  • Hey LT, at first I didn't know that was you! Long time no see ;)

  • Great video mate.

I love my SMLEs I own, with out a doubt the best bolt-action rifle ever made.

  • @JimmyG228 Thank you. I completely agree.

  • the name of the song, please!

  • @navar2000 Rule Britannia!

  • I love the Number 1 MKIII* espcially the ones from Enfield and Lithgow. The Number 4s with the peep sights are horrible because of the size of the back sight, great for close combat but usless for 200 yards plus. The Australians were smart to produce the MKIII*s till 1957,it was a better rifle and love it.Cheers Enfield shooters!

  • With the thumb and forfinger of the right hand grasp hold of the bolt knob!! A fantasic piece of kit.First used a no4 in boys service 1958,last used it with the ACF over 30yrs later, used every issue inbetween but the one that sticks in the mind is this one.

  • great video i realy like it . however you left out the full auto conversions as well as the bulldog also refered to as a tanker carbine.

  • @solkacorot Thank you. Because of time I only included the principle variants.

  • My grandfather carried one in WW1, my father carried one in WW2 and my father-in-law carried one in Korea. Father-in-law said they called it a tree or a log in Korea, he rented a locker in Seoul stored it there and got himself an M1 carbine.

  • @walkenshaw2000 That is incredible. The Lee Enfield sure has a close connection to your family. Do you have one?

  • @LTWW2 I've had several , hunted with them. The oddest one was a full stocked .410 gauge single shot model that was used in prisons. It looked exactly the same as a mkiii except for the odd calibre.

  • @walkenshaw2000 That's really cool, I've seen them for sale online before. When the barrels were shot out they often converted them to .410 for riot control etc.

  • Did you know that the current rifle, the L85A2 is a Lee Enfield as well? And also, some Asian military's/police use them and the Taliban also use a very few of them, mainly as designated marksmen or sometimes sniper rifles.

  • @RowanR06 I'm not sure how the L85A2 is a Lee Enfield. I do know that Lee Enfields are still in use around the world though.

  • @LTWW2 I've heard it from somewhere ages ago, perhaps wiki it, it might say there but I do remember it is a variant of the Lee Einfield.

  • @LTWW2 it uses the same bolt design,so its realy a lee enfield thats been modifyed.

  • 1:40 who are they? civilians reserves? looks like the Old IRA to be honest.

  • @rifleman1122 I think it's supposed to be the Home Guard, but I'm not sure.

  • @jVlonzter Probably. It's always fun to use the enemy's guns against them.

  • at 3:52, is that a British soldier firing an MP 40?

  • @clearview7 Yes it is.

  • great legendary and elegant rifle ever made

  • The barrel had rolling block Remingtons in 43 Spanish and a few Russian Nangant bolt actions.

  • The Jungle Carbine is a great boat gun we used for sharks. My first Enfield was a Mk 3 full stock rifle in 303. I got it from a barrel full of them in a hardware store for $10.00 in the 1960s ! The best batch of ammo came from Isreal and I had a lot of fun in the gravel pits target shooting.

  • @sr633 I sure wish that you could still buy them for $10! A Mk III these days costs $200 and up.

  • The man at 2.30 opening and closing the bolt with the palm of his hand would make a Sergeant Major's day. The thumb and fore finger is correct!

  • I wasn't trying to shoot a mad minute mate. Just relaxed shooting.

  • I am Sorry! LTWW2 But it should be done right. It was drummed into us every action had to be perfect, the main reason for the thumb and forfinger to action the bolt was to keep the fingers away from the trigger, Also the bolt slipping back open on a greasy palm can take the eye out. I tought weapon training and tactics at RMA sandhurst, and in my own battalion and I suppose I can't change now.

  • Thank you for the advice, it is always good to hear from people who weapons and tactics training. I do use that method when I am shooting more rapidly.

  • My opinion the Mark III or No. 1 Mark III was the best and neatest looking Lee Enfield model.

  • I have a hard time choosing a favorite because the No. 1 handles so well and is very neat looking, but the No. 4 has better sights and looks neat too.

  • Hello, it's awesome to see that people from Serbia are watching my video. I completely agree, and it's cool that the Serbian Army has Lee Enfields in reserve. The Enfield is still soldiering on.
