  • Absolutely fascinating! I'm curious to do something similar at my university in Manitoba or where I live in Ottawa. I admit that I look at the women dressed, but it's really out of fascination and curiosity at what it must feel like to be covered in such a way.

    Very cool video :)

  • Muslims are not supposed to buy, consume, sell or serve alcohol, actually. That is something known by all Muslims. There's no sect that denies that. I know that people in the video are not Muslim, but it's kind of strange, since the people observing them will think they are, and when they see them buying alcohol they will get the wrong idea about Muslims...

  • This was an interesting video to watch i mean, could have better sound n i agree with some comments bellow that you should have entered a alcohol shop.... Gives us a bad image

  • Haha i got kind of annoyed that you didn't know how to pronounce it at first since it was a a project you were conducting. Anyway, this project was really insightful because i would have thought that a place such as Montreal would be more open about things. Also, i really enjoyed the final reaction after a mainly negative video. I didn't understand why people were following them though? Apart from that, the fact you went for an alcoholic beverage is misleading and shouldn't have been done.

  • I am Canadian Muslim , i feel insulted that the women went to buy Alcohol because the shop keeper thinks that they are real Muslims and also Religious. Muslims that are Religious do not buy Alcohol , and we do not buy it for cooking at all

  • iam wondring why you look at women when she dress like that, and dont look to women who dress short and showing her boobs? dont you think women hair and her body attracted by men? just think

  • nice experiment, I like tat boy said: why dont you wear this :D

  • so people looked at them... so what? if i walked down the street in ninja outfit i'd expect people to look at me too. muslims that wear these stupid sheets wonder why the draw so much attention. take a fucking look in the mirror at yourself. you look like a cross between the grim reaper and a cartoon character.

of course people are going to look at you. if you don't want to stand out, then move to saudi arabia or stop dressing like a fucking primitive sand monkey.

  • lmaooo omg the more i watch this, the more fake this looks, some of my friends are niqabis and almost none of this has happened. theres been a few looks, but meerly out of curiosity. none of these stop and OMG LOOK AT THEM looks.

  • was the camera hidden? cause i know if i saw niqabis walking around toronto, and then a pair of white people with a camera behind them, i would be staring too, and honestly think you guys were up to no good, or harassing them

  • They look like Sith. But aren't nearly as cool.

  • Actually people in the middle east, including Saudi Arabia wear western clothes all the time, they just happen to be covering them with their abayas when they go in public. If women are alone with other women they would be just in western clothes and no abayas covering themselves. Most of them are actually more fashionable than their western counter-parts.

  • ... faith level, and so thats why shes attempting to face all the hardships of wearing it, plus she is very keen to practice islam properly, and so it was just unappropriate for those around to see women like that (showing modesty) to enter a liqiour store. i hope you know what i mean. in some way this is offending to other niqab wearing muslim women. i hope your next video keeps the muslim women reputation clean as they hardly maintain.

  • hello, i am a muslim i only wear hijab, not jiqab, i do wish to do so in near future, i live in new zealand. i watched your video wasnt too shoked to see the peoples reactions around, i was surprised that those 3 women following them didnt say anything to them. you mentioned how alcohol is forbidden in islam and your saying that it shouldnt be a problem to enter a liquior store and buy some, its true that she isnt drinking it but you dont realise that when a woman wears niqab, shes in great...

  • they love the attention, that s why they wear it.and buying alcohol, that s a muslim no,no.like i always say, the more religious people are ,the more hypocritical they are.

  • actually niqab is the ultimate meaning of prudery :-) a thing most american females and males! totally forgot :-)

  • lol

  • get used to it, and by the way muslims do not drink alcohol :-)

  • Okay nevermind my last comment, I took it wrongly, I thought you were trying to mock those who choose to wear niqab.

  • This is so dumb, what is the point? Especially the buying alcohol part,

  • Its good that you put some descriptions or else people might miss understood it as-- mocking etc.

  • if these women are muslim, then why did they buy alcohol?

  • @hayataqwa Nobody said that they're Muslim. Also, nobody said that they were a sect of a religion that doesn't allow the consumption of alcohol. Also, from my understanding, traditional Muslims may buy alcohol as gifts or for purposes other than direct consumption, such as cooking. Furthermore, religious adherence isn't the objective of this observation.

  • @westaj1 Actually, muslims arn't allowed to consume, buy, sell or serve alcohol. I'm a muslim and ALL major sects that i know forbid alcohol as all sects follow the Quran which clearly forbids it. :)

Fair play cos no one said they were Muslim , just wanted 2 correct you in this :)

Hope i didnt cause a problem inshAllah! Very Good video! :)

  • @westaj1 Just for further clarification, there is no particular sect of Islaam that doesn't allow the consumption of alcohol. The consumption of alcohol is prohibited in Islaam altogether whether in large or small amounts, for cooking or other purposes. Whether there are particular Muslims who deem alcohol to be permissible based on their own opinions, that' a different story.

  • @westaj1 Also, from your understanding of gifting alcohol, in Islaam we consider whatever is imperissible for us is impermissible for the rest of mankind, as there is only One God so gifting alcohol, or even buying it, producing it, or carrying it would be impermissible.

  • @westaj1 WHAT! So you guys are going around imitating Muslim women? And what do you mean traditional Muslims? My family is probably the most traditional it gets and I've never held a bottle of alcohol, let alone consume it. It is one thing to go around dressed as a Muslims to experiment but when you are going around dressed in the highest form of hijab and buy alcohol... Shame on you.

  • @westaj1 in islam muslims cannot consume, buy or sell alcohol or even be in a place alcohol is served. all muslims believe this not just a sect. i don't think you really helped muslims by dressing up like a muslim then buying alcohol. this is going to give us a bad name.

  • @westaj1 Religion'd.

  • I wish I was a woman to be able to try the niqab one day. It would be amazing to be able to be stared down, not for being 'hot' or 'ugly'.

  • lol i thought muslim dont consume alcohol

  • I'd be scared too if a fuckin ninja was at the mall

  • If you wanna do that experience again send me a msg!

  • OMG I wanna try that too :)

    SUBSCRIBED :)

  • It would have been more interesting if they went to someplace like Afghanistan, or Saudi Arabia wearing normal clothes. And see their reactions..

  • @hevo1 I agree, but I'm not sure I would call the clothing that I wear 'normal clothes' in Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of traveling that far, and as far as I know, it's illegal to wear such clothes anyway. Would be interesting though. ;)

  • @hevo1 You probably never went to the middle east. You know there are non-muslims in Saudi right? Which mean it isn't taboo wearing "normal" clothes in certain cities of Saudi.

  • I've only seen one woman wearing the niqab in the CDN area.

I don't know what you are trying to prove tough. I would get the same looks if I would go by Ste-Catherine wearing that green bikini thong in the movie Borat.

People heard about the niqab and it's so rare in America's it's normal they look at it.

  • @Arnosti We weren't trying to prove anything... just observing. We also understand that just because people, "Look," doesn't mean they're being rude, and it's understandable that people's vision is drawn to people wearing the minority of clothing/styles.

  • @westaj1 you are right and great testing on montreal streets. plan any research whether women feel free in this dress or not?

  • @westaj1 why shouldn't she be id'ed though? at the end of the day shes still buying alcohol and she could've been underage

  • wait r they muslims....i am a muslim and this is offensive because muslim dont drink alcohol

  • @Captainomaralwee I don't think that's relevant. There was no intent to offend people, and I'm sorry you feel that way. The goal was to find out how the public reacts to women wearing the niqab, not to make a religious statement or propagate blasphemy.

  • @westaj1 i apologize for my comment. so their not muslims?

  • and if want to make like a project.please do some research first. thanks ;-)

  • do they normally wear the niqab ?

  • @lizzieworld13 No they do not normally wear the niqab.
