2. this whole "make more traditional guitars" is ridiculous. There are plenty of traditional instruments for you + remember that 45 years ago, people were nagging about electric guitars... well you guys aren't much different;)
agreed 100% in one set alone I could be using maybe 5 or 6 different tunings and rather than buying 6 SG's or Explorer's or LP's that all have to be set up for different tunings (if you want to stay in tune and have the right amount of tension on your necks) the robots are the answer.

i like fender and gibson. who wouldn't? i have an american deluxe fat strat, a 57 reissue strat, and a gibson 63 reissue ES-335. i find the 335 to be the meanest, best sounding, but for some reason i play my strats 80% of the time. probably because they're just so comfortable.
Strats are as good as LP's if not better sinds Gibson is too busy making useless unafordable artist guitars and you cant say one is better than the other because both are great instruments but it's a personal choice which you wanna pick up when you play, personally I really like both.

I played gibson les pauls and to be honest i dont know what the big fuss is about gibson guitars, whilst gibson on a headstock may be the guitar world brand name bling there are better guitars out there for far less money their just overpriced novelty's as far as i'm concerned, the hype definitely never lived up to the reality for me anyway, i use a jackson king v which cost me half as much as a gibson les paul and sounds 10 times as good and is far easier to play with a much better neck profile

To be honest, there is no perfect guitar, it's all about preference, some people like the single body opposed to the bolt on neck, some people like the thicker Les Paul neck, neither guitar is better, they are just different, and different people like them for different reasons.
I used to consider myself a fan of Fender, but lately I'm realizing that they are both way overpriced. Fenders and Gibsons aren't expensive because they are good guitars, they're expensive because they have the words "Fender" and "Gibson" stamped on them. I'm not saying they aren't good guitars, I'm just saying that there are cheaper guitars of the same or better quality out there.
Ibanez makes some of the best guitars I have ever played. Hagstrom makes some extremely nice guitars too. Probably the most comfortable and fastest playing guitar I've played, and it's only $500 or $600. Compare THAT to a Fender Strat that costs $1200 or $1500, or more.
I love rg's. The only reason fender charges that much is cause its labeled as fender and everyone goes with name brands and not quality nor playiblity.

Continuing, the Robot has limited tunings aswell. Have you ever played a live gig? Do you understand the quicker you can change tuning and not have to wait on the guitar/oneself, the better. Hence the reason I chose the VG (also the alternate pickup sounds). Listen the posts before got out of hand because you insulted me first. Let's just agree to disagree on this topic, and now we can "rap it up" ok?
I'd love to see them make vids attacking each others companies and guitars. That's all people really care about! They want to know that their guitar is so awesome it kills someone else's guitar.
Besides, the Fender VG Strat automatically changes tuning in 2 secs by a flick of the switch. For a robot guitar you gotta sit there waiting for it to change ... BORING!

Hey anths1717, ever notice that if the VG strat's batteries die, so does your alternate tuning? All the VG Strat is is an elaborate Roland amp verged with a Strat. The Gibson robot doesn't have all the synthesizing effects, but there's nothing artificial about the tuning function.
The fact that you can also put preset tunings into the Robot and have it consistenly and efficiently revert back and forth is just a testament to the fact that the Robot is NOT a gimmmick.
Hmmm ... I wonder how you can solve that problem ... oh yeah! Keep fresh batteries. Wow that was so hard to think of. Besides, once the battery dies (which will only happen to idiots), you still have a normal Standard Strat, and can still tune it as per normally.
The Robot is extremely slow compared to the VG Strat, and it does not have the versatility of alternate pickup sounds either. Plus it's definitely not "user friendly" (lets read a manual for 10 years). So I wonder what is better ...
So you're the defensive type? My argument probably won't get through your head, then.
Based on practicality, If you tune the Robot using the onboard tuning device, it tunes for you, and stays there. The strings are actually at tension at that tuning. If the Robot loses power, you're still at your selected tuning.
The Strat's tuning device is artificial, so if you're in one of the onboard tuning choices and the power goes out, you're out of luck, especially in the middle of a performance.
So if I'm the thick, defensive type you must be the retarted, blind type. In case you couldn't read my reply above ... I'll reiterate (whoops too big a word for you, it means restate what I said ... still too much for you?).
KEEP FRESH BATTERIES = NO POWER FAILURES. And if by some magical force the battery compartment gets ripped off the whole guitar, you can still tune with your hands (it still plays retard). Tuning with your hands is probably still quicker than waiting for the Robot Gay-bson.
Oh yeah ... talking about practicality ... you need to read the Robot Gay-tars instruction manual inside out (all 1 million pages)just to get alternate tunings. With the VG, a baby could figure how to change tunings. And again for you who is retarded ... it also has alternate PICKUP SOUNDS. Too good a technology for a Gay-bson.

To be honest, there is no perfect guitar, it's all about preference, some people like the single body opposed to the bolt on neck, some people like the thicker Les Paul neck, neither guitar is better, they are just different, and different people like them for different reasons.

I used to consider myself a fan of Fender, but lately I'm realizing that they are both way overpriced. Fenders and Gibsons aren't expensive because they are good guitars, they're expensive because they have the words "Fender" and "Gibson" stamped on them. I'm not saying they aren't good guitars, I'm just saying that there are cheaper guitars of the same or better quality out there.

Ibanez makes some of the best guitars I have ever played. Hagstrom makes some extremely nice guitars too. Probably the most comfortable and fastest playing guitar I've played, and it's only $500 or $600. Compare THAT to a Fender Strat that costs $1200 or $1500, or more.

i have to admit i am more of a fender-guy, so i don't think this is exactly funny. it's a nice idea, but it reminds me of pepsi and coke. the smaller one tries to show the world that they are much better. and by small i don't mean they build their guitars not as good as fender. it's just that fender makes good basses and amps, too.

gibsons are ok. they produce warm and beefy sounds. but they can't even get close to a strat versatility.. and this robot guitar.. well, i think it kills the true essence of a guitarist tuning his/her own axe.

I think you have a point there. It's a good training for your ears to tune the guitar without any help. But this costs $3000. if you spend so mucch money on a guitar you have to be good. so at that point it's irrelevant if you tune yourself.

I only use Ibanez guitars, and will not use ANY other, but I dont "hate" fender. they would be my 2nd choice of guitars maybe. i just use Ibanez, and Kustom amps, and for gibson, or any guitar brand to this, to bash another guitar brand is just sick, and wrong! gibson bashed ibanez back in 19970's with ibanez's old head stock, come on gibson, GROW THE F*** UP!

OK. First, you didn't even let me get my opportunity to reply, so you can't "rap things up." If you want to leave because you're admitting defeat, by all means go ahead. And calling me a "fanboy"? How old are you? 12? I already said I tried both instore, and was provided help on how to change tunings by the staff working there. The Robot Guitar is nothing more than a slightly more fancy Les Paul, I personally would use that money to buy a Custom and modify it myself.

Continuing, the Robot has limited tunings aswell. Have you ever played a live gig? Do you understand the quicker you can change tuning and not have to wait on the guitar/oneself, the better. Hence the reason I chose the VG (also the alternate pickup sounds). Listen the posts before got out of hand because you insulted me first. Let's just agree to disagree on this topic, and now we can "rap it up" ok?

Besides, the Fender VG Strat automatically changes tuning in 2 secs by a flick of the switch. For a robot guitar you gotta sit there waiting for it to change ... BORING!

Hey anths1717, ever notice that if the VG strat's batteries die, so does your alternate tuning? All the VG Strat is is an elaborate Roland amp verged with a Strat. The Gibson robot doesn't have all the synthesizing effects, but there's nothing artificial about the tuning function.
The fact that you can also put preset tunings into the Robot and have it consistenly and efficiently revert back and forth is just a testament to the fact that the Robot is NOT a gimmmick.

Hmmm ... I wonder how you can solve that problem ... oh yeah! Keep fresh batteries. Wow that was so hard to think of. Besides, once the battery dies (which will only happen to idiots), you still have a normal Standard Strat, and can still tune it as per normally.
The Robot is extremely slow compared to the VG Strat, and it does not have the versatility of alternate pickup sounds either. Plus it's definitely not "user friendly" (lets read a manual for 10 years). So I wonder what is better ...

So you're the defensive type? My argument probably won't get through your head, then.
Based on practicality, If you tune the Robot using the onboard tuning device, it tunes for you, and stays there. The strings are actually at tension at that tuning. If the Robot loses power, you're still at your selected tuning.
The Strat's tuning device is artificial, so if you're in one of the onboard tuning choices and the power goes out, you're out of luck, especially in the middle of a performance.

So if I'm the thick, defensive type you must be the retarted, blind type. In case you couldn't read my reply above ... I'll reiterate (whoops too big a word for you, it means restate what I said ... still too much for you?).
KEEP FRESH BATTERIES = NO POWER FAILURES. And if by some magical force the battery compartment gets ripped off the whole guitar, you can still tune with your hands (it still plays retard). Tuning with your hands is probably still quicker than waiting for the Robot Gay-bson.

Oh yeah ... talking about practicality ... you need to read the Robot Gay-tars instruction manual inside out (all 1 million pages)just to get alternate tunings. With the VG, a baby could figure how to change tunings. And again for you who is retarded ... it also has alternate PICKUP SOUNDS. Too good a technology for a Gay-bson.
I bet you don't even have a Robot. I own a Sunburst VG. I also compared it with the Robot when I played them instore. The Fender VG Strat kills the Gay-son Robot Gay-tar

Right, so naturally you're a fanboy just because you own it. I understand. No matter how much you like the VG strat's alternate *artificial* tunings at the twist of a knob, your questioning of the Robot's tuning mechanism is totally uncalled for. Call it unusable, but you're just impatient if you don't want to learn to program a guitar that tunes itself to common settings, customizable tunings, allows you to manually tune ANY TIME, contrary to what you believe, and also winds fresh strings too.

You may have been impressed by the quickness of the VG Strat's *limited* alternate tunings, and I've myself conceded that the simulated effects are nice perks, but in the end if you don't take time to do anything, you never get the best value. If you happenned to do more research that, say, just holding two guitars, you'd know a whole lot about their capabilities. Your inability to concede ANYTHING shows your immaturity, dude
