  • I loved this film as a kid :) still know this song by heart even though I'm nearly 18!

  • I really, as someone who KNOWS the truth about Czar Nicholas still cannot hate this movie, and I cannot understand how the Nostalgia Chick hates this movie.. IDK it was somewhat better than a Disney movie considering Anya had no talking animal sidekick or magic to help her, much less Dimitri wasn't a prince.

  • @DimitrisduchessXD Nostalgia Chick seems to hate things because she gets overly political about them a lot of the time. Where Critic actually looks at editing, dialogue and so on Chick has a habit of viewing things through the eyes of an uber-Feminist IMO.

Of course, for some weird reason she goes with good films rather than reviewing the bad stuff which is what the whole Nostalgia thing is about. It's funny reviews of bad films, not picking at good ones.

  • i loved this movie when i was akid that i got his song in my head and i still like the movie and i still have the song in my head

  • dancing pairs !!! not dancing bears ;:D

  • @DjMoppinskyRigoletto This is Russia. Of course there are dancing bears!

  • @HufflepunkNya In Soviet Russia, Song dances Bear

  • Little low quality but beautiful nonetheless. I tear up a little but not for the same reasons as everyone else. When little Alexi comes out he is limping. He had Hemophilia, as do I and my uncles and my cousins. The medicine was virtually shit and he was in such pain when he walked. The actual Rasputin did the best possible thing for him by having his doctors stop giving him Asprin. He wasn't a bad guy, just greedy. Who isn't though...

  • I used to have that dress! Didn't take it off for weeks until my mum "lost" it

  • I had to put my homework down, get goosebumps, smile and listen. Throug all these years i can still remember this beutiful song. it´s to beutiful and perfekt to stop listening and i just want do dance graciously with the music an fly to heaven.

  • OMG, getting goosebumps...lol

  • the one disney film i didn't see. could somebody tell me what it was about?

  • @Shinyrelic not a disney, but its about the romanovs, and stretches historical facts (dont get me wrong, this was my favorite childhood movie.) but its about a conartist trying to get the reward being offered by anastasia's grandmother so they are getting this girl to act as anastasia (they dont know that she really IS anastasia.) for the most part its got her backstory between the assassination of the czar and when she leaves the orphanage and then her journey to act as anastasia. its great :D

  • @Shinyrelic It's actually not disney, It's available on Netflix I believe.

  • this a terrible video. stop posting videos of such horrible quality. only GOOD videos belong on youtube, on that note, can someone permanently delete Adele off of YouTube? thanks!

  • I love Russia

  • omg, brings back so many memories ! i used to only sing the chorus caus thats all i ever knew/remembered :) the best song from this movie !!

  • this song always make me cry :'(

  • @TheSoulessrose Me too!!! Haha

  • Love this movie

  • If she has memories of a castle doesn't that tell her something?

  • I tear up when her father kisses her forehead : (

  • @stilldead071 I teared up when I knew what really happened to her and her family :(

  • I think its 'painted WIGs' - makes more sense...

  • @lacarneinflamare No, it's wings.

  • @lacarneinflamare she was looking at a vase with dancing bears and swans with painted wings...

  • I get cheers when her family walks up to her while she dances. It always made me cry when I was younger. :\

  • @danjigirl88 *oh god, huge typo, it's CHILLS not cheers (dammit)

  • Every time her dad walks up I'm just like, ;_;

  • I saw her brother alexi :)

  • Happy December 1st ! Omg I love this movie it's so cute and sweet

  • necromancer?? I watched this ever since i was a little girl, and this is the part of the movie that i love the most.

  • 20th Century Fox at its finest!!! I love this movie so much!!!! <333333

  • HAPPY DECEMBER GUYS!!

  • I still get the chills. The film may not be historically-accurate, but by golly is it enjoyable.

  • @laurasdfghjkl or as corrupt, deceitful or merciless. I know, it's horrible that they were killed to bring rights to the working class!

  • when i see this... why the fuck do i think of the witch off of l4d?

    random innit

  • the czars lol

  • IM OBSESSED. WITH. THIS. MOVIE.

  • 1:28

Doesn't her dress transformation remind anyone of Disney's Cinderella magically having her rags turning into a ball gown?

  • @jaguar4u2012

Hey, if people perceive things differently, I can respect that. ;)

  • Now i need to rewatch this movie. (:

  • This song is a thousands time better in swedish with Helen Sjöholm! I love this movie! <3

  • this makes me sad cause of how the romanovs died, and things will never ever be as elegant, rich and beautiful again

  • she kinda looks like Ariel except for the eyebrows.

  • Omg my mommy just played the song and I danced like a ballerina and I did it beautyful!!!

  • This is so sad, even though the autocratic system was totally wrong it wasn't the children's fault. No-one should have been shot. Beautiful but sad.

  • Fun fact: to make all the luxurious clothing and jewelry Anastasia remembers in this song, 1500 serfs were worked to death and 6000 serf children were orphaned! Long live the Czar!

  • her arms became a woodgie board... lol

  • @AnimeGirl1723 OMG same :) I love it still!

  • Just love this song lol :D

  • Always my favorite pseudo-Disney movie

  • I prefer french version

  • does anyone else think this sounds a lot like waltz no. 2?

  • I don't know about you guys, but when I was little and saw the part 0:41 to 0:55 I was always so scared! I mean, I love this movie and all, but dancing ghosts and dramatic music? I was terrified! X)

  • aww anastasia and her family didn't deserve to die the way they did =:[

  • @izzychabelitah I don't know man, the Tsar was a fairly corrupt, then again Stalin wasn't all that great either.

  • i thought i would never find the original one

  • i listen to this song on my ipod, and i can tell when each scene happens.

  • wow. theres so much i COULD say, but id run out of space. i love this movie. this is my favorite scene. this is my favorite song. I DONT CARE THAT ITS NOT 'HISTORICALLY ACCURATE'. i wanted Dream Waltz Anastasia (the one w/ the yellow dress from this song) and Grand Opera Anastasia (the purple dress one). i have the soundtrack from itunes. i can quote the entire opening. i drew her in the opera scene by freezing the tape at that part & traced over it and colored it in. i have the original vhs.

  • The actual video, SO much win it hurts! lol

  • I remember seeing part of this movie when I was eight and but I knew this was gonna be my favorite part out of the whole movie. Saw the whole movie and it still is my favorite part. It's sad, enchanting and hauntingly beautiful.

  • I love this movie, love the story behind it whether it was dark or not. This was when movies whether they were animations or real were great, cant find gold like this nowadays. I love this and always will.

  • i remeber when i was little i was singing to this song and dancing just like her her dress is so beautiful i always wanted to be Anastasia

  • I wanted that dress when I was younger and I still do. XD

  • @AnimeGirl1723 Which one?

  • @Kesinji

The dress Anastasia wears when she's dancing with the nobles of the court and does a solo dance with her father, the Czar! <3

  • @AnimeGirl1723 i got my mom to sew a version with a -slightly- bigger waist. ya know, for those of us who eat.

  • @spotlightgirl1515

If I knew how to sew I would've made one already or re-created Ezio's Assassin outfit. But, I gotta say I envy you. Do you have a picture of how it looked like when your mom was finished?

  • @AnimeGirl1723 XD i totally agree. i wanted her dark blue sparkly one too~

  • its almost like you're summoning the ghosts of ballroom past

  • @joshuaorro Like a necromancer.

  • FINALLY AN ACTUAL VIDEO OF THIS!!!! :D NOT A CRAPPY FANMADE OR FANDUB VIDEO, BUT THE REAL THING!

Thanks for posting! I have seen this movie like 1 or 2 times. It's pretty good.

  • When they all came down to dance from the paintings, all I could think of was 'Ghost ship.' Lol.

  • Ich wusste garnicht das es diesen

song auch in englsih gibt !

  • @1Kikyofan1 cuz walt Disney is dead and someone else is making stupid crap! Rarely good crap!!

  • I love this movie and song! Why can't disney go back to the good movies and shows?

  • @1Kikyofan1 Because this isn't Disney? It's 21st Century Fox. Although this, admittedly, I love more than even my favorite Disney movie. I can essentially quote it from memory. And Liz Callaway's voice? Absolutely to DIE for. If I could sing half as well as her, I wouldn't be sitting on my couch commenting on how amazing she is.

  • I wish I had a dress like that lol

  • I thing the german version is better, but this is okay.

  • there is nothing more beatufil and authentic as the original!!! I adore this!

  • I like the dutch version more, but the movie is just beautiful!

  • its amazing how her original cloths stands out so well among the gowns people wear. she looks best in those cloths throughout the movie.

  • the movie is beautiful and adorable....!

    and i like this song

  • Sucks to know that the actual story of the Romanov's decline wasn't NEARLY half as romanticized as Fox made it out to be... TT-TT

  • Omg me too I have the movie on DVD to we are twins yay:) lol.

  • I love this song. I danced the Viennese Waltz to this for my father/daughter dance at my Sweet 16 almost 4 years ago, even though it seems longer than that. I think the brief moment in the song when Anastasia dances with her father was what made me pick this song.

I'm still upset that we only found out the camera wasn't recording after we finished the dance, but this song still brings back so many amazing memories of that day and all the days my dad and I spent practicing for that moment. <3

  • its sad that everyone died but the grandma for real life, and she died a couple years later :(

  • German and russian version was soo deeper :<

  • This my opinion

    Russian version is stronger

    She goes from soul

And this as though for public

  • I have the movie on DVD!!!! XD

  • i went thru 15 videos before I got to this -_- thanks a bunch.

  • omg i get so many chills watching this.

also, fun fact: lacey chabert (aka gretchen from mean girls) provided anastasia's singing voice. never knew that until today, lol.

  • @beautyineverythingxx Not trying to start an argument, but actually Liz Callaway provided the singing voice for Anastasia. You can check imdb if you don't believe me.

  • @thesimsfan113 lol, why would you be trying to start an argument? and yeah, i double-checked and you're right.my mistake. lacey does SOMEONE'S singing voice in this movie, though.

  • Im Russian, and quite frankly, this version sucks, the Russian is much more intracate, and unique, sad to say it, but even more heart-breaking.

  • At 17, I can now fully appreciate this films greatness. I studied Russia as part of my SG, then Higher history school courses and I'm very impressed by this film. As a childrens film it can't accurately depict the true events surrounding the films plot, but it's great nevertheless. It's heartbreaking actually. When I see that shot of Tsar Nicholas, with his son and wife walking behind him towards his youngest daughter, GOOSEBUMPS! Sorry for the serious comment. Both film and song are stunning!

  • i love this song and of course the movie. but hearing this song, well,,kinda make me sad :'(

  • This is the perfect lullaby - I'm singing this to my kids someday (:

  • @TigressWhite The song was speaking about how Anastasia died [along with her family members] on July 17, 1878 [July 16th in the Far East]. The dancing bears represented the assassins [big, burly men] who killed her family off while the painted wings were guns the assassins used in order to rebuke them for having valuable finances and still reading the Bible. The figures dancing gracefully were the men walking all over the palace to rob stuff and she blacks out on the bed.

  • @jaguar4u2012 I think dancing bears were a popular form of entertainment a long time ago, so maybe that's it.

  • @xxxTITINGxxx That "killing them makes you no different" mentalality is ridiculous. Killing thousands=/=killing one, especially that was the person who was killing thousands. Stop using a movie (a great one, tbh) for your history knowledge.

You do not know how horrible Russia was in that time. Which they were convinced was completely the fault of the government. Which isn't much of a stretch. Killing them was the only solution. That's just the truth.

  • @Politoed89 Actually, killing them was more of a simbolyc act rather than a need, the rebels alredy had the power of the goverment and the zar and his family were asking to leave the country to go to france, and the chances of building an army to gain power back were unexistant. And russia was so dameged because of war, its wasnt that this particular zar was worst than the others

  • this kind of makes me want to be a princess lol :$

  • after watching the real story behind this, and discovering about their family's tragic fate, i kind of feel sad watching this

  • @xxxTITINGxxx heh, their family taxed the hell out of people and shot their own citizens in front of the palace this song is set in...I *adore* this movie, and the nostalgia for glittering royalty kind of gets to me too, but I don't really feel bad they're gone. their "martyrdom" is played up because everyone hated communists, but they were brutal and tyrannical rulers all the same. fabulous sense of style: yes. nice people? not really.

  • @irgy709 I understand what you're saying. The point is whether they

were nice poeple or not, no one deserved to have

died that brutally especially those children.killing them and wishing for

their death just because of the things they did does not make you any

    different from them, just saying.

  • @xxxTITINGxxx ...*did not kill the Romanovs*...

  • @irgy709 no shit. you didn't?

  • @xxxTITINGxxx "killing them...does not make you any different".

  • @irgy709 and of course by "you" i meant yourself, RIght!

  • @irgy709 ,The children didn,t deserve to be killed for the sins/misdeeds of the father. Also the way in which the Romanovs were got rid of,couldn,t the romanov rule just have been overthrown.

  • @ThePearlofeire if people wanted them to go raise an army and kill thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of people in an attempt to reinstate their dynasty, then yes. I never said I wanted them to die, but they weren't innocents or saints by any stretch of the imagination. children who are heirs to thrones have been used to start wars for centuries. killing them could very realistically have saved thousands of lives. doesn't make it right, but history isn't black/white good/evil.

  • @Rachelayres3

    Same here!

  • The part where she dances with her father always makes me tear up :(

  • goosebumps. every damn time.

  • a little awkward when i realized that that last guy she danced with was...you know...her father. and not like...a potential suitor or something. *cough cough*

  • @OrigamiNinjaGirl If you found something sexual in the dance between her and her father; you are one disturbed individual.

  • do you know how many bullshit video's I had to go through until I found this?! THANK GOD!!!

  • @rachelayres3 I AGREE!!!!!!!! I was about to give up...

  • @rachelayres3 tell me about it! pisses me off when i click on the song and there is some fool singing over it!

  • i love the part when the people come out of the paintings. i love this song, ten im going to sing this to my children when i grow up. :)

  • Love this song

  • <3

  • Russia is beautiful.

  • Brings back memories!

  • OMG! would u belive that i have a doll of that dog somewhere?!? LOL

  • @WendySunVal I still have the original Anastasia doll. The original dress has been torn to shreds but I kept the doll in the princess outfit instead of the rags.

  • @TheKsourmoon i used to have that doll when i was little, and the doll where she wears the dress to the russian ballet. the yellow one was my favourite, if i remember correctly it came with a stand she twirled on and a tape with this song on...

  • Chills. Every time!

  • @skerple94 Me too! This is my favorite song in the whole movie!

  • @slayercl no last time i saw this movie i was problely 4 or even 3 now im 12 and i havent seen this movie in so long cause i lost the tape pluse i dont have a VCR anymore. Now i want to see it because i never really got to understand it when i was younger.

  • This movie completes me. I sing this song to my sister before bed at night and she loves it. Very enchanting <3

  • YES! I can never find a clip of this...

  • was I the only one scared by this movie when I was smaller? <_<

  • @slayercl hahah no i was scared and would hide my face durin the "scary" parts

  • @spiritfired Liz Callaway is the singing voice of Anastasia not Lea Salonga xD

If I'm not mistaken, Lea only sang the singing voices of Mulan and Princess Jasmine [ i'm only talking about Disney movies ].

  • @Shadowed4Love Yea. After posting this and seeing another vid of Odette singing in Swan Princess that informed me of Liz Callaway (at the related videos section), I regretted almost immediately what I said. But I SWEAR the artist on my mp3 said Lea Salonga (what the heck?) Did she sing that too?? But either way I love the song, and I'd be upset to hear if what I heard for over 10 years is not Liz Callaway XD

  • Maybe it's just me or maybe it's just because it is just the circumstance that the girl is under, but, the moment that Anastasia and her father start dancing with each other makes my heart swell. :3

  • the best part is when the people are dancing out of the portraits and the music picks up.

  • I like how in the lyrics it doesnt seem like what she misses is the wealth. She remembers more of the feeling of belonging somewhere and having people around. Makes it so much easier to sympathize with her

  • looking at this makes want watch the whole movie. i wish disney would make movies like this again

  • @michaeljacksonlov6 Disney didn't make this Fox did.

  • i get this strange sad feeling when i see her sisters and parents appear on the stairs and then shes dancing with her father and i want to cry because her life was taken from her.. and if the tragedy had never happened, she would actually be there with her family

  • Love that its the actusl scene and not some random voice

  • Probably the best scene in the movie, and the one truest to the tragedy of Anastasia.

  • my favorite part is the dancing pictures, it's hauntingly beautiful and the part when she dances with her father

  • i adore this movie and song :) its amazing!!

  • I grew up with movie, my mother hates it now, I still love this song. I still have the movie.

  • Why do people keep saying it is Dancing Pairs?? When is the last time you have seen a pair dance people?!? And she is looking at a vase with dancing bears on it! The dancing bears thing in Russia is horrible, but I think it would be quite obvious that she isn't singing about moving fruit xD wonderful song though, my favorite. Even though it is incredibly sad.

  • @TheNeonLime

What`s wrong with 'pair'. It means 'couple' doesn`t it?

Dancing bears were only in different fairs not palaces

  • @TheNeonLime i agree about the dancing bears part as it is obviously those lyrics but when people say pairs they mean like a couple. the fruit is spelled pear and couple is spelled pair.. i hate the english language and having the same word meaning 2 different things :P

  • I love this movie,... but I prefer czech version of this song ;)

  • @DannyFDNY part of what you say is true but if someone kills your dad or anyone in your family takes most of what you know as to be your life you will put heart and soul into there utter destruction by doubling or at least causing them the same pain they caused you

  • Viewing of this reactionary clip constitutes a counter-revolutionary crime.

  • i just love this song and movie i have it in spanish and english i just found them both after the move

  • They should really, REALLY convert this to a broadway musical. I'd see it. Again and again and again.

  • @kclarkson13 Agreed!

  • I noticed in the lyrics, it says "dancing bears." isn't it "dancing pairs"? I'm confused o.o

  • @pinkheartscutie no it's "dancing bears". Notice the dancing bears on the vase she touches in the beginning of the song. it's one of the things that jog her memory, which causes her to sing the song.

  • how much LSD had she taken?

  • Besides Anastasia, I feel sorry for her father and little bother. The poor kid was sick, and they killed him! Nicholas Romanov loved his children and risked his throne and empire to save them from persecution. Unfortunatly, we all know what happened to them.

I can't understand politicans, or governments; they'd kill for power. We don't need monarchies, polictions, or 'so-called democracies'! We need humantarians to rule the world & elect someone like Ghadi, Mother Theresa, or MLK 4 President.
