmmm......would people in europe want to be seen in that? lol

  • The aspect ratio of the video is messed up so it looks shorter and squatter than it does in real life. Look at the wheels - they are oval shaped in this film!

  • @stephensamperi

I don't think everyday people will buy it ^^, It's most a car for factory / industry in my opinion!

  • In the only test published by MDI, their prototype ran out of compressed air after only 7.22km. Somehow, though, they managed to convince themselves that through a whole series of "future" improvments that this range could be increased by a factor of 25 to over 200km. Enter "mditestresults" at tinyurl to get the wayback archived page.

  • When does an auto magazine ever get to do a real road test?

MDI has been announcing "production next year" since 2000, but have never delivered.

I suspect that the problem has been operating range, since in the only test data ever published by MDI their prototype ran out of air in 7.22km. They then used a lot of wishful thinking to come up with projected improvements that would increase the observed 7.22km to the 200km they keep claiming ---- but never achieve!

  • @Charlieutube99 it is feb2011 now, AirPods producttyping is done for eurpean roads. Any idea how complicated it is to put something on the market for which no rules excist yet? This year the AirOne should be product tested to be allowed on the road and sold just before 21dec2012. Would be nice to have at least one ride in a compressed air powered car in a lifetime :-)

  • @180964294 MDI have been promising cars since 2000 look at how old this video is.

There have been NO independent TESTS. ie The local automobile assn takes this piece of shit to a test track and finds out just how well it goes. MDI uses designing a new "car" every year so they can keep taking money from ignorant investors. There is no product testing required just take the engine and tanks bolt them into a Smart car. Now test it. Oh dear. 5 mile range at 20 miles per hour. IT"S A CON

  • it runs on air who care's about the noise

  • Soccer moms.

  • well done!

  • What is helpful to remeber, when watching this video, is that this car's motor uses one quart of VEGETABLE oil. The preheater (used over 35 MPH), can be run on 100% ethanol. This car NEVER needs ANY fossil fuels!!! OPEC can go pack sand!! This company has done a great job, considering they are NOT a multi-billion dollar company. I can't wait for the 6 passenger sedan coming in 2010, from the American company, Zero Pollution Motors. $18,000 for a Plug-in Compressed Air Hybrid, 106 MPG!

  • Too Noisy. How much money? Need to know sale prices so we can save to buy one that is SILENT. Get your freaking muffler act together.

  • dude - they are bloody prototypes - of course they are gonna be noisy! I suspect we will see more silent running machines when they hit production.....

  • that's true...the prototypes in the videos don't have mufflers! That's why they are noisy The finished car will not be any louder than a gas engine car...possible less noisy...I can't believe how ill informed people are about this car when a little research online would clear up their doubts...

  • So technically this is a "putter around in he parking lot" test- not an actual road test. And why the take off assist from the ramp? Don't get me wrong, an air powered golf cart is an interesting idea!

  • MDI is a strange company. They have developed an air powered motor, and car, but they have no test track. For 15 years they have been driving prototypes around their parking lot. It will be interesting next December, when they release their intitial pilot lot of 50 cars. I hope a car magazine will REALLY test this car. The website lists the 6 cylinder car as top speed of 96 MPH, and 106 MPG, but they never list acceleration.

  • @Aircarfan SCAMMER GTFO OFF THIS VIDEO YOU WORK FOR A RIVAL COMPANY AND PLANT STORIES VIA YOUTUBE COMMENTS ON ALL MDI VIDEOS. READERS BEWARE!

  • @Aircarfan: Why would you need a test track for a golf cart? If they start making actual cars ...

  • yes the car will be available in the US as of 2010 and pre-order is in 2009...however, I think it's only the 4 door -6 passenger car is coming here. It has the same features as the 2 door

  • The American version uses a 6 cylinder engine. The OneFlowair shown here is a 4 cylinder. I hope the production models of both have a better muffler system!

  • Zero Pollution Motors for a long time said that reservations would be taken starting mid-2009 for deliveries in 2010.

Around July 2009 the zeropollution website was shut down for updates, and hasn't come back since.

At this time it does not appear that MDI/ZPM don't have any plans to introduce a car in the USA in 2010. I tried to confirm this, but e-mails to ZPM go unanswered.

  • Really seems a bit noisy, but what to do. First cars a 100 yrs ago was noisy also ;-)

Great! Keep going. We will beat the oil cars monopolists...

  • "First cars a 100 yrs ago was noisy also ;-"

    Nope

not if you bought a Locomobile, or a Stanley or a White or a Serpollet etc etc

  • It's great to see video fo an air car other than the citycat prototype .Will this car be available in the United States? I thought about buying a chevy volt till I heard about the $35,000+ Price tag.I can buy 4 Onecats for that or 2 Citycats .When will video of the Citycat2 be available? I don't mind a Onecat for under $10,000 . What's up with the holes in the doors? It comes with a convertible top right? I plan on getting on the waiting list when it becomes available!

  • i agree. I was tired of seeing the same silver van prototype. This car will be in France this December, with European sales in 2009. The price is 3500 Euros. More for a hard top, and 2 more seats in the back. Zero Pollution Motors in the US, will have a 4 door sedan for under $18,000, in 2010.

  • Quote "This car will be in France this December, with European sales in 2009"

It's now the end of December 2008 Nada, Zip, Zero. Want to take a small wager on your 2009 and 2010 predictions?

  • The driver sits on the center line of the car rather than on the left or the right. Interesting.

  • Looks interesting...keep the videos coming!

  • pretty noisy it seems
