Where you when Haliburton was charging the U.S. government $46.00 for a six pack of locally bottled soda or $100.00 for "washing" one small bag of laundry?
Bush and Henry Paulson started this, supported by every other "sell-America-down-the-river" politician for many years before them! But Bush and Paulson is the reason many of us got motivated to gather and assemble and protest! :-D Signed, well-informed, former Republican!
See, I've been in the streets since Bush started destroying the constitution. So I have to ask, where were you people when we were protesting illegal wars based on lies, or when Bush was starting to the Bailout spree? And if you think it's just about Obama and the Dem's, then you're just as clueless as the liberals when they just blame Bush.
Dear Xpress: We are here now...... or does the door of democracy close, to late marchers? I would think you might be more welcoming. We are older and don't take to the streets, so impetuously.
.... As I recall, CONGRESS passed the Bailout spree.... We KNOW it is NOT, just about Obama and the Dem's... Now that our old bones are moving, try to keep up.
cowgirlmoon, i'd love to believe you are sincere in your concern, but based on my own experience at multiple Tea Parties in my Region, I am losing hope quickly.
90% of the people i have spoken with at these rallies are entirely partisan in their perspective, and fail to see the forest for the trees. We'll see how you all vote in the 2010 election to see where you all stand. More Republican traitors? I sure hope not.
They have ruined this country as much as the Democrats.!!
XpressForumsClick, Politics carries deep anchors of belief, just like religion. This is why we are so divided and why it is so easy to be manipulated, but down, at the very arm of the anchor which digs deep into the soggy Earth, is the core belief that we want what is best for our world and THAT is all the release we need, to pull those anchors from their depths. Our strength is in the spirit of the constitution, which empowers the people, NOT the aristocracy.
The irony in utilizing Mr. Dylan's image was the juxtaposition of a 60's protest 'icon' with today's situation as it applies to what's being protested, and who the protestors now are. Note that Mr. Obama is only a small part of the lyrical narrative. It focuses also on the media, Congress, parents, and most importantly, ourselves. Freedom has to be reclaimed with every generation, Mr. patorjk. I think Mr. Dylan could appreciate the continued heralding for change.
You do realize Bob Dylan has spoken highly of Obama, right? Projecting your views onto a real person isn't necessary for you to get your point across. This is kind of silly.
I did take time off from work and drove 1400 miles with my family and the courage of my convictions in tow, to Washington DC. The Dylanesque video not withstanding, I walked the walk. My 74 year old m-i-l walked the walk. My b-i-l with bad football knees walked the walk. My spouse with the bad back walked the walk. We stood for some 5 hours to make our voices heard.
What have you done lately to prove the courage of your convictions, Mr Shruggery?
I'd be willing to bet he's taken the opportunity to educate himself about the issue at hand. Can you tell me exactly why you and your family went to DC?
What I don't understand is why every left wing, liberal, extremist is able to have their protest songs. They are able to take whatever song, or write a song and it's a work of art and speaks volumes. But as soon as a republican has a song like that the artist would barf, or they call someone a "Faux News GOPer Clown" All I have to say is that you "democrats" really have a way of uniting the people of this country as one to do something great.
"Spin on the news" and the great Master Mind of this event is Glenn Beck...WOW! Yeah I think this country is great, but I don't have to go to some Conspiracy Theory FREAK SHOW to prove it. Why don't you stop embarassing yourself and the country so love so much and actual become more educated with something besides FAUX News? Or do the other media outlets use to big of words????
Just recently the Federal Government sent a letter to ACORN, saying that they will be kept out of the 2010 census because of massive public uproar about them and their crimes.
Good job, fellow Americans! We can do this, we can save Liberty! No amount of power, weaponry, or influence can stand against the united will of the American people!
My son is a cancer survivor and he would not be alive with the healthcare that Obama is trying to shove down our throat. Let him give himself, his staff, congress and every other union the same care he wants to force us to take.
Health care failed in TN 15 years ago, recently HI stopped it when after 7 months those paying said they wanted it for free too, and MA is having budget problems now. Let's see it work in ONE STATE before forcing it on all of us! You can only keep your existing health care until there is "any" change, then you are forced out!
FOX is the only network to watch - you see BOTH sides of the issue, not just O's.
I've been a Bob Dylan fan since the beginning. I sang his songs to guitar accompaniment around many campfires and while driving to marches in Washington D.C. during the Vietnam War era. I can tell you that the sentiment is not that different. We didn't want corrupt gov't control then and we don't want it now. Today's liberals are utterly clueless.
Thank you so much for viewing. Please spread it around. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance, and on that, we have dropped the ball. Just to complete the circle, I'm heading to DC on 9-12, guitar in hand...
I'd love to. Perhaps if you suggested that to the DC organizers... :-) I wouldn't be offended. I actually sound a little better when I'm not trying to sound like Dylan.
Thanks for deleting my totally inoffensive but critical comment. DEMOCRACY!
Yes, I'm sure your "movement" is exactly what Dylan had in mind when he wrote this song and "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall." Now I understand your logic on everything else.
You know, Mr;. Bweckbacher, you're right. I actually had regretted deleting your post the moment I hit the delete key. I don't know what Mr. Dylan may or may not think. I haven't heard from him...
Point I'm trying to make here is these are extrordinary times. We don't particularly have an iconic figure to represent us as in Mr. Dylan's day, so I borrowed Mr. Dylan for a moment to fill that place. So partly parody, but also partly homage. Again my apologies for not keeping your original post.
I'm there! This will be a day that will go down in history as a victory for freedom and capitalism. For if America loses her freedom, the world loses hope.
The doubters will know why we did this and see the truth on 9/12.
